$100 Fights Now to Happen in Canada?

(David “The Crow” Loiseau)
Maybe some of the cancelled WCO bouts will live on in another organization - and for more than $100 and ‘a figure to be named later’. The Fight Network is reporting that Hardcore Championship Fighting has offered fights on the February 1st “Destiny” card to Renato “Babalu” Sobral and Vernon “Tiger” White. Canadian David Loiseau has also been offered a gig. The fighters were among those cast away when the World Cagefighting Organization shit the bed seemingly minutes before their much-hyped event was to go down in San Diego this past weekend. Everything was cancelled when the fighters refused to rip up their contracts and fight for a Ben Franklin - and the rest to come later. How dare them!
The HCF’s current card looks like this:
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Todd Gouwenberg
Gegard Mousasi vs. Evangelista Santos
Thomas Schulte vs. Garett Davis
Brendan Seguin vs. Derrick Noble
Damir Mirenic vs. Mike Pyle
Andrew Buckland vs. Dan Chambers
Solomon Hutcherson vs. Amir Rahnavardi
Myles Merola vs. Ariel Sexton
Tim Hague vs. Miodrag Petkovic
Nabil Khatib vs. Lucas Rota
Babian Cortez vs. Juan Barrantes
The blood-fest is scheduled to happen in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in the Stampede Corral. Ken Pavia (good God, he really is the only MMA agent in the biz) reps Babalu and David Loiseau and has confirmed there is an offer. He also said Babs will pass. According to TFN: “[HCF] made us a very generous offer, but due to a scheduling conflict, Renato isn’t able to fight at the event,” Pavia said. Scheduling conflict means Babs got so hammered after the event got cancelled, that charges are now pending. Allegedly, of course.
HCF has offered Loiseau a battle with middleweight Jason Day, but ‘ppears dough might be a roadblock - hopefully, it’ll be more than a nice dinner and dessert for four at Fuddruckers. TFN has further scoop on the situation from HCF CEO Keith Crawford and “The Pav”:
“It’s a good opportunity for Jason Day and a good fight for David Loiseau. Where we sit right now is we’re looking at the financial aspect,” said Crawford. “We already have well over a half-million dollar fight card. We have an amount we can afford to pay them, and if they accept that amount, then we’ve got them on the card.”
As of Sunday night, Pavia told TGFN that although the fight had not yet been signed, Loiseau’s participation on the card was still possible. “We’re working on it,” Pavia said. “It’s still a viable possibility.”
Loiseau is already scheduled to fight for HCF on Saturday, March 29 at the Robert Guertin Arena in Gatineau, Quebec. He’ll square off with “The Ultimate Fighter 3” veteran Solomon Hutcherson.
According to the HCF’s site, Randy Couture will be “cornering John Alessio and Mike Pyle”. This surely will just fuel the Extreme Couture venture into our Northern Cousin’s private parts.
Gotta’ say, the main event is pretty damn cool. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and up-and-coming Canadian Todd Gouwenberg doing battle is something I’ll sign up for any day.
