Yushin Okami: Americans Are Pussies

Suki MMA has translated Yushin Okami’s latest blog post, in which the Japanese UFC middleweight contender gives his thoughts on UFC 81:
Minotauro was terrific. That sweep was artistic. I was amazed to see his mental strength and his submission techniques. I found a lot to learn from his fight. I was also surprised to see how quick Sylvia gave up and tapped out though. It seems the American style.
Oh, you bastard. I can only hope that the collective chants of “U.S.A.! U.S.A.!” fill Evan Tanner with enough patriotic fury to wipe the mat with Okami next month. First of all, giving up is not the American style. I think Okami was forgetting something when he wrote this blog post. Namely:

The UFC thought that Okami had no drawing power before….wait until fans get a hold of this. Okami probably had a couple of fans before this came out, NOW, forget it. I cant wait for him to fight in the STATES

@ Turdburglar: actually Okami has only been knocked out once, almost 5 years ago. Plus he has never tapped out of a fight, let alone even be submitted. Although this has nothing to do with Americans or Japanese being pussies, because I’ve seen plenty of American pussies and plenty of Japanese pussies, just as I have seen plenty of Americans and Japanese who refuse to ever tap.

Anyway, Yushin is prolly gonna get stomped. In other news, who else is pumped for watching Kimbo dominate another wash-out of a MMA fighter!
Gotta give props to Yushin though, he ain’t afriad to talk shit about people in the UFC unlike most of the regular Band Wagon Butt Bandits, although it’s Sylvia..so I guess I can’t give him tooo much for it.
Tim Sylvia is a good representative of America though, fat, Really white, and stumbling towards a long drawn out loss (or economic failure, whichever)
The comments here were pretty funny though, all the rednecks jumpin up “Eh now der boy ya can’t say that bout our americaland” classic. Let’s all forget for a minute that the best fighters (in most peoples opinions) are from Brazil and Georgia (or where ever Fedor is from, I can’t remember)
Not that I have any love for Japan or anywhere else for that matter, but America is more of an asshole for the earth then the middle east. I mean you guys produce people like Dana, who I think most poeple would agree, is a turd in a toilet bowl just waiting to be flushed.

Look at the quote, did he say Americans are pussies? NO. For goodness sakes it was being “translated”. Now shut the hell up. Let the fighting do the talking, if or when it happens. Man, when did this board get to be filled with so much hate and bigotry. Some of these comments have nothing to do with MMA or the fight. Just seems like a bunch of trash talking from people who only watch the event and know nothing about the sport. Show a little respect to fighters who native countries are the original creators of some of the greatest martial arts disciplined that some of you seem to be so obessed with yet show no respect to.

Just keep in mind that things could get lost in translation. Okami didn’t really mean anything serious about it, he even later wrote an apology because one of his English agents or some one knew what went around the forums (basically that everyone is taking it in a different light). He was just joking around. Even so, it’s pretty funny to see you guys get all railed up about a person’s comments. He just basically said, “it seems….” It’s his own observation. Who cares…. It’s not like he’s calling someone a “nigger” or a “redneck”. War Okami.

First of all:
Yes, Minotauro is brilliant and a wonderful fighter. He’s one of my favorites.
Second, I would have to agree most Americans do not posses the expertise in submission that Japanese fighters or other fighters do. Remember, we’re a baby country and when you’re a baby country, you learn things a little more slowly.
Thirdly, Evan Tanner, R.I.P was also a raging alcoholic and had, before he died, attributed his worsening fighting abilities due to his lifelong abuse of liquor.
