Fedor vs. Tim Sylvia: July 19th, Dallas (!)

Top ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko will fight Tim Sylvia on July 19. The Russian mixed martial arts champion confirmed the bout to Sherdog.com on Tuesday.
"[Sylvia] is a good fighter, a strong fighter, the former UFC heavyweight champion, which is important," Emelianenko said via telephone from Stary Oskol, Russia. "I am looking forward to fighting him and training hard for this fight."
While Emelianenko was short on details, Sherdog.com has learned through sources close to the negotiations that Fedor-Sylvia would headline a card tentatively scheduled for the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, the home base of HDNet Fights.
HDNet Fights CEO Andrew Simon declined to comment on the report, however sources indicate the bout will air on the Mark Cuban-owned network and is rumored to be promoted by Affliction, a clothing brand closely tied to MMA.
Emelianenko hasn't faced an elite-level heavyweight since Mirko Filipovic at PRIDE Final Conflict in August 2005; we can't wait to see where his skills currently stand, and if he really deserves to top our HW rankings. An interesting side-note to this booking is Monte Cox, who recently parted ways with Fedor when M-1 Global became Adrenaline MMA. Even though the fight won't be held under the Adrenaline banner, Cox is still Tim Sylvia's manager, which means he'll still be getting paid at least 10% of a shit-ton of money. That, my friends, is how a smart gambler plays.

fedor has beaten nog twice, mark hunt, cro-crop, matt linland, mark coleman, randleman, fugita, and a long line of others. fedor doesn't train specifically for one fight. he trains non stop and when fight night comes, it's like us punching in at work for an 8 hour shift. but it only takes him 30 minutes tops. sylvia has no chance what so ever to win this fight. in a cage or in a ring, elbows or no elbows, it doesn't make any difference. fedor is way to fast for tim. and when he knows he has you hurt, he is just as devastating as wanderlai silva at finishing someone off. the only person who has a chance at fedor is couture. and that is just because he is a great all around fighter and has a lot of experience. but that fight would end the same way. fedor wins. period. fedor will eventually lose. but not for a long time. atleast 2 years.

I don't know if people realize that Nogera has never been knocked out? Watch his fights, he is not a stand up guy. A few fights ago he fought mark hunt was it? And hunt knocked him on his ass and was like I am not going on the ground with you and let him stand up. Theres a reason he did that.
As for Fedor.. watch a bunch of his fights. When he fought cro cop, cro cop was in his prime and fedor was beating the ex kick boxing champion of the world in stand up with a possibly broken hand which would explain how cro cop did not get knocked out.
Tim sylvia's best chance for this fight is to give fedor a cut early in the fight which could mean a win by doctor stoppage.

nogueira wasn't really fighting smart against tim sylvia.
he is 3 or 4 inches shorter. and better at eeverything except punching - what did he do for 2 1/2 rounds - BOX.
Fedor is 8 inches shorter, but probably will be smarter against sylvia - there are a lot of ways he should probably beat tim sylvia - i cant wait to watch though.
