Feast Your Eyes on Affliction’s First Fight Card

men_pic.jpg
(It’s going to be totally sick, bro.)

The word on the street is that Affliction is having trouble getting their first event together and onto the airwaves in some form, but Vice President Tom Atencio sought to put out that fire in a recent talk with USA Today’s Sergio Non. Atencio insists that talks have not broken down between Affliction and HDNet, as has been previously reported, but that they are still in negotiations.

Affliction plans to put the top half of their July 19 card on pay-per-view (which will run you round $40-50), while airing the undercard on a live TV broadcast of some sort. And what will this inaugural card look like? As it stands right now, something like this:

• Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia
• Josh Barnett vs. Pedro Rizzo
• Renato Sobral vs. Mike Whitehead
• Matt Lindland vs. Fabio Negao
• Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Paul Buentello (unofficial, not yet signed)

Non-pay-per-view fights:
• Savant Young vs. Mark Hominick
• Justin Levens vs. Ray Lazama
• J.J. Ambrose vs. Patrick Speight
• Mike Pyle vs. Brett Cooper

Not a bad lineup at all. Also rumored for the card is heavyweight Ben Rothwell, though an opponent for him has not yet been named. The fights will take place in a ring, not a cage, and Atencio confirmed The Pond in Anaheim, Calif., as the venue for the event.

Atencio also said the winners of the Fedor-Sylvia bout and Barnett-Rizzo bout would meet in the main event of Affliction’s next show, most likely in October. Depending on your take on Affliction so far, you might call that planning for the future or cockeyed optimism.

I’m fucking sick of promoters that use rings instead of an octagon, “THIS ISNT BOXING YOU FUCKTARDS”…can someone please explain that to me?

  2. godzillad Says:

”The fights will take place in a ring, not a cage…”

No, these fights will not take place at all.

  3. Jeff Says:

This is good news, I had a nightmare where this event was held in a “revolutionary” plexiglass dome.

  4. Joe Son Says:

Nice one, Jeff. I nominate that for next week’s comment contest.

  5. dk Says:

First ppv I will be buying

  6. Alex Says:

I’m just waiting for the first promotion to start putting obstacles and weapons in the cage. Now THAT would be revolutionary

  7. beatrix Says:

Let’s just get it over with and do women vs. men. Then we could match up Starnes vs. Quarry again…

  8. kalib starnes tampon Says:

i cant wait to plug up kalib’s huge bloody vag again. or his profusely bleeding asshole after his next rape fisting.

  9. Warcraft Says:

Whats the deal HDnet should grow some balls already and pickup this affliction card with there big money.

Card does look gggggggreat if its gonna really happen.
What happen to Couture vs Fedor I though thats real deal there.
Fedor need a warmup win against Tim I guess then more novices will learn of Fedors Legacy.

  10. KG Says:

Makes you wonder what the real reason was behind the Randy/Fedor sweaty photo shoot. Maybe that was for the first MMA porno… since they have so many MMA movies now, why not have MMA porno flicks?

  11. dandaman Says:

i live in LA, when i get a ticket im going to start the “Two man enta, one man leave” chant.

  12. tim sylvia's pussy Says:

    gnar

  13. spyder1337 Says:

Finally, Fedor fights someone know to the UFC fan boys. Their hearts will be broken once Tim receives the raping of a life time by my Russian dough boy.

  14. come on Says:

who the fuck wants to see matt lindland fight anymore? seriously. who does? im asking

  15. grant Says:

sick!! im SO glad its in a ring. i hope fedor hasnt lost anything in the past few years, i want to see him absolutely destroy sylvia. and, to the post above, id see lindland fight!

  16. Bod Says:

Mais qu’est-ce qui se passe ici? pourquoi tout le monde parle anglais?

  17. MarleyMarl Says:

At least it might be harder for Tim Sylvia to just lye on Fedor for the whole fight since it’s in a ring.

  18. Dota Says:

It’s in a ring because thats what Fedor is used to and what Tim isn’t so used to. This is just another promotion for Fedor to milk then bankrupt. Dream or Sengoku next?

  19. wow Says:

that shirt looks like a piece of shit

  20. KTFO Says:

To have a truly nuetral fighting experience for all involved I vote they construct a huge hamster ball, put both fighters inside, then let ‘em loose in a field. Problem solved.

  21. Jeff Says:

    More on my dream/nightmare…

Im in the arena as a spectator.

Tim Sylvia is too tall to fit inside the dome so the fight gets cancelled but Randy Couture is sitting in the audience and steps in to fight for Tim, which gets alot of applause and the accouncers go wild.

The fight begins but the blood and sweat smearing on the inside of the cage gets really bad until I can’t see any of the fight from where I’m sitting.

Fedor wins by TKO, then I wake up.

  22. Vrax Says:

Just me or does that shirt look like a tattoo flash book got so wasted it puked?

Nope, it is just me. Man, I am SO wasted.

  23. Raizor Says:

That guy in the picture used to be in a really old UK boy-band called Bros. Can’t imagine Affliction would use him to model their shirts - weird…

  24. sol Says:

that guy in the picture was also the villain in Blade 2 and is going to be the villain in the upcoming Hellboy sequel coming out in July

  25. brice Says:

wow, that actually does look like a pretty decent card. i think its safe to say ill be purchasing that one. im wondering…i live in phoenix, and often times the bars will get the UFC pay per views. i wonder if some of them could start picking the afflication one up.

then i wonder how likely it is that UFC starts scheduling their pay per views of the same night as some of the other franchises. anyone have theories on this?

  26. Seth Says:

to aryan: fuck you and your octogon, not all mma is the ufc douch bag, the closest you can get to true open space fighting is a ring, fuck a cage.

  27. alen Says:

thats not an affliction shirt dipshits

  28. Than Says:

“then i wonder how likely it is that UFC starts scheduling their pay per views of the same night as some of the other franchises. anyone have theories on this?”

    Very likely…

I am glad Fedor is fighting fighting a big UFC name, it will deff. get his name out past the hard core fans, but…I won’t be able to take it if he loses to Tim(everyone has a punchers chance).

  29. sol Says:

gotta agree with Than, when Tim knocked Big Nog I thought OH SHIT! Saying that though, after the way Fedor managed to stay up after that punch from Fujita a while back it seems like he can go the distance with Tim.

  30. Jc Says:

To Come on- Lindland went the distance with rampage not very long ago, a lot of people felt like he won it. And Seth- who like to see the ref stop and reset fighters every time there big toe goes past the rope…….rings are for fags.
