Waitaminute - let’s not just talk about the tainted supplements. Sherk also thinks that because the chain of custody at the testing site was inadequate somebody might have tainted his sample. And he’s pretty sure that there was carryover from a previous test.

That’s throwing shit at a wall. And polygraphs don’t prove anything: that’s why they aren’t admissible in court.

This all reminds me of the story (which is meant to illustrate something about Rabbinical law, I think) of the guy who borrowed a plate from his neighbor. He brings it back broken and says, “I never borrowed it. It was broken when I got it. It was fine when I returned it.” Just like with Sherk, not all of these can be true. You can’t say, “There were steroids in my piss from the supplements. But there weren’t any steroids in my piss until they tainted the sample. And the sample wasn’t tainted, the lab equipment was.” These CANNOT all be true.

And if some girl blows 3 times the BAC as me in a drunk driving screen, does that make me less drunk? Sherk has been in the game for years - he knows how to cycle off and on to avoid popping positive. This time his body just didn’t get rid of the roids as fast as it has before. He got caught and he needs to admit it.

Did he take steroids, yes, did he take them knowingly, I have no idea. Regardless, the test came back positive. He should have been suspended for 1 year. No ifs and or buts. Otherwise, any fighter who tests positive could use the lame “my supplements were tainted” excuse.

I love how “took and passed three polygraph tests” gets translated into “threw as much crap at the wall”.

No one disputes that’s the test came up 12g. Sherk has presented a tainted product. And yes that is still a positive result. Doesn’t willfulness enter into it at all for you?

See I ask about willfulness because that is the factor that separates crimes like manslaughter from aggravated murder. Our entire national justice system is based around findings of willfulness, or a lack thereof. That and serving your time. Hmm. Also the right to appeal, I mean what if an innocent man was found guilty - you know, theoretically.

Now, I prefer BJ Penn’s fighting style to Sherk’s, no doubt about it. I think Penn is also the more skilled athlete. I can hold those views without needing to attack a guy for buying a supplement which contained an illegal substance. And yes, he was responsible for for what was in his body, so he spent six months on the bench serving his sentence. And his fine remained, so he paid that. And he was stripped of the title. I think he’s got the point.

I hope you give it some thought while you’re sitting in mom’s basement dreaming of poo-tossing shemales.
