Are you fucking kidding me? How many street fights have you been in bro? I’ve been in QUITE a fucking few and let me tell you, when guys don’t wanna stand with you, either because you’re bigger or meaner looking than they are, they’ll try to tackle you. When you’re on the ground rolling around, nothing can help you more than Jiu-Jitsu training. I’ve gotten guys in RNC’s and put them out in a street fight. I’ve dislocated shoulders, dislocated elbows, and I even broke a guy’s knee once (well I think I broke it.. his leg snapped back and went limp and he started screaming bloody murder so I ran home).

Not many streetfights will stay on the feet throughout the entire fight. A great deal of them end up rolling around on the ground, and there’s nothing sweeter in this world than being in a streetfight and putting a motherfucker to sleep via RNC. Trust and believe that.

There are lots of skillful players who wear headgear to train in. Fowlkes is right on about Jardine and Silva, that shit might be such a big bang that a new universe is born. I have to agree with Goldstein about the post-fight Ortiz-gets-no-mic action. I’m also thinking that if Ortiz say, drugs Machida and wins, that Rogan will be calling it bad officiating and judging etc.

I watched UFC 73 (when Sherk beat Franca) at The Mean Fiddler in Hells Kitchen. I believe there was a $20 cover (may have included free drinks). Just be wary of the aggro DBs inside.

While my ears may not be mangled, I did manage to get a purple belt in jiu-jitsu without destroying my pretty face. Thanks for noticing.

If you’re looking for bars in NYC showing the fights, I know the Playwright in midtown usually shows it. There’s a $20 cover and it gets crowded quick, though.

Concerning Ortiz’s after fight antics, they didn’t give Arlovski the mic after he beat Jake O’Brien on the undercard a few events ago. Arlovski didn’t even have a bad rapport with UFC and they declined him post-fight words. I agree with Goldstein…unless Ortiz brings a bullhorn to the Octagon you’re not going to hear a peep out of him. Probably not going to hear a peep out of him during the fight either.
