No Kimbo, you layed there and got elbowed and if it was anyone else the fight would have been stopped 30 seconds earlier.

Just watched the kimbo/thompson fight... it was rigged. Plain and simple rigged. There was no reason to stop that fight whatsoever.

All in all I think the whole night was a bust and a bad mark for MMA.
Sadly, I think Dana White wins this round.

The first two fights ended waaaaay too quickly for how many commercials they had running. I almost went to bed myself, so I'm sure the casual fans and newcomers had tuned out by the time the ladies were up.

I must say the ladies had a good fight but that was a bunch of crap too really because GC couldnt even make weight for a class made just for her. VERY disrespectful. I still like her though, good fight.

Then the last two were stopped early by everyones account. The Lawler/Smith fight was definitley fight of the night till that debacle with the dumbass doctor. You are asking a fighter to think clearly about how and what he says while hyped up on adrenaline and in the fight of his life? "He said he couldnt see, twice" and? he also said give me the allotted 5 mins.

Then the whole Busta and dancing girls and really terrible presentation just put a sour taste in my mouth. Bye-bye mainstream MMA, again. (I really hope not)

Thompson got hosed plain and simple. He could of choked Kimbo out and the ref wouldn't have called it. But then again, thats what he gets for going in there with one Will Smith ear.

Kimbo is still a new comer, he gassed, he praticed his ground with a very big guy but not the most talented person in James "Glass Jaw". He is being babied in. I think that is ok, why would you through your golden goose to the lions just yet.

I was disappointed kimbo gassed, and i thought his ground game would be better then that. Still a fan of the underdog, War Kimbo War!

I still dont understand all the hate. He came from nothing to being something and he is devoted to it now, it got him out the gutter and he fully appriciates it. How can you hate on that?

hey ben, i didn't notice how bad thompson was. he fights with fucking heart and always comes out fearless.. he controlled manhandled kimbo on the ground in the 2nd round who's supposed to be someone who's a fucking monster trained by bas rutten. thompson, who is said to have a glass jaw (which is an idea you probably decided to hop on like a dumb faggot to feel cool or some shit) got hit in the face with a ton of clean shots from KIMBO and was still standing and ready to fight no matter what. you're a fucking tool buddy, just keep listening to what people feed you

I PVR-ed (similar to Tivo) the event so I could watch it today. So, uhhh, what the fuck? The PVR stopped recording at the 120 minute mark - as it was supposed to, which unfortunately was just before the Smith/Lawler decision. EliteXC and CBS shit the bed big time on planning out the fights, ads and intermissions. Now here I am like a jackass trying to find a torrent of a network TV program.

last night was a joke. plain and simple.

i prefer what the UFC are doing with Brock Lesnar, put him in against someone very good and you have an excuse if he loses (he lost to someone really good). Either way, Lesnar put on a good show (albeit a short one) and some people recognise that he has talent.

EliteXC however are babying Kimbo and the downside to babying him is that when something happens like last night you are basically fucked.

For anyone who is not a Kimbo nuthugger or a Kimbo hater for that fact, Kimbo performed under-par, way way under-par. He got put in with someone who has lost most of his recent fights and struggled bad, he didnt even put on a show, didnt show that he has talent.

All he showed was that he was outclassed by an average at best fighter and won the fight in the same way he has been doing on the internets, this is meant to be our representative for mainstream MMA? Really?

To all those people hating on kimbo for him taking those elbows.

He was overhyped and as you can see most people on here are thinking the same thing I am. I heard comments about how they saw how Thompson's ear was at the weigh-in and planning to zero in on it.
What did they see?
What was wrong with the ear? And if it was infected or whatever, does that mean there was a higher chance that this would happen during the fight?
Isnt there an athletic commission that verirfies the athletes condition?

you people are fucked in the head. Kimbo looked pretty shit but what where you all expecting. He was never going to come out and look top level and probbably never will be, but dont hate on him for beating whats in front of him. THompson has been going shit lateley , but he probably trained harder for this fight than any other as it was a big event on live television. Kimbo isnt the worste MMA fighter around and he isnt the best. You are all so harsh if he doesnt knock the guy out in the first twenty seconds. And dont hate on him for fightin in the street before joinin MMA because heaps of the top fighters started off fightin in the street you clowns. They just never put it on youtube and are now wishin they had. At least Kimbos street fights had some rules , basically barenuckle boxing , not thuggish stomping on heads n shit outside a bar, so i dont see why people have a problem with his past and now going pro. Basically after a couple more fights Kimbo's hype will diminish and hell become just a popular MMA fighter , he wont be headlining shows on live tv and have this mythical street brawler unbeatable tyson in his prime like tag and theres nothin wrong with that. No MMA fighter can come out and win by brutal KO in ten seconds every fight , not even the best. So if he is going to stick at this he and his fans better get used to seeing him occasionaly on his back , or being manhandled around, even losing acasionally , becuase MMA has to many differnet aspects for there to be one totally unbeatable champion. Even Randy gets beaten and so will Fedor if he had fought more top quality opponents more regularly.

Basically i reckon kimbos strikes are hard but not fluent and not fast , so his striking overall is mid level. His Ground Game is low level , yet he is strong downt there but just doesnt know how to use it that well , and his cardio is shit and probs alwyas will be shit , cos hes supposed to train the house down. I think the ground fighting really took it out of him, mabye he panicked to much and didnt relax down there enough. He will most likely never get further than a mid level fight , but i aint hatin on him for bein the headlin , or on Gary Shaw for using him as the headliner , hed be stupid if he didnt. Kimbo is popular and people want to see him fight more than two lesser know but better MMA fighters , and thats a fact so get over it you hating bastards.
PS. Dana White is an absolute cunt of a bloke , and MMA would be better without his balding ass. I cant wait till a fighter hes mouthin off at, loving his authority over , smacks him square in the face and makes his nose dissapear.

Stop analyzing the fight! or even Kimbo as a newbie to mma! That fight was fixed!...The dude had the fight won and all of a sudden he stops defending and eats punches from kimbo...happened atleast twice during the fight

This fight was to show that Kimbo fights werent fixed but it did the exact opposite. If no one took Kimbo to the ground then it would look bad ...so they got someone who would with a saving grace "the ear". He should have never been cleared to fight if they were going to stop the fight if the ear popped. It was a planned. Elite XC wont survive if Kimbo loses plain and simple. And they wont let him lose for awhile.

LOL at Ben Ramey, I like how you mentioned his extreme lack of stamina midway through the second round. As well as the "epic" display of his punching power being completely useless against a spent opponent whose known for his tendency to get K'O'ed . I dont think anyone is disputing that we would get beaten up by these guys, its that they had no place main eventing MMA's network television debut when real athletes like Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith were on the same card fighting for a title.
