Open Letter From Brett Rogers and Team Bison
Brett Rogers and Team Bison issued an open letter on the Kimbo Slice/Elite XC situation today via Rogers’s official website. I don’t think I have to tell you that it’s a riveting read. Here it is, exactly as penned by Rogers and his camp:
An Open letter to all
On behalf of Brett Rogers, Team Bison and everyone representing our camp: we would like to clarify a few issues that may be mis- interrupted by the press and the many many message boards.
First we would like to start out by once again thanking Gary Shaw and Elite XC. Elite is our home and it is where we hope to be for a long time. They treat their fighters great. More then the day to day treatment of the fighters they are interested in developing fighters and making long term commitments to their fighters. Unlike other promotions who have a tradition of “one and done” and cancelling contracts without notice; Elite is standing by their fighters. We are proud to be with the organization that brought back Yves, Sammy and Phil when others wrote them off. We were proud to be part of an organization that gave James Thompson a chance at redemption (and in our mind earned another chance on Saturday!). Elite gave us an amazing opportunity to bring aboard great sponsors who could really get their money’s worth.
We really believe in Elite and hope to bring more of our fighters up through their ranks. We do not want anyone to think for a second we are ungrateful, angry or otherwise disappointed with Gary Shaw, Elite, Showtime or CBS. And no; we have not been forced or threatened to say this and anyone who thinks we could be does not know Team Bison. Simply put; we will always speak our minds and will not be intimidated; which brings us to the Kimbo situation.
Brett had won 6 fight before coming to Elite. He struggled on the local circuit to find fights. He was pretty much avoided from day 1. The guys he fought simply provided zero competition and he put them all away early. When he fought for the regional title he fought a guy who was 10-1 and suppose to be this great striker. Brett KO’d him in under 10 seconds. We went to Hawaii where despite changing the rules as we stepped through the ropes and again during the fight; Brett KO’d his opponent. Finally we got to go BIG and face serious competition in Elite XC in Texas. The main event on that show was Kimbo Slice vs Bo Cantrall. Bo is a sub .500 fighter who was on a 4 fight losing streak when he got the call to come to Elite. On that show Brett faced Ralph Kelly who a decent up and comer with a good amateur record. Brett had a tougher opponent but got less money and a on the Under Card.
Next stop Miami where Kimbo is again the main event and blown up huge. His opponent; the venerable Tank Abbot. I believe the last time Tank won a democrat was in the White House and gas was $1.50 a gallon. Brett took on Pride veteran James Thompson for way less money and way down on the card. Brett puts him away in the 1st half of the 1st round.
CBS show. Kimbo gets the same James Thompson Brett had just KO’d. James coming in losing 3 of his last 4 and his last two straight by KO. Brett gets the opening spot against Jon Murphy. Murphy a 9-2 fighter with great Jujitsu who had impressively KO’d Dave Huckabee. Again the tougher fight for less money. 3 times running – tougher guys for less money. Not a great pattern!
And you know we would be fine with that as well; however Kimbo is not only getting the softer spots and the heavier cheddar (as they say) he is also being pushed as the monster; best fighter in the organization. As a fighter Brett is expected to want to fight the best. Our Team has a focus to be the best. Elite is our home and we are told KIMBO is the best. Now why would Brett want to fight anyone else? Every interview Brett has done since before the Kelly fight has started and ended with a Kimbo question. It is only natural he would like to answer the Kimbo question once and for all.
On a personal note: we like Kimbo very much. We have nothing but respect for him, Bas and the love and support his crew shows him. We could do with out the silliness to be sure; but hey it is the fight game and some times people just have to act that way; even if they don’t. But this isn’t about hating the man or his accomplishments. This is about being the best. We respect Kimbo does this to feed his kids, care for his family. Brett has a family too.
Fighting is about challenging yourself; testing the limits. It is about courage and strength and honor. There is no honor is fighting down a tier. Elite is saying this man is the best – We are Elite! Brett has earned the opportunity to fight the best. Everyone he has fought got dusted in the first round. It is time to see how he does at the top of card against the man they are pushing as the standard bearer.
If they believe that Kimbo is not ready for Brett; that Brett is too dangerous for Kimbo – We can accept that. Frankly there are a lot of people Brett shouldn’t be allowed to fight and maybe Kimbo is one of those people. We are fine with that decision. All we ask then is that we be allowed to be in that spot with all it’s benefits and responsibilities and take any and all comers without reservations.
This letter would not be complete without mentioning the other forgotten man in all this, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva. Antonio is a certified, absolute all around warrior. He is one of the very best heavyweight fighters in the world. We have a world of respect for Antonio and ATT and would consider it a tremendous honor to compete with him. If it was a fight for the title; if was billed as the fight between the two best fighters in Elite; we would be overjoyed. However it does not seem right that Brett and Antonio should be fighting just to see who gets to be the number 2 man behind Kimbo.
I’m willing to bet that Antonio feels the same way. As true warriors we want to fight the best and right now everything; judging by the money, the publicity and the billboards; that is Kimbo. Has Kimbo earned that spot? We are not convinced. So we are calling Kimbo out. If this is a challenge he does not feel ready to accept; that is cool. That we can understand. But it is somewhat unreasonable to ask everyone to play second fiddle – to fight tougher opponents for less money while another fighter makes bank on the also rans. Brett has fought three very tough heavy weights with legitimate skills. The result in every one of those fights was a first round KO. No decisions, no controversy just straight up cart them off wins. Yet every interview and every place he goes he hears Kimbo this, Kimbo that. Hell, if we were not asking to fight Kimbo, Gary would be ashamed of us and would be wondering what type of wimps he had fighting for him. If Kimbo is the badest man on the planet; then lets do this thing. All due respect…step up or step aside.
Thank You
Brett Rogers, Mike Reilly, and Team Bison

This is a good letter, I’ll forward it to Kimbo’s management team
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Give him the fight Mr. Shaw….
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Well the beginning of the letter reads like B.S. but the challenge thoroughly compensates for that.
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:19 pm
this is the mother fucker should be getting hated on NOT KIMBO look at his stupid ass mohawk and paited toe nails fucking fag
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:21 pm
great sum up of the situation at hand showing respect but being honest
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:34 pm
this guy is just a kimbo with no hype he fought a bunch of no namers this guy wont sell any seats that what counts! anyone in the UFC would crush this guy.
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Kimbo is like the Paris Hilton of MMA he is famous for doing nothing except for having some cool videos on the internet.
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:39 pm
@Anonymous-I don’t really se any Toe Nails in this Photo….but i do see the Mohawk….Maybe he should shave the top of his head an grow out the sides…then grow a huge unkept looking beard, wear some sort of wave cap, and get a gold grill…that is some fashion sense if you ask me….I pick Rogers Via Knocking Kimbo Out cold in the first minute of round 1!!
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:49 pm
@Anonymous- Brett Rogers knocked out Thompson in the first round, something Kimbo took 3 rounds to do, not to mention getting made to look like a fool for the first two.
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:52 pm
well said donny g, great letter, step up or step aside kimbo
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:54 pm
I think if Elite didn’t make this fight then they’d be losing the little credibility that they do have.
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:56 pm
well said, tasteful. It’s good to see this degree of respect and honesty in MMA. No that its rare but just not usually so open and ego-free….
June 3rd, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Stop hating on Kimbo, he built a name and makes elite xc money. Nobody wants to see your flappy bitch tits flop while you throw wild, untechnical haymakers. Put some asses in the seat, shave your crooked mohawlk and paste it on your face, then maybe you will marketable. Till then, fight and shut your fat ass up, because your ass wouldnt be making the money you do anywhere else.
Peace
June 3rd, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Everything he said about the competition is totally fair. He’s been fighting tougher guys and should be able to test himself. He’s shown no reason why he shouldn’t be put against the toughest guys.
All the money crap just shows him to be a moron. There wouldn’t BE as much money if Kimbo wasn’t on the card. Kimbo is being way underpaid if you look at how much of the money comes in because of his name. Not just in gate and TV ratings but advertising and such.
Shaw is interested in doing whatever he can to make money. While people will say that he should be trying to put the best fighters in the best fights, well if he goes bankrupt and can’t put on any shows then how well is that working out for everyone? He’s going to lose millions trying to make his brand successful and he needs to do whatever he can to make it as few millions lost as possible.
How about you get a few million people to tune in and watch you fight because of who you are Mr Rodgers and then bitch about not getting paid your due. Of course that’s what he is trying to do by being the man to beat Kimbo. But Shaw isn’t going to let that happen. Trust me. If Kimbo gets his ass kicked then we’re probably looking at once less fighting orginization to put fights on free TV.
June 3rd, 2008 at 4:29 pm
Hey rogers leave that faggot orginization and go to a better one, elite xc is nothing but a shitstain on the inside of myasshole. They were great until i watched the cbs event, fuk i hope it goes under. I dont hate Kimbo, i hate gary shaw, god what a disgrace he is, go back to wwe fatso.
June 3rd, 2008 at 4:32 pm
if Elite XC doesn’t start putting paydays for their more experienced fighters, they won’t be elite for long. fighters put in years of training and financial suffering, usually while working two jobs, to get to a point where they can fight professionally to support a family, and now you got an off the street brawler making huge paydays - that’s not going to work out in the end - fighters won’t stand for it.
Here’s a little info:
Kimbo vs Tank Abbot - Kimbo wins and makes $175,000
Brett Rogers vs James Thompson - Rogers wins by KO in 1st round and makes $4,000
I’m assuming Kimbo got at least the same money to fight James Thompson, its a pity Rogers got only 4K to KO Thompson in the 1st round.
June 3rd, 2008 at 4:36 pm
Fuck Rogers and his 4 thousand, it doesnt matter who you fight and how many fights you win, but how many people come to see you. Look at Baroni. Made 100000 against Shamrock, and he sucks with a shit record. It is about money, and whether ytou can produce
June 3rd, 2008 at 4:48 pm
Kimbos is soooo weak in terms of MMA skills. I honestly think they will not put this fight on because Kevin WILL lose it in the first round. By submission, Kimura, done from Half-Guard. Wait no….RNC and Kimbo doesn’t tap, he just falls asleep dreaming he could just go back to days of youtube. lol =-)
June 3rd, 2008 at 4:53 pm
kimbo makes them money. bret doesnt. james thomson was a better choice for the main event because of this looks and he’s white.
June 3rd, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Props to Rogers!!! Even though I donot particularly care for him. It is about time someone has the balls to step up and SPEAK the truth, or AT LEAST how they feel.
GOod for him saying that he is given harder fights for far less change….and if Kimbo is “the man” then let the up and comers in the organization have a chance at the spotlight.
Good for Bret, saying that…. I liked that he wants Shaw to place SLice against the fighters in THE ELITEXC HW DIVISION that have earned it.
It isnt fair to the other HW in ELite’s stable if they are continued to be fed hard fights with LITTLE to be gained, while they continue to feed the ATM(Kimbo) easy fights just to pad his pocketbook. What is sad is that Shaw will continue to look “outside” Elite top bring in cans for Kimbo to look good against, instead of letting the fighters within the HW division sort out a champ and a number 1 contender.
How is that gonna pan out if Shaw wants a HW title by the end of 2008. Kimbo fights horrible competitors OUTSIDE the organization, while the others in ELiteXC HW division fight each other and give each other losses WITHIN the division??? How will that work??? Is it just a given that SLice has to do NOTHING in the stable of ELITEXC’s HW fighters and will get to fight for the TITLE???? Just sad!!
June 3rd, 2008 at 5:51 pm
they only have kimbo fight b rated fighters, to make him more known in the hope of him going undefeated. im not impressed by him at all. once he fights someone who is actually goo, then i will acknoknowlwge him. ray mercer, bo cantrell, tank abbot, and james thompson all sucked. hands down. i never even heard of two of those guys.
make him fight a real MMA fighter, someone who has good ground and stand up, not some 40 year old guy from jail, or some sucky debt colllector.
i say kimbo vs fedor!!
lol. at least kimbo vs a good fighter.
June 3rd, 2008 at 6:02 pm
This is actually a susprisingly classy to air the Team’s greviences and call out Slice. Well done by them.
June 3rd, 2008 at 6:21 pm
Are you fuckin crazy, Rogers??
June 3rd, 2008 at 6:38 pm
few ppl commenting get it. sure rogers could probably beat kimbo… that is pretty much obvious to everyone (including non-mma fans).
THE POINT IS, NO ONE CARES ABOUT ROGERS OR WILL WATCH AN EVENT HEADLINED BY HIM.
who is he?? i dont know because i don’t care.
*even if you hate kimbo, you will watch the event because you hate him*.
/end thread
June 3rd, 2008 at 6:49 pm
to hell with all Elite XC and Shaws preggo eggo twat waffled ass. this is stupid to even speak about cuz all they produce is garbage MMA.
June 3rd, 2008 at 7:03 pm
I’m a kimbo fan. I like the way he fights and I like his wacky hip hop personality. With that being said I think right now Brett Rogers is the superior fighter.Kimbo needs more training and more fights before he can take on Rogers. Rogers was on the main card so he needs to stop worrying that he makes less money.
Brett please stop being a randy couture.
June 3rd, 2008 at 7:16 pm
I won’t watch Kimbo because he’s a can. I like to watch good MMA. EliteXC is D league.
June 3rd, 2008 at 7:22 pm
its all very simple
Kimbo makes Elite way too much money right now to risk a knockout at the hands of rogers
therefore, he will not be fighting rogers anytime soon.
Shaw and Elite will milk Kimbo as long as he is a cash cow (but i do think he lost alot of fans with his crappy performance that night)
June 3rd, 2008 at 7:22 pm
Kimbo’s a joke. Period. He’ll never be anything. If EliteXC becomes the biggest MMA org in America, we all lose.
June 3rd, 2008 at 7:35 pm
I totally agree, brett has shown the ability to be a top contender if not a champion already. I have followed both kimbo and brett since the begining and believe brett to show more honor and skill in the ring than kimbo. I believe kimbo was exposed for what he really is, which is a 1 punch side show act. anybody with minimal ground skills could have put him away on saturday. I hope this fight will happen soon so brett can get the exposure and the dues he is deserved.
June 3rd, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Speak the truth and out loud!!!
Is Kimbo’s career not starting to sound like a bad pro wresting gimmick.
Kimbo needs to get rid of his band of fat losers that follow him like he is leaking money when he walks. Most real fighters have 3 maybe 4 corner people not 15.
June 3rd, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Look at all these new faces posting comments.
Maybe Kimbo WAS good for MMA………
June 3rd, 2008 at 8:35 pm
You stupid fuck. Kimbo lost a lot of fans with his crappy performance!? The guy has had 4 prof fights and trained for only two or less years, and Thompson was motivated, trained hard and had much more experience. KImbo did damn well and showed his real MMA skills.
I have followed MMA for ten years! And all you newb idiots spouting shit make me sick. Who the fuck are you to say his performance is crappy.
As for Rogers I feel for him and fully understand his POV. Unfortunately for him, its maybe not that wise to bite the hand that feeds him (and that includes KImbo). Also, he has to realise that Kimbo puts bums on seats. However, I can understand his frustration as he is the better fighter and really, if Elite XC wants to be credible they should make the best fighters fight at the top of the rung. Difficult situation for all.
June 3rd, 2008 at 9:14 pm
A legitamate organization should be concerned about promoting #1 vs. #2. Unless all that organization cares about is a circus atmosphere. Rogers hits it on the head, why promote #10 if he is just a joke for ratings.
June 3rd, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Even if they did fight, they’d find a way to fix it for Kimbo. Gary Shaw take your piece of shit ass back to boxing you fuckin crook.
June 3rd, 2008 at 10:08 pm
I dont believe that Brett wrote this letter.
Actually, I dont think he could spell letter if you gave him the consonants.
Johnnynuthugger likes Kimbo’s “wacky hip hop personality”.
Just say you want him to teabag you, wont you?
>so he needs to stop worrying that he makes less money.
I think the right words are “Fuck you bitch!”
Who the fuck are you to tell him that?
He’s in the business to make money, not so that some lame brained jerkwad can get his kicks. Like any job, if he feels he can make more elsewhere he will.
But he is one of their top fighters and should be paid as such: based on merit.
And in case you think Im an Elite hater (we can all agree though they are a tier 3 organization, not remotely close to WEC, the british CAGE, DREAM or others that come somewhere after the UFC level), Vanna White did the same thing with Lesnar (who looked freaking good against Mir) and that was one of the reason Sylvia was pissed since Lesnar, with only one previous MMA fight made 2.5 times more than the ex-champ for his fight.
I get that there is also the promotional aspect and visibility issues that certain names bring that are in play but Rogers got only 4,000$ to beat Thompson.
If you dont stand up, they’ll keep pulling that stuff.
June 3rd, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Shaw doesn’t seem to realize how much he’ll be shooting himself in the foot if he continues to match Kimbo up with second tier opponents in main events. Diehard MMA fans won’t continue to tune in unless Kimbo fights a legitimately good opponent, period.
Before Saturday, most fans didn’t realize how far Kimbo has to go before he’s at the top level. Now that he’s been exposed, it’s insulting to our intelligence if he continues to A) be promoted by EXC as a top fighter and B) gets matched up with weak opponents.
But Shaw is going to milk Kimbo for all he can RIGHT NOW by matching him up with weak opponents and continuing to put him in main events. In the LONG RUN, that is going to kill EXC’s credibility as a legit fighting organization and they’ll be written off by MMA fans that actually care about the sport.
June 3rd, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Kimbo is a fucking joke, period.
That fight was rigged, and ExliteXC will just do like they did in the last Kimbo fight: Rig it to save their posterboy.
fucking embarrassing
June 3rd, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Fucking cry babies… is not about Rogers, is about who is the most popular and can put out the best show… fucking little bitches, all they do is cry and cry. Just focus on your shit, make sure you are putting out a good show and things will come… Jealous sons of bitches…
June 3rd, 2008 at 11:31 pm
sorry rogers you cant fight kimbo, there are two requirements to fight kimbo- bein washed up and having a glass chin
June 4th, 2008 at 12:07 am
Honestly I think that Shaw should stop protecting Kimbo like he does. Sure he puts asses in seats and there is a lot of hype around him. Don’t you think he would put a lot more in seats if they challenge him with top contenders? Honestly you can’t knock out shitty people and call yourself the best. If that was the case, I would march over to an elementary school and knock out the school bully. Does that make me a bad ass? Fuck no. (It makes me a felon lol)
As for Kimbo losing fans, I don’t that is entirely the case. I am pretty sure everyone who is disappointed with Kimbo’s performance (my dad included) will watch his next fight to see if he has improved, or he actually gets his ass kicked completely. For me, being a Kimbo fan for as long as he has been putting out fight videos, I would really love to see Kimbo knock out someone worthy of being knocked out.
June 4th, 2008 at 12:55 am
The ‘Kimbo bubble’ is going to burst very soon, you saw how crap he was against Thompson, my guess is you will see even more in his next fight and by the time the next one comes around no moron will be able to come on any blog and sing his praises……..it’s now time for Kimbo to crash and burn!!! you cannot stay at the top of MMA when you have no talent and he certainly doesnt have it for the cage…maybe the street yes where he is fighting untrained unskilled fighters who are out of shape…let me say again…it is now time for Kimbo to crash and burn!!!
June 4th, 2008 at 2:05 am
err… what seamus just said. kimbo needs to go back to fighting bodybuilders who’ve never had a fight before but look REALLY BIG because as we all truly know deep down inside that only being really big makes a good fighter, skill, technique, experience, talent, speed, power, accuracy, conditioning… none of these factors matter. take more pills an lift more weights. grr. kimbo lost that fight if he didn’t have the ref in his corner so now he’s gonna have to fight fighters below JT.
June 4th, 2008 at 5:38 am
Elite XC is asking for this kind of trouble by writing checks for Kimbo that he cannot cash. I heard Shaw say on Sirius radio that “Kimbo is on the Mt Rushmore of Elite XC”. Really…Mt Rushmore…after 4 professional fights? The problem with Elite XC is that they are focusing on marketable fighters instead of quality fighters. They have a ridiculous opportunity with their CBS contract and should be able to bring in fighters like Fedor and Silva and Arlovsky…but NO, they see the marketing potential in Kimbo and hitch their wagon up to their one trick pony. It doesn’t matter if a person has marketing potential, we want to see QUALITY FIGHTS!
They absolutely should give Rogers a shot at fighting Kimbo. For f@cks sake, you still have Kimbo in the main card and people will tune in to watch him get his ass beat. At the very least, Shaw has to have a contingency plan for if something happens to Kimbo. We’ve seen on UFC 87 how many people are out due to training injuries. What if Kimbo gets injured? Are they going to cancel their next CBS fight? Who’s the “other star” in Elite XC? Is Elite XC just the “Kimbo Show”? If so, they are a joke and they won’t make it a year.
I’m so sick of Kimbo at this point. I mean, look at how the UFC positions their fighters. They could have coddled their newest marketing tool (Lesnar), but instead put him up against a former heavyweight champion and he got tapped out. Now we get to see Lesnar grow as an MMA fighter and see if he’s got the salt to make something of himself. With Elite XC, we’re being asked to accept that this guy is a headliner at face value, when all he’s got is hype.
Good thing this sh!t is free…

This letter drones on and on and on and on……
June 4th, 2008 at 7:45 am
Love it
June 4th, 2008 at 8:10 am
@sol
Kimbo never knocked out James Thompson, it was a TKO(injury)
June 4th, 2008 at 8:29 am
Years ago early fans may have been impressed with hype and a big name, but now that MMA has errupted into the fastest growing sport in the world, we true fans want great fighters, not hype. KIMBO is nothing but hype. Sure he beat some asses on the internet, but those were just street toughs. KIMBO would probably beat most “regular” guys up, but this is professional MMA, and KIMBO does not have the skills to back all this hype behind him. 3-0. Big deal. The ref had to stop the Thompson fight right when it looked like KIMBO was winning, it was the only way Elite could save its poster boy. Talk about a close call. You know Gary Shaw was shittin bricks up untill that point. He probably gave the ref a bonus for the “stoppage of the night call that saved my organization”. Brett Rogers is not the greatest fighter in the world either, but you cannot argue with what he’s saying. There is no hype behind him and he is knocking out everyone who they are putting in front of him. Lets test both him and Kimbo, the two big bad ass heavyweights of Elite and see who the best is. Having a poster boy for your organization that cannot back up their hype is going to be worse for Elite in the long run, rather than somone who can actually fight but they feel they cannot market. Make your money now Gary Shaw, and prostitute out KIMBO as much as you can with huge hype and washed up fighters (Bo Cantrel, Tank, Thompson) because all of us can see right through this and we know bullshit when its thrown right in our face. Gary is in this to make money, pure and simple, not to provide fans with great match ups.

I agree with phantom on this. great letter brett. hopefully this will get kimbo to man up. but I doubt shaw would roll that dice.
how about kimbo vs gina @ maybe 180-190?
June 4th, 2008 at 10:22 am
“we would like to clarify a few issues that may be mis- interrupted by the press and the many many message boards”
I know I hate it when my words are … huh?
June 4th, 2008 at 10:59 am
To all the people talking trash about ‘who is rogers?’ How about Elite XC push him a little? Give him a little hype as a legitimate HW threat. Heck, put him against Kimbo, then they can hype him as the man who KO’d Kimbo Slice.
June 4th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Kimbo would get killed!
June 4th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Kimbo would kill him.
@ the letter: The fucking reason Kimbo is the headline on the card, is because of the people who just want to watch that fight. Idk if you knew, but CBS got 3.8 million viewers tuning in at the beginning of the fight, they got around 8 million viewers at the end. To see Kimbo.
Kimbo is big, brett is a faggot. Kimbo will kill him easy.

June 4th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
I think brett rogers will beat kimbo via “beard bar”. hahahahahaha
June 4th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Word, and War, Brett.
Kimbo is a top-200 heavyweight, maybe top-150. Rogers is probably a top-100 heavyweight. He has shown balls, and character, and a willingness to mix it up inside and outside the ring.
Elite XC should grow up and let Rogers ride the hype machine, build his persona, and sell some tickets. Why? Cuz Rogers will back it up. Kimbo is a can with a colorful story.
June 4th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
this is all bs, it was only Kimbo’s 3rd legit mma fight going against a guy with 22 fights who beat the likes of Yoshida who beat Mark Hunt. Kimbo was a stand-up specialist under bareknuckle rules would have destroyed Thompson or Brett that is Kimbo’s domain and world. it’s like expecting Anderson Silva could beat Roy Jones in boxing, most people are clueless and are forgetting that reality. Kimbo never tapped it was clearly a thumbs up and needs time to develop his ground just like anyone else in mma. He’s the top hyped because of his stand-up domain skills and potential, which creates the draw, Brett did not do that prior to getting into MMA, plain and simple facts…
June 4th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Um, Brett Rogers has had only seven fights. Kimbo has had four. Brett is about eight years younger and doesnt come with all the street fighting experience. If the street fighting experience dont count for shite, then stop hyping Kimbo already. What does Rogers have to do — grow a beard and shave his head bald?
June 4th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
just let them have the fight; they are both worthless fighters in a worthless organization.
June 5th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
i wish i could grow a frohawk.
June 5th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
I think the Elitexc is great but after watching Kimbo’s recent fight if they found a real competitor with anywhere decent handspeed/groundgame he would CRUSH Kimbo. Not to say Kimbo doesnt have goddamn bricks in his hands. But if you can avoid the haymaker, or push it aside and come in with a 1-2, clinch left knee to the liver (props to Bas) maybe 1-2 knees to the head or body, then try to take Kimbo down hes nullifed. Had that been a DECENT fighter, not saying James Thompson wasnt good, but i mean he had a crucifix and i think was afraid he would brake one his sally nails 22 unanswered elbows and you couldnt but kimbo out? I think Kimbo needs to find a decent camp, stay away from the internet porn a while Hit the roadwork, jumping rope, speedbag, GROUNDGAME, he could get a few decent wins. I think Kimbos problem is he didnt look hungry to me, He was fighting like he knew had the fight won. Thats the only problem I have with ANY forms of combat sports, when people fight to win by Decision instead of a KO, or SUB
“The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses. Behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road long before I dance under those lights” — Ali
that fight left a bad taste in my mouth… something im sure Gina Carano’s *meow* wouldnt.

The main argument out of Kimbo fans is “Kimbo puts people in the seats and makes money.” This is Dana White’s point, it is a freak show. “LADIES AND GENTLEMAN!!!! Step right up and see the amazing face puncher guy! He has no ground skills and very little experience but he beat up a lot of dummy’s from his neighborhood!”

Kimbo is a gd joke and everybody that knows MMA knows it to be the truth. It’s really sad what Elite and Kimbo have done to MMA. They’re basiclly turning it into some kind of WWF freak show.

you know whats funny, is that rogers isnt even that special. just heavy haymakers as fast as he can throw them. im sorry but he really is just an average fighter at best, so i guess he’ll get his wish though when he fights kimbo and kimbo makes quick work of him.

dont understand all this negativity on kimbo……all I see is kimbo aint this, kimbo aint that…..ay u gotta start some where, right? He is new to the pro game, and tru dat , they hype him, and thats because of youtube, peeps know about him , so when u put a “BUM”
{as yaw call him} up against “Real” fighters , they hype it, they hype it cuzz we have seen him kill foo’z on youtube, they hype it cuzz he is in the pro ranks now…dont blame this on kimbo, blame it on yourself for watchin all his youtube videos, “WE” made kimbo, not elitexc, so now are we mad?? he should be fighting the bums, he is fresh meat, but wait till this “BEAST” becomes “TAMED”….. watch out

wow really some of you dumb asses make me sick. MMA isnt about how much money you make or how many people come to see you. MMA is a challenge, we train, an we fight. I bet half the shit talkers on this page dont even fight they sit on there fat asses an watch it on TV. so piss off.
Rogers should fight Kimbo anyone who thinks kimbos a good fighter I pity you, kimbo has zero ground game, an only became famous because of those street fights on youtube. i think the organization is to afraid to set them up because they”ll have to watch there “celebrity”Kimbo lose.
