The referees were horrible.
Lets revisit all the bad calls of UFC 85:
1) Vega stoppage. This is the same ref that let Kimbo take 20 unanswered shots from the bottom.
2) Marquardt point deduction for the strike to the back of the head. That wasn't an illegal strike whereas
3) The pile driver was an illegal move that was not penalized.
4) The Thiago Tavarez upkick to the face of Matt Wiman during the first round. Wiman clearly had his knees on the ground.
At least there weren't any controversial decisions. I don't know where these state athletic commisions are getting their people, but they really need to re-evaluate their HR department.

Marquardt should be suspended. He is an experienced fighter that no doubt knows better than to use a stupid bitch move like that. He only did it because of the point deductions. I lost all respect for that fool. I hope he doesn't get that rematch. You lost! face it and let it go!

Ya I mean it isn't really hard to to just know the rules and call violations when you see them, why is it so difficult for refs sometimes?

That's a very dangerous move and can cause a fighter some serious damage.

When Mr. Marquardt went for that piledriver, it's clear winning the match was no longer an option. He wanted hurt his opponent in the worst way possible. Nate has no one but himself to blame to intentionally throwing that match away. In addition, the ref in that match needs to get the same punishment for allowing that move to take place as well as the guilty party. A total lack of professional displayed on both ends.
