$20,000 TUF 7 Finale Bonuses Go to McFedries, Hazelett, Burkman
“Best of the Night” bonuses for last night’s Ultimate Fighter 7 finale were $20,000 apiece, and were given out thusly:
Knockout of the Night: Andrew McFedries for his 68-second trouncing of Marvin Eastman (above).
Submission of the Night: Dustin Hazelett for his insane somersault-off-the-back armbar of Josh Burkman. Animated gif after the jump.
Fight of the Night: Dustin Hazelett (again) and Josh Burkman for their two-round war; their fight can be seen free on UFC.com.

fisher and stephens was a good fight too. evan tanner needs to go back to drinking beer…and shaving…. kendall grove hardly looked impressive but tanner looked worse. and when is cecil peoples going to get fired?? honestly does he watch the matches or just geuss??? 29-28 tanner???? cmon dude. YOU SUCK. no way that should have been a split decision unless you get points for pushing people against the fence while getting punched, kneed, and elbowed. ok, i think im done ranting.

I think all three judges got it wrong. It was pretty clear to me that Grove should have won 29-28, or maybe 29-27 (second round 10-8). I think Tanner definitely won the third round, as Grove was fighting for a decision and Tanner was trying to finish. But round one was definitely Kendall’s and round two was a massacre. It pains me to see judges score the fight wrong. In this case, all three got it wrong. The right guy won the fight, but I am still left wondering what the hell these judges were watching?

if beating Evan Tanner warrants a title shot (see Yushin Okami), then let me get in the ring with him. That main event was terrible, Riddle vs Rivera was a decent match considering it was Riddle’s pro MMA debut.
I think Sub and K.O. went to the right places, but ill have to check out the Hazelett fight on UFC.com later, of the aired fights I enjoyed Sanchez-Fiorovanti the most. Well I enjoyed Amir making CB tap the most but that was so short

Diego fight of the night??????
No way. Diego could not even take down Luigi. And in each round 4 of each 5 minutes were spent circling each other.
Luigi was “fed” to Diego because the TUF winner had lost 2/3 of his last fights, so they need to market him and make him look like superstar again. Diego was -500 favorite…..Whenever you are that much of a favorite, you are supposed to win EASILY and usually within round 1.
A couple good exchanges from Diego, but do you really think he can do that to an A level fighter??? Answer, no. He has tried but looked bad in his 2 losses.

just checked out Burkman-Hazelett on UFC.com, honestly, you should too while its still free, easily the fight of the night, Hazelett was going after all sorts of subs in the first round and the second was more striking. Reminded me of the Tavares-Wiman fight, it definitely deserved fight of the night bonus.

Man, I miss Evan Tanner. He looked good his last few fights even if he lost, in this fight he just looked drunk from the get-go. It’s unfortunate because I hate Kendall Grove.

Tanner has enough heart for everyone in the UFC. I enjoyed watching him leave it all in the cage. He gave us many years of and its too bad he couldn’t leave fighting another veteran. Someone more his age. Has anyone heard anything about Couture is he going to be able to fight without getting to the ring/cage via walker.

Tanner’s reflexes are completely shot … still has a beating heart, but his ability to respond to oncoming attacks is nil and void at this point.
IMO Grove will get iced again the second his chin is clipped, he’ll always carry that fault with him into every fight. You can condition yourself to the utmost, and that may help a little, but if your chin can be chinked then it can always be chinked.
Let’s see Jason MacDonald (after he loses to Rousmar) vs Grove in a true loser leaves The UFC bout, hmm?
Also, while this is sort of off subject … it is based in the middleweight class. Who’d like to see Patrick Cote vs Mikey Bisping in the future (no matter the outcome of Cote’s fight against Almeida)? I think Mikey would get flogged like the cav/pikey bastard that he is…lol (sorry, but the arsehole has rubbed me the wrong way for some time now, and I’m sitting back and waiting for the day when he gets iced by a big striker).
Thoughts on that fight guys?

anyone know where to find the undercard vids?

Eastman hung in there after eating the shots. He kept trying but it was all for not. He’s been getting KO’d a bit over his past few fights but he came out fighting. Could’ve been a runner/dancer so I give him credit for that, even if it wasn’t a great display of striking/defending on his part.
RIP Evan Tanner. That sucked. I was hoping he was going to beat Da-DA-Duh Spider’s ass. That was the biggest piss off. That and seeing Luigi come into the fight looking sloppy. I wanted “the best MMA fighter in the world on the ground” to have his attitude readjusted.
CB “Never Tapped” Dollaway did what I wanted. LOST. Good one, Amir. Maybe CB will look at not just using his upper lip to speak, among other things. And does his head always have to be cocked back and to the side in his interviews?
