I always thought it was "Lay and Prey", rather than "Lay and Pray"?

@fightfan
The interview was in Portuguese, some guy just translated it into broken English.

@Elk Snot
You're wrong. When one fighter lays on to of another one for the whole fight, the fighter on top is always favored in decisions. People bitch about lay and pray fighters because they do nothing the whole fight and then almost always *win*. It wouldn't make any sense your way.

Can anyone clarify this for me? The guys at Fightlinker all seem to think that lay and pray is when the dominant fighter just lays there praying for the decision rather than working towards improving his position.
I've always been under the impression that lay and pray is when the fighter on bottom has his opponent in closed guard and attempts to prevent the dominant fighter from posturing up by pinching his arms under his own, thereby looking like he's praying on his back. I wanted to blast half of them anyway for thinking Machida is a pussy, but didn't want to look like a jackass in the process.

That is the 2nd funniest thing I seen today. The first being an interview with Machida where he states that Dana White almost vomit when he in Tito triangle. In Machida's broken English it sounded hilarious
