I don’t think Koscheck is saying that there is nobody in the LW division to fight BJ - I think he’s saying that if there was nobody there, he’d consider a move.

Fair enough, but would be bad for Kos’s career I would think.

BJ would destroy Josh, Penn is a much much more skilled all around fighter with sick ground and with his recent ownage of The Shark his stand up is just as tight. ez

Another example of why this blog is minor league. Nowhere did anyone say or even slightly imply Josh Koscheck is the savior of the lightweight divsion or that the division needs saving. Koscheck popped off about BJ Penn and the reporter reported it, nothing more or less.

I seriously dislike this guy. Koscheck should try fighting top ten guys in his own weight class before he thinks about trying to fight a champion at any weight class.

Once again a B level fighter gets handed to Koscheck. If he beats Lytle what does that win do for his career. Lytle is a great guy but he’s no where near top ten. Koscheck needs to prove he is a top ten fighter by beating top ten fighters. A decision against Sanchez is not enough. GSP beat his ass, so now he figures he needs to go to lightweight to win a belt. But I see a long line for that fight.

And his head still looks like a used Q-tip

@mmacoach: Dude that was Koscheck’s 4th of 5th fight, against a guy who was on his 30th. He was still green, if he fought Fickett again he would beat him handily.

Big fan of BJ but he’s far from unbeatable in the sense that “tougher” competition from other weight classes need to cut in line to pose a threat. All the weight class jumping that so many fighters in the UFC are talking about doing, hypothetical or not, is bordering on ridiculous. There is only one legitimate person moving because they’ve wiped out their weight class and one other, off the top, who needed to move down all along. Other than those two, the rest need to stick around and prove something first.
