Brock Lesnar’s Positive Image Campaign Continues

Something about Brock Lesnar rubs some people the wrong way. Maybe it’s his attitude or his wanton homophobia. Or maybe it’s because, as an ex-WWE star, he’s getting big money in the UFC without ever having proved himself as an MMA fighter. Fortunately Lesnar has an answer for that last one. As he told the Baltimore Sun’s MMA blog, he’s paid his dues in other ways:
MMA Stomping Grounds: How would you respond to fans of the sport and fighters lower on the totem pole who believe you got a big push because of your popularity in wrestling?
Lesnar: Tough [expletive deleted], buddy. Get in line. That’s just the way it is. This is a business and it’s a sport, it’s entertainment and it’s all three of those words wrapped into one. [UFC president] Dana White and [co-owners] the Fertitta brothers didn’t buy this company to say, ‘Hey let’s see if we can run this thing into the ground and not make a dime.’ They bought it to make millions and make it what it is, and that’s what they are doing. I’m just trying to have fun and get a little piece of the pie. I really enjoy it. I’m proud and honored to be a part of it. And it’s not like I didn’t pay any dues either. I wrestled amateur when I was 5 years old and put more miles in airplanes and working out. I’m 31 this year and I’ve paid dues. If [other fighters] want to be mad I think they should focus on how they can become a big contributor. They are mad because they aren’t making any money.
Well, that should smooth things over. Is it me, or does Brock Lesnar always find some way to mention how much he hates flying? He hates it so much he counts it as time spent paying dues. Later in the same interview he does it again, even projecting his hatred of airplanes on other Minnesotans:
MMA Stomping Grounds: Are you looking forward to fighting in Minnesota?
Lesnar: Oh, absolutely. Any time I don’t have to get on an airplane and to be in front of my hometown [fans] is great. The state of Minnesota has been great to me and now people that want to come and see this and witness a UFC event don’t have to get on a plane and spend a lot of money. It’s right in the backyard and it’s a good thing for the city and for the state.

If Steve Mazzagoti wouldnt have stopped the fight the first time like an idiot, chances are Brock would have beat Mir. A simple warning for an accidental hit to the back of the head would have been sufficient. Hell even deduct a point from Lesnar but to completely stop the fight was ridiculous.

I did watch the fight. I watched it live and have the UFC Unleashed on my DVR. I didn’t know Frank Mir’s ear was on the back of his fucking head. I just rewatched it and what do ya know? One fucking BLOW!!! I will give you two…maaaybe. But Mazagtti was overzealous in taking a fucking point away.

Dont give Brock shit. First of all Dana pushed his first fight way more than it should have. And even if dana chose to do it because of the money he was paying him that because of the ppv buys that brock earned. Second, if the guy that Brock loses to goes directly to a title shot there is something wrong with that if he is not legit. Maybe the guy doesn’t have enough exp, but dont bash him for talent.

i’ve watched that fight half a dozen times and i counted four blows straight to the back on Mir’s skull. Lesnar has no skills, just brute strength and a “fuck the rules” attitude that is going to wind up getting another fighter hurt big time. Lesnar’s a punkass bitch with no business being in the UFC… hell, my record is better than his now, where they fuck is my contract. Lesnar’s there just because he’s a big name, but his name isn’t going to save his ass in the cage. in his first big match, he just about got disqualified for illegal hits, and then a minute later just about had his leg snapped in half. don’t try and argue with reality, you’re wasting your time.

For all the people who say that Lesnar doesn’t have any ground game: Before he was a “Professional Wrestler”, he was a two time big ten champion and one time NCAA Heavyweight champion with a final combined high school and collegiate record of 106 wins to 5 losses. The boy can grapple just fine, and just because he got caught with a heel hook in his MMA debut (not counting his K1 fight, because he never would have had to worry about a heel hook in K1, but I digress) doesn’t make him a bad on the ground, it makes him cocky and overconfident. He tried to stand up and move around a submissionist on the mat, and Mir bit him in the ass for it, just as he should have.
Second: No warning for strikes to the back of the head? Come on, let’s be serious. Mazzagatti could have given a warning instead of standing them up, particularly in light of the fact that Mir was GIVING Lesnar the back of his head. The rule is in place to keep people from getting hurt, not to give you time to recover from a brutal ass whipping by burying your head in the mat. I count 3 shots just behind the ear, and two strikes directly to the back of the head, which Mir gave up of his own volition. A warning would have sufficed. Instead, Referee Steve stands them up, possibly breaking Lesnar’s momentum and concentration (or possibly not). I don’t agree with the call, but it isn’t my call, and at this point, it’s moot.
And ok, the guy doesn’t like gays, and there’s a significant chance he’s a latent homosexual himself. That makes him a hypocrite, not a shitty fighter. He needs work on his GnP, particularly the setup for those hammerblows (they weren’t anywhere near high enough - he could have done MUCH more damage) , and he needs work on his escapes. His jabs were mostly arm, but they did the job, at least on Frank. But his biggest problem looks to me like he was all nerves. He looked tense as hell, and Frank, as usual, looked loose and calm. We all know Lesnar has ridiculous amounts of power, but he’s too flipping tight to use it effectively. He needs to just relax a bit, and realize that as a GnP fighter, his strategy is gonna be pretty damned simple and to the point.
Whether he’s been working on those things, we find out in a week when he fights Herring, but even if he hasn’t, he’s got a decent chance to win the fight, given that he’s a mountain of a man and probably as agile as a middleweight, and Herring doesn’t have the size advantage he’s used to. The rest of looked pretty good.
And hell, it may be BAD, but I can think of worse epiphets than “the ****sucker who lost to Frank Mir”. At least he didn’t start doing it IN the octagon.

And now he has the nerve to say “who gives a s*** about fedor” ,,,HAHAHA, well brock will when and if fedor gets the chance to smash his head in or break and arm or leg. and F dana white for disrespecting all the other fighters who have actually earned a title shot. this A-hole is more worried about marketing than the integrity of the sport.
