"Rampage" Jackson Is Just A Little Banged Up
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson did not suffer serious injury in his bout with Forrest Griffin at UFC 86, as was initially feared. Instead of waiting until January to get back in action, the former champ was cleared by a doctor to get back in the gym next week, trainer Juanito Ibarra said:
"After the fight, he had a knot the size of a cantaloupe on his shin," Jackson's trainer, Juanito Ibarra, told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I've never seen anything like it in all the years I've been in the fight game. It was ugly. The next day it went down. Today, there's no bump at all. The doctor said he's fine. It's a deep bone bruise now. He's totally fine. There's no damage. All we're waiting for now is the rematch."

This is good news for the UFC, whose options just got better with so many possible light heavyweight matches at their disposal.
As for Ibarra, he insists he is not going back on his vow to retire if Jackson lost:
"I'm not going anywhere. I don't go against my word, but look at the video. Did it say I'm retiring from the fight game? No. You know what I'm retiring from? The waterfront. I've been a longshoreman for 28 years. I'm retiring from the waterfront."

The 'champ' should never have let the fight go a decision if he wanted to keep the belt. Everyone knows the judges scorecards can be unpredictable. If he wanted to keep the belt, he should have put Forest out.
Rampage needs a couple more wins before he gets a shot. The win over Liddel was questionable.. Lucky punch, or maybe the fight should have went another 5 seconds to see if Liddel recovered.
Either way, Forest won since Rampage coulsn't finish him like a champ..

That fight was too close and too good for there not to be a rematch. A champion deserves his due, and I think any champion that looses a fight that was that close should get an immediate rematch. We may disagree who actually won the fight, but I think we could all agree that it was much closer than the judges scored it.

Are you being serious or not...? Rampage demolished Chuck (for the second time). Chuck looked out of his mind for a few minutes after the fight ended. Another 5 seconds would have just given Rampage time to knock Chuck unconscious.

Either way, Rampage couldn't finish Forest. If he wants to be the champ, the decision can't go to the judges.
Rampage needs a couple more convincing fights to get another shot at Lidell or Forest.

I think the Rampage stoppage against Chuck was justified since it sided on fighter safety. I see your point about letting a man truly fight for the title but that brings up the question of whether you should ref/judge a title fight differently than any other fight (I don't think you should but thats just me).
I definitely agree with the later half of your post. I don't think anyone can be too upset at a decision, especially one as close as the Rampage-Forrest fight. I also agree that Rampage needs at least one non-title fight victory before he earns another shot.

on the ratings side of things i think a rematch is most certinly in order. however it would be a sin to put off all the other fighters in one of the most teeth nashing nail bighting weight classes in the ufc. handing a new commer like rampage another tittle shot so soon after a loss is ethicly wrong. thiago silva 12/0, wanderlei silva 32/8, lyota machida 13/0 and rashad evans 16/0. handing a rematch to rampage before any of these guys in my opinion is morraly and ethicly wrong. with that aside i could care less who fights. knowing what these guys bring to the table you can bank on it being a knock down war.
