Just How Troubled Is Rampage? (Pt. 2)

Quinton Rampage Jackson UFC

Earlier today, we scratched our heads over Dana White’s strange take on the Quinton Jackson situation, particularly the line:

“Last night when he got out, Rampage is very religious…yeah I’m dealing with it.”

WTF could that possibly mean, right? Well, according to CagePotato’s anonymous insider, it could mean something really freakin’ bad. Our source now tells us the following:

Rampage thinks he’s God…He had a falling out with his trainer a couple of days before the first arrest. Basically he has lost his mind and is talking very religious and is saying that he is God. This is the main thing I wanted to keep hidden, but with the second arrest and Dana talking it will come out regardless. He needs some serious help. I don’t know if you would call it schizophrenia or bipolar disorder or what have you, but whatever it is, basically it’s become impossible to have a conversation with him. He is delusional.

Again, this is second-hand information, and the only way to make a real judgment is to have an actual conversation with Jackson himself. But the chatter is not good.

Sort of related: As of now, Toyo Tires has no official comment on the status of Rampage’s sponsorship with the company, and doesn’t plan to make one any time soon.

….and now, Chuck becoming a party animal looks like the right thing to do!

seriously tho… I really hope that this isn’t true. Rampage is way to good of a fighter to go down like this.

  2. Dave Says:

If this is in fact the situation, it very closely mirrors something that happened to one of my best friends a year ago. Basically, dude went haywire with no warning signs. Destroyed his apartment, took off all his clothes, and ate his neighbor’s flower garden. He also took the diamond ring he had given his fiancee and buried it in the backyard. After the police got done with him, he was checked into a mental health facility, where he was diagnosed as clearly schizophrenic and I believe bipolar. He was prescribed medication but refused to take them. Several months late God spoke to him directly and now my friend, a former athiest, is the most vehement Christian you will ever meet. He hears voices constantly, and legitimately believes he can heal the wounded (ie soldiers with missing limbs) through faith. He has undergone a number of exorcisms and has strongly suggested I do the same to rid my life of the many “witches” who use me as a puppet.

This shit is no joke. While I’m glad that my friend ended up finding something that ultimately kept him alive in a dark time, it’s pretty hard to watch an obviously psychotic person convince themselves that they’re perfectly healthy. That’s a REAL bad sign…

  3. Anonymous Says:

  6. BIG CHRIS Says:

Dave is onto something here with the witch thing, I think maybe right now Forrest is at home laughing Hysterically with a Rampage voodoo doll, and is in complete control of this whole circus!!

  7. norremo Says:

God be wit you rampage but not TOO wit you baby GET WELL SOON

  11. dogsarmy Says:

too much jesus isn’t good for a person. i hope rampage recovers and finds solace in logic, reason and evolutionary theory. anything else is just delusional. he was obviously already at the edge of sanity believing in all those bronze-age mythologies. what a fucktard.

  12. Kalib Starnes Says:

I could of outran the cops. Kalib Starnes don’t play games.

  13. sloth Says:

shit….the interview video the day before where he got all weird blessing his Doctor. Dana’s statement… It all makes a bit more sense now.

  14. aew Says:

All this jesus shit makes people with any type of success complete solipsists. he acted extremely irresponsible and i hope that pregnant woman sues rampage for all his coke money.

  15. george Says:

It seems obvious that rampage has either had a psychotic break or serious bipolar episode.

The religion doesn’t help. Religion is just group psychosis, which in vulnerable individuals like rampage can institigate true psychosis.

  16. jamesshinobi Says:

where is tom cruise when you need him? mr cruise save him with your witch magic!!!!

  17. gracies suck ass Says:

so I was gonna lol and rofl and all that good shit, but ma, that’s actually pretty fucked if true. Rampage is awesome, it’d be a shame to watch him go fucking batman style crazy before Wand gets to actually kill him in the ring. Hope this shit pans out and he just fucked a chick who turned out to be a dude or something.

  18. grant Says:

hey seriously, didnt this same crap happen to kanye?

  19. wrestlerswillownmma Says:

This exact thing happened to George Foreman after he lost to Ron Lyle … It actually started when he lost to Ali, but the loss to Lyle was the clincher.

It took George years and years to move past it too … so, to think that Rampage can just put it all together and be ready to go again in the near future might be asking too much. It’s a shame too, as the fight with Forrest set up a monster of a rematch, with lots of $$ to be made by all involved (Jackson, Griffin, and ZUFFA).

  20. Beqwith Says:

Obviously, who knows what the situation is, but I think (and hope) this is a stunt to help him out with his first arrest. I think (again hope) that this is a ploy to portray a mental imbalance to help in his hit and run trial. Even the report of his second arrest where his friends allegedly flag down a cop because he is out of control, seems too easy. It seems like a stunt. If you have a friend who is losing it, and he has legal trouble looming you wouldn’t “flag” down a cop who happens to be passing by. You most likely take him to the hospital and leave the cops out of it. You might say it would be dangerous to try to take a man with the size and skill of Rampage somewhere he might not want to go, but he apparently went with the cops willfully. Who knows at this point.

  21. ken shamrock Says:

geez. and i thought i was crazy

  22. Matthew Polly Says:

This Stephen Quadros line from a year ago about the Rampage v. Iceman fight comes to mind. I always thought that Quadros was hinting at something he didn’t want to fully explain.

“Quinton needs to fight with emotion, the kind of emotion that he refers to as when he “blacks out”…and the ‘other’ Quinton Jackson flashes into action, the one who has convincingly demolished past opponents (both professionally and in more than a few personal situations).”

    http://www.ifl.tv/News-07May-26-Fight-Professor-Breaks-Down-Liddell-Jackson.html

  23. Jakey Says:

I think his universe has imploded on him and he can’t cope in a reality where he lost to Forrest Griffin…

  24. Brad Says:

I just watched Rampage’s interview with Throwdown again and Rampage did say a few things that make it sound like the source was telling the truth. In the interview he talked a bit about his trainer and said that he didn’t make him hit the pads enough. Also near the end of the interview he said “If you don’t love Rampage than you don’t love God.”

Hopefully it is just a coincidence.

  25. Strangearoundtheears Says:

Get better soon Rampage. Ya just gotta take a vacation and get away from it all for awhile. Stay away from things and people that use you up.

  26. Rickson Says:

I will submit him by armbar.

  27. FatCoward Says:

Didn’t Rampage say in one of his post fight interviews that he did not remember knocking someone out?

  28. DK604 Says:

    Nooooo Rampage.

Rampage is my Hero, and this high stress, public and out of mind reality he’s going through is by far the most diabolical villian he has faced yet.

This is like a bad dream, where the dude your fighting can’t die.

Like Joker to Batman or Sabertooth to Wolverine, I don’t see Rampage killing this foe, without losing what makes him super in the first place.

My only hope is that Rampage learns to overpower this enemy of his and keeps him in constant check for the rest of his life.

Theres nothing I want more than to see Rampage back in the cage, smiling down Wandy while taking bombs to the face, and take back his title.

But, there has clearly been a line of reality that he has crossed that a normal person will find almost impossible to ignore when looking in a mirror. And there is no way the media and fans are gona let him forget this.

Rampage is by far one of the physically strongest fighters out there, lets hope Quinton Jackson has the strength to get through this.

  29. Jakey Says:

Professor X has got rampages back

  30. Mma oz Says:

Im guessing he is bi-polar, a friend of mines bi-polar and every few years he thinks his god, goes completely nutty,

then he goes and gets medical care for a week gets his meds gets depressed and in a couple of months his bak to normal.

  31. UFC Says:

It’s getting more and more obvious with all of these comments… the pieces are falling together to say that Rampage is obviously schizophrenic (the “other” person coming out) and all of the not remember fights thing, along with this whole God episode… schizophrenic people often attribute their “gifts” as closeness with God…

  32. Jorel Says:

    yeah…….. religion makes people crazy

  33. jared Says:

    fuck rampage, and fuck jesus.

    HELLO!

  34. Chris Says:

It breaks my heart to hear all this anti God talk and beating up on Quintin while he’s already down. I’m sure that somebody will respond to this comment with some beligerant comment or attack on Christianity. Yes I am a Christian and thank God for that. I did not leave my brain behind when I accepted Christ in my life but on the contrary. There is more proof in this life of a Creator than you will ever find of evolution. I dear one to argue with evidence. The point is people to often see bad examples of Christians and unfortunately that turns off people. I pray that Quintin heals mentally, emotionally, and spiritually and I pray that we would all turn our hearts and minds to an almighty God that loves us even in spite of ourselves. God bless

  35. lookbehindu Says:

    give him weed!

  36. Warrior Spirit Says:

All you anti Rampage fans, go fuck yourself. Rampage will come back and murder Forrest Gump Griffin

  37. Mandator Says:

all you god freaks out there, make me sick. christianity is GROUP PSYCHOSIS as someone already mention.wake the fuck up. organised religion should be utterly annihilated from the face of this earth. everything evil in this world has been commited in the name of religion. how can you fucktards in this day and age assume that your best friend is jesus and that he speaks to you? how can you love an invisible and totally formless being? if god exists why cant the majority of the people see him? in fact the only people who claim to have seen him were fictionary characters from fairytales of jews. why dont norwegian people think that odin or santa clause is real? is there really a difference between christian mythology and greek mythology? why one is accepted as “faith” the other as myth? its because the christian church killed everyone who said christianity is mythology, they burned everyone at the stake. and right now these fucks still walk around with a stick trying to force people to accept their lies. long live Giordano Bruno. Long live Science. hail to our martyrs. fuck christianity and islam and whatever other bullshit religion.

  38. Mandator Says:

ALSO ID Like to add: Yes we came from monkeys, accept that fact carbon dating is not a lie. the earth is not 10 000 yrs old and its not flat. the earth is 4.5 billion years old, and carbon dating did not determinate that fact but lithographic dating used for thousands of years and proved completely reliable. go cut a rock fucking dumbasses and notice that the olderst layer of the rock is at the bottom. this is hoe SCEINTISTS determine the age of the earth. these scientis are called geologists they use a scientific method to develop their theories and THE BASIS OF THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD IS THAT IT HAS TO BE ABLE TO BE DISPROVEN. WOW that sounds a hell of alot better to me than BELIEVING THAT GOD CREATED THE WORLD 10 000 YEARS AGO JUST BECAUSE MOSES SAYS SO. haha cant you religious people realise youre a joke? the only people that have seen god were either schizophrenics undergoing true psychosis or were under the influence of CHEMICALS FROM PLANTS THAT PRODUCE STATES OF MIMIC PSYCHOSIS. in fact theres alot of evidence that the cxult of christ (very similar to the cult of ancient dionysus) were formulated under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms and in fact the cross represents the symbolic form of the hygrophorus mushroom.

  39. ChrisC Says:

Hey, Mandator. I think you went a bit too far but your argument is well-written and I do agree with you to some extent. Right.. there’s NO actual scientific proof.. you’re asked to (blindly) BELIEVE in God no matter what.

I’m angry at the religion(Chrianity) for contributing to Rampage’s madness. If he’d sought mental-health treatment instead of putting faith in God.. he’d have not gone this crazy..

  40. bolt Says:

i don’t think this has anything to do with god or his beliefs… if it wasn’t his faith it would be the sandwich he gobbled up yesterday - that spoke to him! … or his toothbrush that tells him secrets… or something else “crazy”… i know “stuff” happpens in life but this sounds like bull shit… but i guess anyone can publish bull shit “anonymously”… ya know… i’m a chemist by profession… so even though i;m not a lawyer (so i really do not know)… but i think rampage can take people to court for saying this crap IF he can prove it hurt him financially? …not sure… like i said i’m not a snake lawyer… i have a real degree… but if this IS bull shit… and you… cage potato… are spreading this crap…and if it harms him financially… i think he may have a case… i can only hope so:)

    ps…mandator…take a pill… You sound like a preacher…

  41. Iagreewithmandator Says:

Preach it man! I went to a call last night (I’m a police officer) during which the wife told me her husband was possessed by demons. While she and her daughter were praying over him in an attempt to exorcise his demons he started spitting in their faces and then locked himself in his room. AFter speaking with the husband, it was pretty obvious that he was loco en la cabeza. They refused to let me Baker Act him but insisted on getting a pastor from church to help with the exorcism.

First thing she asked me when I showed up is if I believed that Jesus was my savior.

I’m not really sure who the crazier person was that night.

  42. justanopinion Says:

chris… being a christian has nothing to do with it him being ill. anyone can get sick, atheist/agnostic/jew/christian. sheesh

  43. wiseone Says:

    Mandator,

Your writing is all over the place…just a rant. Did someone hurt you that is a beleiver? BTW you cannot prove anything..you can only acccept or reject the null hypothesis…yes statistics, I know a lot about that and about Jesus, Lord and Savior. I pray Rampage gets help and gets to a better place mentally. Great fighter…the bigger the setback, the bigger the comeback!

Funny how so many people criticize the bible, but have never read it. Try reading it. What is the worst thing that can happen?

  44. Wanderlei Says:

yeah that was me who fucked him up, twice!!! fujimata FUJIMATA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  45. J-nutz Says:

why does it seem like every time you see a mental reject, they’re a religious fanatic?

religion is a bunch of f–king bullshit

  46. Peter North Says:

I think he freaked out because he lost to a white boy.

  47. Jeff Says:

Actually, this is America just so everyone knows. So if people want to practice Christianity or any other religion they have that right. Also, you have the right to voice how much you think its total garbage, but it just makes you seem a little ignorant when you persecute someone for their beliefs.

I would hope you dont persecute based on sex, or ethnicity or skin color, but if you do it for beliefs, you probably do it for all those reasons as well

  48. Eric Wilbanks Says:

Come on, be serious. This is “second-hand” information from an “anonymous” source. Let’s not send out the hoards to deliver the death penalty just yet. Why not wait for the facts to come out? If Rampage has gone nuts and thinks he’s God, you can be sure that it wasn’t “religion” that did that to him anymore than the kick to the legs by Griffin. Besides, religion is nothing more than an identifiable set of beliefs…no different in substance than everyone posting on this forum. We all believe in something, whether it’s God, evolution, aliens or the Easter Bunny. The only folks who DON’T have a belief system are the dead ones. And for those who say they only believe in themselves…well, then that puts you in the same boat as Rampage, doesn’t it: thinking you’re God.

Here’s hoping that Rampage gets through this and comes out on the other side a better man and a better warrior because of it. I, for one, am anxious to see that rematch with Griffin.

  49. Craig2o Says:

Unfortunately, this could possibly be the signs of brain damage. Rampage has had a long career with a lot of brutal fights, my guess is they are are trying to keep this quiet to not tarnish MMA’s image. I think when I re-watch Vand Silva beat him in the old Pride days it just won’t be as good now.
