In light of the recent DREAM and EliteXC shows, we tidied up the middleweight, welterweight, lightweight, and pound-for-pound lists on our Power Rankings page. Some things to keep in mind...
— Partly because we don't have a bantamweight rankings page (yet?), I'd simply forgotten to include Miguel Torres on the pound-for-pound list. That insult stops today.
— Deep down, I believe that Fedor Emelianenko is the best fighter on Earth. But based on recent activity, I have to keep Anderson Silva as the pound-for-pound #1. If Fedor can smash another top-ten heavyweight this year, he'll move into the top spot. Then again, if Silva can smash a top-ten light-heavyweight by the end of the year, he'll comfortably stay where he is.
— Matt Lindland becomes the first fighter to leave the rankings after winning a fight. In my opinion, anybody who still thinks he's a top-ten middleweight is living in the past. It's been about six years since he's beaten anybody even close to the top ten, and his less-than-thrilling decision win against the under-experienced Fabio Negao at Affliction: Banned suggests that he'd get smoked against anyone in the top 15. Just my $0.02.
Anyway, head on over and leave some comments on the individual weight class pages to let us know how you feel. And make sure to re-check 'em in about ten days, as UFC 87 may have some serious impact on the 155- and 170-pound lists. Good day to you.

How is Forrest Griffin ranked 1 in Light heavy over Lyoto Machida and 10th overall under Machida….that is a huge contradiction??!! He should be higher in the overall rankings…

BC: Maybe they are approaching it that PFP, Lyoto would be able to run his way to more victories than Forrest would standing and banging.

@Blackleg-I am sorry but I have to disagree....Forrest Griffin's last 2 fights were against what some beleived to be the top 2 LHW's in the world....He choked out Shogun, and dominted "The Lord himself" for 5 rounds to win the belt...I say he is better PFP...IMO.

Penn should be about 7th or 8th. Has he really dominated the 155? No! There are several top 155ers that he has not even fought, but the list was not too bad. I have my favorites and would like to see others in certain spots, but that would not make the list very accurate.

Yeah I agree with mostly all of you. For some reason they think us as reall MMA fans know nothing but whats on the ufc. We all do research on our favorite fighters and the top ones in the game today. some fighters were the shit a few years ago like CRO COP I love him but people get old and sick of the game. Like FEDOR and Randy couture they wont stay the best forever. thats just like having Ken Shamrock and Tank Abbot on the top ten.

the whole mma community should get behind WAMMA's rankings, they seem the most legit to me, and life would be easier if everyone was getting the same rankings.

Nice job on the rankings. Sure I take exception with a few of them, but it's clear that you've spent some time thinking about the rankings, and that's appreciated.

Somebody explain BJ's continued appearance on these pfp lists for me. He hasn't even beaten the top guys in his class. When he has stepped it up against the best, he's lost. Riding his rep much? Let's see him clear out his division first.
