Must-See: Kimbo Trains Tomlinson; Franklin Talks Hamill

In part one of Nike’s new commercial series “Train Like LT,” San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson goes to what’s supposed to be Kimbo Slice’s broke-ass backyard and does some training “the old-school way,” which involves bench-pressing air conditioners and leg-pressing a compact car. If part two doesn’t begin with him running the gauntlet that’s at end of this clip, we’re going to be very disappointed. Speaking of Kimbo, he also makes a split-second appearance in this new commercial for Madden NFL ‘09.

Also, Rich “Ace” Franklin talks us through his UFC 88 matchup with Matt Hamill in the above clip, acknowledging that he’ll probably be on his back a couple times during the fight. Regarding his permanently blackened eye, Franklin said “Jorge Gurgel only hits me when I deserve it.” That poor, poor man…

I laugh so much when i see the hate come flowing out of all the crevices.
ive been watching kimbo slice fight since 2006, literally weeks after his first vid was released. i Love watching his career blossom from a junkyard dog, fresh out on Bail, turn to an nationally recognized entertainer/fighter.
You may hate him because hes not as talented as Bj Penn, or a hero like randy, or maybe you just dont like BLACK people… BUT… at the end of the day.
He’s gone from rags to riches by putting his black ass on the line, and working hard to get into the game.
Stop being a hater, and ask yourself, what has he done to DESERVE your hatred? he lives the american dream, and you hate him for being black and more popular than you.

I guess the mainstream viewing audience isn’t as aware of MMA as we’d like to think. For the money they paid Kimbo, they could have gotten a fighter with legitimate ring credentials, but they aren’t selling MMA in the ad they are selling Kimbo’s reputation as a ghetto thug. LT is just keeping it real… and Kimbo is laughing all the way to the bank. I swear, Kimbo will have a career as a character actor after he bores of MMA.
That being said, what a terrible piece of advertising, but I can at least take heart in knowing that I am not part of the demographic it is intended for.

Mark’s Right is pretty much he next best thing to being Kimbo’s best friend, I mean hes like one of the first 5,000 people to watch him fight on youtube, so he’s gotta be the most knowledgeable on Kimbo’s career. I don’t know anything about Kimbo compared to him, not because I watch every MMA fight I can or even because I’ve seen all of the same Kimbo fights, but because I wasn’t one of those first few thousand people to see him on youtube.
