WEC Completes September Fight Card
(Urijah Faber talks upcoming title defense with ESPN)
The WEC has announced the full fight card for their September 10 event in Florida, and once again it's a fairly stacked show from Zuffa's minor leagues. Most notable is the official announcement that former UFC lightweight champ Jens Pulver will be taking on Leonard "Just Try and Make Those Charges Stick" Garcia. It also includes Urijah Faber defending his title against Mike Brown, and Paulo Filho making his return to action in a rematch against Chael Sonnen.
Making their WEC debuts are two Team Takedown members -- Jake Rosholt and Johny Hendricks -- who are definitely worth keeping an eye on in the future.
Here's the full lineup:
Urijah Faber vs. Mike Brown
Paulo Filho vs. Chael Sonnen
Jens Pulver vs. Leonard Garcia
Danillo Villefort vs. Jake Rosholt
Rob McCullough vs. Donald Cerrone
Rani Yahya vs. Yoshihiro Maeda
David Avellan vs. Tim McKenzie
Johny Hendricks vs. Alex Serdyukov
Ed Ratcliff vs. Danny Castillo

I don't think that I will watch this next Faber fight. Not because I don't like Faber, I just don't see him having any real challenge to his belt. Jens Pulver was the best challenger and Faber beat him. Now they are just going to keep throwing nobody's at him until somebody gets lucky and knocks him out or catches him with an armbar or something.
Faber needs to go up to 155 and join the UFC. Maybe then we will see some good fights. Until then I feel bad for any sorry SOB that is stupid enough to get in the ring with him.

I think Faber will win, too, but that's no reason not watch what are typically some of the best all around MMA cards available for viewing anywhere. Not sure where the televised portion starts, but I'm assuming it'll be Razor Rob vs Cowboy. Though I'm hoping they start one sooner, cause I'd really like to see Maeda again.

This should be awesome, actually. Pulver-Garcia and Sonnen-Filho 2 should be nice.

Another awesome card put on by the WEC. As of late, WEC has been putting on the best, most entertaining cards around...and this one is no exception. Pulver/Garcia and Sonnen/Filho 2 will be great.

Is anyone on this card over 120pds?
Its hard to get into an MMA fight when the fighters are lighter and shorter than most strippers.
I like my MMA men beefy, dreamy and sweaty.
If I want to look at petite little guys prancing around in nothing but tights, there are plenty of them in my aerobics tight buns class.

Jens Pulver vs. Leonard Garcia
whoah-ho-ho!!!
that looks like an exciting one
Plain old Kevin Says:
Give credit to Tapout again. The show is cool and they have both fighters from the most recent episode on this card; Jake Rosholt and Johny Hendricks. Those two are exciting to watch and the show gives me more MMA fights to watch so I don't go through withdrawal. This card is awesome and I would watch this over the next UFC if they were on the same day and time.
Billy Bad Ass Says:
I'm not giving credit to dudes who wear make-up, afrowigs, and have braces... or sponsor that Kevin "Turd" Ferguson character over in EXC.

Urijah Faber was on the Big O and Dukes show that broadcast on WJFK in the Washinton, DC area. It was a really good interview. Faber talked about the upcoming fight with brown and going to see the troops in Afghanistan. The link to the podcast is below. If you like this, and you like MMA, you should podcast this show on iTunes or check them out on www.WJFK.com They talk to other fighters and people in the industry.
