The Cops Just Had to Mess with Rampage Jackson
In this video interview with CBS, Rampage Jackson discusses some of the wacky goings-on in his mind around the time of his arrest, and does his best to explain it. You see, he didn’t think he was God. He thought he was a God. That is, until the police took the opportunity to be total jerks to him, thus reminding him that he was indeed mortal. Because a God wouldn’t have taken no lip off no cops.
It’s somewhat reassuring to see that there was a type of logical process at work in Rampage’s mind — God is his father, he is God’s son, so he must also, through hereditary processes, be a God himself. That actually makes some degree of sense in a Grecian myth kind of way. Think Zeus and Hercules and all that. And if Hercules were alive today, wouldn’t he be an MMA fighter? I’d like to think so.
The fact that it took the cops being assholes to him for Rampage to realize how crazy this all was is probably the strangest aspect of the story. He seems to have been genuinely affected by that. It’s got to be the first time in history that the cops did something good by mocking people in a vulnerable state who were in their custody. Also probably the last time.
Here’s the rambling, bizarre CBS interview, where Rampage details more potential mistreatment at the hands of the police and talks about what led to his eventual breakdown. He claims the police were calling their friends on their cell phones to brag that they had him in the car, while also “chastising” him for trying to preach to them. He also admits that he doesn’t completely remember what he was saying, and sounds at times like he might not be all the way back from his bout with delirium.

I was at a club in irvine last night and I saw rampage there. I think going to England will be the best thing for him. he looked like he didn’t want to be there but he stayed there while his entourage partied all night.

I agree with him… I think he is ‘innocent’ because he truly didn’t know what was going on. He should make restitution though to those he hurt

It’s seeming more and more possible, to me, that he may not make it back from this “break”. Shame really, I didn’t much care for him before TUF. Really grew to like him after that. Then all this happens. Stop talking to the media. Go away, get right. Come back strong. Who can tell?

while i wouldn’t neccessarily agree with the cops calling their friends to tell them they have Jackson in custody…if you’re going to ride around in a humongus truck (by street standards) with YOU painted all over the exterior…them ya might expect some mockery.

he doesnt have a “victim mindset,” he admitted he was both wrong, delusional, and acting crazy. what do you want? he was betrayed, he starts reading the bible to find some solice, but coupled with the lack of food, sleep, energy drinks, he takes everything out of context and does a bunch of crazy stuff. yea its not good, but shoot he admitted everything he did was wrong. give the guy a break!! he’ll come around alright.
thing that gets me, if he wasnt a christian, half of these people on here wouldnt be so mean about it. hes no mother theresa, but at least hes trying.

He was simply telling the story. In no way did he still think that he was a god. My family has many police officers in it and I still think that the majority are douchebags. The power gets to their head and I definitely get an odoriforous emanation of pork when any are around. My recent experience in the military showed me how easy it is to allow power to go to your head. Cops are always full of it and I certainly hope the negativity returns to them 100 fold. I hope Rampage gets no time and comes back to prove that Forrest has the power of my 4 year old daughter. It’s just too bad that Forrest will not hold the belt long enough for it to be another title match.
