Karo Parisyan Out of UFC 88 With Back Injury; Thiago Silva Also Injured

Well, this blows:
A last-minute back injury has forced welterweight contender Karo Parisyan to withdraw from his UFC 88 bout with Yoshiyuki Yoshida. Saturday’s UFC 88 card will continue with nine bouts.
Who knows what Karo was doing last night or this morning to screw up his back, but he showed no sign of injury at yesterday’s press conference. We certainly hope it wasn’t panic attack-related. More info as we get it…
And the hits keep coming: It seems the back injury fairy has also visited light-heavyweight contender Thiago Silva, who will no longer be facing fellow undefeated Brazilian Lyoto Machida at UFC 89 (October 18th; Birmingham, England). Silva is expected to be able to compete again in December. No replacement opponent for Machida has been announced at this time; hopefully the UFC will just postpone the match until Silva is fully recovered.

i hear Karo saw his shadow and needs six more weeks of training.
pd Says:
that's too bad. i was looking forward to seeing how machida and silva would do against each other since their styles are so different.
it would have been an offense vs defense bout.
if yoshida still competes, it'll be an extremely late notice for whoever his opponent will be.
KneeToTheFace Says:
Machida vs Thiago Silva is a hot match-up and I'm sure the bout will still happen. They should let Machida fight one of the other contenders, and then still have him fight Silva in December.
Is anybody available to fight at UFC89? Maybe Brandon Vera (lol).

Rampage would be ideal to fill in for Thiago. He's the only major LHW free and willing to fight anytime soon.
Another good choice would be Ricardo Arona - he's willing to fight, and willing to come to the UFC.

Well, that about sucks??!??? The Machido/Silva fight just made the FREE SPIKE card a little better than shitty. I was most looking forward to this fight!!! :(

The O'le back injury eh? doubtful! Karo looks like Dana just chopped off his nuts, too bad! Karo usually puts on a decent fight, stay tuned theres more to this than that sad sack face is willing to tell us.

Sorry CT, Karo usually puts on horrible fights. I can't stand the guy sorry. Back injury my ass! I feel really bad for Zenko, having to train his ass off then the day before the fight 'Sorry'. I was looking forward for him to talk Joe Rogan about the recap of the fight again, or not.
And I agree with everyone else that Ricardo Arona should come to the UFC, the guy is a freaking bad ass! Give him a couple of cans to handle, so he can get his bearings then send him up against some top teir competition.
