Videos: Elite XC 'Heat'

Kimbo Slice faces light heavyweight Seth Petruzelli, the man with the devastating front kick/jab combo. Relive the magic again and again. Things to take note of:

1) Kimbo's tough guy act when he refuses to touch gloves.

2) Kimbo going face first onto the canvas a few seconds later.

3) At about the 0:57 mark, if you're quick you can see Elite XC VP Jared Shaw at cageside screaming his head off at the referee, like any impartial promoter would surely do in that situation.

What a night. After the event Shaw spoke about that moment with MMA Rated, and even mentioned the possibility of a protest stemming from blows to the back of the head. That sounds fun. Videos of the evening's other bouts are after the jump, courtesy of MMA-Core.

Jake Shields vs. Paul Daley

Andrei Arlovski vs. Roy Nelson

Gina Carano vs. Kelly Kobald

Benji Radach vs. "Ninja" Rua

protest, really? what could they protest? that kimbo HAS NO CHIN!!??? That he's more hype than anything??? maybe instead of shaving half his chest he should shave half his sack, cuz it seems like they might need to look bigger.

So THAT was Jared Shaw's "damn, he just blew up my party" face.

Protest what? this is a joke kimbos management is totally fucked and so is eliete xc seth tko him in 14 seconds flat wow kimbo the hype really worked out

I missed Jared Shaw forcing his way in to scream at the cage last night. What tool.

EXC is a joke. First the Gina fake make weight scenario. Now their #1 draw gets TKO'd by someone a whole weight class below him who couldn't get resigned in the UFC.

EXC does everything by a gimmic. Ninja vs Radach and Jake Shields defending his title should have been the co-main event. I don't see EXC surviving the year. I wonder who will buy up their assets?

Gotta say I came out of my chair when Kimbo hit the mat. Loved how the nerd announcer was trying to justify the loss by saying Kimbo had no time to prepare for Petruzelli. Protest...what a joke. That's just gonna make 'em look worse.

its good for kimbo to lose tho so now they can stop hyping him and feeding him lame fighters, and really have him work his way up. lesnar should be next to lose and stop getting this push to stardom. kimbo will not be badly hurt by this if they just say hes new to the sport and begins to get more serious. sure, hell get fed shamrock next most likely, but now kimbo can get built up and work on his skills to keep it real in the cage, dawg.

I know the short right stunned him for a sec, but was the KO from that or the forearm to the back of the neck/head right after?

It was bound to happen, Kimbo isn't fighting street punks anymore. These are guys trained to take punishment and are skilled at giving it back. And by the way whats with the heavy beard, in most instances the boxing commission won't allow it because it offers coushioning against blows. And from the looks of that *devastating* right hand, lol he needs it! Wander what a washed up Ken Shamrock would have done to him? No after party for sure.

I don't see how they can protest this stoppage after not having protested the James Thompson stoppage. It's the same damn argument. This isn't 80's movie style fighting where you attend the Rocky Balboa school of boxing to take a beat down for 2 rounds, then rally to finish in the final seconds of the third. If you're not defending yourself, you become a liability to both your sport and yourself, just ask Ali.

I'd lose a lot of respect for Bas Rutten if he gets behind a protest after saying the Thompson fight should have been stopped in the second because Kimbo was no longer intelligently defending himself. Dude, if you're reciting Shakespeare while taking a beat down while your hands aren't up, the fight gets stopped because you're not defending yourself.

Anyone feel bad for Kimbo? Regardless of his illegitimate rise to the 'top' of the MMA scene, he was still man enough to take the fight and was humble in defeat. For that he deserves much respect. GSP said his loss to Serra was the best thing that happened in his career (not comparing Kimbo to GSP talent-wise). It could end up being the same learning experience for Kimbo if he wants to get serious about being a champ.

I just watched the post-fighter MMARated interview with Seth. He seems like a good guy.

I also like Jared Shaw trying to cover his ass when Ariel interviewed him. That made my morning.

I must agree with Renn though, the fights he mentioned were actually good (not that seeing Kimbo get TKO'ed wasn't awesome, but still).

Additionally, if you watch the video closely, look at what Kimbo is doing when Seth starts doing laps to celebrate. You can clearly see Kimbo attempting a takedown on the ref. Not an angry violent "i hate you for stopping my fight" takedown, a "oh shit i'm knocked out" take down.

this card was just boring as hell!!! i love the fact that exc and affliction are tring to go against ufc,but exc is more like the freaking wwe!

That little kick/jab combo does wonders in a street fight, also, kids. Take note. You can even charge someone with a kick to the midsection and when they leave the chin open use the kick as a way to put more weight into your punch.

Seth > Norris

RGD, Lesnar lost his first UFC fight to Frank Mir, a legit opponent. Kimbo has been spoon fed nobodies, seriously.

Film Drunk, that was a clearly unintentional, hammerfist strike. Kimbo lost because he faught someone with some talent. Whats next for Kimbo?? My guess, would be, he starts fighting over the hill guys again.

ROCKY!!! ROCKY IS HERE!!!

I dont think Kimbo would throw a fight either, EliteXC wont let him lose. They were banking on him demolishing the smaller guy, not the smaller guy knocking kimbo out with a seemingly brain rattling short right hand. Theres a photo of the stoppage and you can clearly see Jared Shaw screaming "NOOOOOOOO"

until some asshole like me slips your sissy kick and tears your jaw loose with my right cross....orrrrrrrrr some asshole like me gets under your sissy kick and drives the back of your skull into the nearest immovable object...orrrrr some asshole like me crushes the knee of your planted leg and knocks our eyeballs loose with my left hook on your way down.

nice try though.

RGB, thats the difference between ufc and elite xc. Ufc isnt spoon feeding lesnar fights. He is getting thrown to the wolves and if not for a bullshit stand up in the mir fight would probably be undefeated right now. Lesnar is a legit athlete and a ncaa wrestling champion. He is not some hood rat street fighter. Kimbo is a joke and Elite XC will be as well if they dont start focusing on actual fighters that deserve the spotlight.

Oh yeah one more thing. After watching that fedor silva commercial I am fully convinced that tim took a dive. Not saying fedor wouldnt have beaten him anyway but that choke had barely been applied when he tapped.

Just a general gripe about EXC, but there announcers are horrible. Why don't they get someone in there who can give the commentary some color. Shamrock sounds like he's got brain damage and the braces don't help. Every move, no matter how sloppy, is "textbook." And I'm sure they're reading a cheat sheet provided by EXC, but all they do is hype rumors of who's fighting who down the road before they've even won their match. The whole program is one great big advertisement and distracts from the fighters. I guess they have to sell every pixel they can in order to keep their heads above water. I'm not gonna be sad when they fold.....

Kimbo + EXC = Epic Fail...

As Seth runs around the octagon and Kimbo tries to shoot on the ref, the announcer says "...the greatest victory in MMA history." Please, stfu. What a joke. Just like Seth, I ran laps around my living room when Kimbo's face slammed the canvas from a short jab. What a f-ing joke.

Thank you Seth I just made $400 bucks.

When is this experiment going to be over? Kimbo just wanted to get on mic after to hype some after party. Not to say, wow I though this was a fill in to keep the hype going.

@silverback08

Have you ever been choked? You should know that people can sleep with only few seconds beeing choked... even professional fighters.

"Power punches...every single one of them! Kimbo has no slice, no answer."

HAHAHA! Where was Bill Goldberg? Did he get the boot?

I got a little up in arms when the announcer called it(the Kimbo KO) the greatest event in MMA history, give it up douchebag.

Yesterday was a white man dream day. Y'all got O.J. and Kimbo went down. It feels like a white Christmas

@Silverback08: It was a choke right across the trachea, fully sunk. Not only does it cut off your air, it also hurts like hell. There was nothing unusual about the speed of the tap.

maybe its just me, but i have no fucking idea what knocked kimbo down.. all i saw was a halfass shin-raise.. and a 10 cm movement of his left and right glove in the general direction of kimbo's head.. it was a weird fucking combo

that back of the head strikes argument is b.s. when kimbo dropped face first to the mat and started to scramble, a blow to the side of the head can turn in to the back of the head unintentionally when the opponent is scrambling around, in no way was it on purpose. the shots that did the damage anyway were the first on to the chin, and one to his eye, his eye was cut, swollen, and closed after 14 seconds. kimbo got exposed/ dismantled, just like i always said he would when he faces legitimate compitition, just accept this.

"The most INCREDIBLE victory in Mixed Martial Arts HISTORY!"

Silverback08
You are a complete fucking idiot. That is all.

Last night was one of the happiest nights of my life...Kimbo getting knocked out is the best thing that could've happened now all those half assed fans can stfu about how good Kimbo is and Elite XC can go bankrupt and quit dragging this sport through the mud.

ROCKYS HERE!!!! lol screaming their heads off

I'm a fucking idiot? Anyone that saw that and didnt think it was a little strange that tim silvia, the same guy that let mir break his arm without tapping, tapped like a bitch as soon as fedors arm got under his chin is a fucking idiot. Silivia sucks and I will be the first to admit it but he is tough and he got fucking paid to lay down quick for fedor.

I'm thinking the Kimbo hype will continue, even after that embarrassment.

@punchdrunkshamrock- "quit dragging this sport through the mud." How? I don't think Kimbo should be headlining fights, but dragging thought the mud is a bit much, but then again you probably can't name a fighter out side of the UFC. The UFC is doing more dragging through the mud than any other Corp. There should be no monopoly on this sport.

The UFC/EliteXC/Strikeforce/Affliction and American crowds in general should learn from DREAM and Japan. 12 very good fights, Tournaments, no 10 point must system, NO elbows to ground opponents (just to accommodate U.S. born wrestlers) ETC

No the choke doesn't take place on the trachea.

The choke is from squeezing off both jugular veins. If I cut off your wind you can last for about 1 minute. Don't believe me? Hold your breath and see how long it takes you to pass out.

then go to the local Judo club and ask a black belt to put you in Hakda Jime (rear naked choke) and see how long you last.

It will be about 3-5 seconds.

The thing about the sissy kick/punch combo is that he was clearly afraid of Kimbo. He took this fight thinking he was gonna get beat bad, but get some spotlight. Even his punches afterwards were out of fear, which is why he hit the back of his head then his shoulder alot. Only got a few face punches when Sliced rolled over but was stopped quickly, and appropriately.

Only question I got is, how the hell does a knuckle slap to the eyebrow knock youout? TUF Guy, you have ::punches self in kidney:: many times before. Can you explain this one to me? I got to call this one a fluke and does nothing really to hype Seth or defeat Kimbo. I hope it does well for both in the end, I would rather they both succeed than disappear.

IMO any fight that ends within the first 20 seconds or so is usually a fluke and does nothing to show either fighters ability, or lack thereof. Sometimes things just happen.

So, does Affliction run like hell from EXC after seeing firsthand the fiasco they make regularly? Anyone notice the continually poor production on behalf of CBS? Lots of sound issues, wrong camera angles, camera men getting in the way. Just pay for a decent director already.

Oh, one other comment.

Elite XC had a top-notch big name fighter on that same card in Arlovsky. I don't know what you guys think but I would have gained respect for Kimbo even if he lost to AA as long as it was a competative fight. And If Kimbo is against someone he respects maybe he doesn't run in and get caught for the 14 second KO.

Anyhow enough about Kimbo he's totally yesterday's news.

Maybe they can put Petruzelli in that MMA Video game Kimbo keeps pimping. He can be the last boss with an unblockable push kick face slap combo.

Did everyone forget that Kimbo had 30 lbs on Seth....... and you're still going to use the, "well he took the fight at the last minute" defense... so did Seth. I think Mr. back-street brawler who will fight anyone at anytime, got exactly what he deserved... a big reality check. I doubt The Silverback is going to be the next big star.... but at least he's getting his 15 minutes of fame for knocking out Kimbo's over-rated ass...... "THAT'S HOW A NIGGA EAT!" (or drink ........ smoothies that is...... Go Seth!)

@ LawlTheSport- there are many ways to perform a choke from behind, but if you look at the one that Fedor had on Sylvia, it was clearly on his trachea. He had already been rocked hard and was probably afraid of any more damage, coupled with the fact that once it's locked in tight there is no point in waiting around to pass out.

While rolling with one of my buddies I attempted to wait out a choke he landed on me and see if I could wiggle free or sink my chin down a bit to his elbow. He cranked harder and my neck was tweaked for about 3 weeks. It sucked. Then again, so does my jits. :)

You're dumb.

Hey "Chess", I bet the rest of the white people are real proud of you for being the only cock sucker for bringing race into this. You must of had your ass kicked by several black people growing up, and still have hard feelings toward the race as a whole. "ME" hit the nail on the head, sometimes shit happens. Remember Matt Serra and GSP. It ain't about black or white. This is the most unpredictable sport in the world because, of the nature of it. I'd like a shot at knocking your dumb ass out Chess!!!

@shutupandfight, -all the things you said you would be doing in your coma induced dreams.

@ME - the area around the temple, the jaw and the back of the head don't require much power to disorient someone or put someone to sleep. I think Kimbo must have gotten disoriented quickly then the canvas took care of the biggest shot he took that night.

But serriously I am such a fucking bad ass, I laughed at all the fights. It was like watching middle schoolers scratch it out

I think my favorite moment in these videos is after Roy Nelson gets up after being knocked out trying to act upset that the fight was stopped too early. It took him 5 seconds to roll over onto his back, that shit was funny as hell. Just like I said, how is a fat man going to beat Arlovski, dude was gassed after their first stint on the mat.

I seriously thought I was the only one that caught Jared Shaw yelling at the ref outside the cage. I pointed it out to all my friends and we shared a laugh. It was a shitty situation. Ken probably slammed his own head against the kitchen counter to get out of this one. I really can't blame Kimbo for being frustrated before the fight, but he took it like a man afterwards. I don't care what anybody has to say, he's a humble man. Congrats to Petruzelli. Who would ever guess that the adrenaline filled-front kick-jab combo would be Kimbo's weakness. Bravo...

@ Jay Smith. you wouldn't bust a grape.
And you know it better than I do that white people like to see black fighters lose to white fighters. White supremacy and privilege is ingrained in this culture and if you think it's not going to be carried over to this sport you're a fool. I don't have to bring up race because it's already there.
When white people look at Kimbo, they see fear, no matter how professional Kimbo tries to be he is perceived as a threat. Just like when Rampage beat Forrest. I was around white people who doesn't even watch MMA and they were going for Forrest, just because he white.
