58 to 41 is not a blow out.
O&A interviewed an old white lady who said that we elected another white president because Obama doesn't talk, act, or dance like a "street person".
This election brought us back 50 years the moment race was brought into it, but I am glad that Obama got in. If McCain passed then I would be terrified to have Palin in office.
Oh and McCain would throw a flying armbar and sub Obama.
mccainiac Says:
Obama is bad news! i cant believe how ignorant people are we know nothing of our president excpet for that he is inexpeiernced and a socialist yet we still elect him? o well four years and we'll be back with a conservative in office
shitwhistle Says:
Where is your god now......?
I'm not a McCain supporter, nor do I particularly like Obama. I just hope all these young, hipster douchebags see that life isn't going to be all peaches n' cream now. God, those fuckers are annoying.
I just wish they'd let twelve year olds vote.
the glza Says:
four years and we'll have another surplus, a strong economy, and maybe be done occupying iraq. if another conservative gets into the oval office, they'll have some work to do to get this country on the wrong track again...
C-Bus Allstar Says:
I hate all these uninformed idiots throwing the words Socialist and Socialism around.. The bottom line is, Socialism only hurts you if you make wayyyyy too much money.. And even then it only hurts you a little bit.. But look at all the good that extra money can do for families who can't pay rent, who can't pay their mortgages, who can't hardly afford groceries for their families.. This is a great day in American History, we should all be so thankful for this opportunity that lies ahead of us. For the first time in a long time, I am hopeful about our future.. I can actually see things getting better. Obama has a chance (albeit a slim one) to become not only the first black president, but also one of the greatest presidents in US history. God Bless the United States of America!!
LukeTheDuke Says:
I'm with Eddie Bravo on this one - I'm out on voting too, voting renders you powerless/and promotes a damn minority rule therefore is unconstitutional. and my vote is less likely to make a difference than me getting hit by a car walking to the polls.
b Says:
Obama is not a socialist. Do people even read his actual policies or does everyone just watch ad campaigns? socialism is government cotrolling everything including goods being produced. His idea to raise taxes on the more wealthy individuals and companies is just a progressive tax. Nothing new that this country has never had. 3 percent raise is far from socialism. Aside from that, theres a lot more to life then how much or how little you might get taxed. People are narrow minded. Obama ftw
razzle465 Says:
Obama 08
:)))))
the glza Says:
maybe inexperienced, but a strong enough leader to surround himself with conscientious and experienced people to help him. also, socialism is good. socialists have the greater good in mind.
Earl Says:
We had a small riot in my town w/in 2 to 3 hrs. of the announced winner. Of course, it was the fault of the police. Not those who were causing the disturbance/arrested.
Before the flame war begins...I am being facetious.
I don't personally care for the socialist "leanings" of the democrats or liberals, in general. And yes they do have socialist agendas. I figure you earn it, it's yours to keep. I thought his speech was very good, however.
God's Outlaw Says:
I have to say I didn't like either candidate completely. There were probably better candidates out there but the media machine didn't pick them up. One thing on my mind as a military veteran is the current war on terrorism. You're not going to sit down and talk with a terrorist. They'll say whatever you want to get exactly what they want. You can not negotiate with them. We'll find out what Obama is made of real quick.
He's my president now, and I wish him luck. No bitterness here just cautious.
Canadian Says:
LOL, "socialist", "inexperience", you Americans crack me up. Would you consider Canada and the UK socialist countries for offering their citizens health care and a stable financial system? These are just basic things that all wealthy western nations should have, and do. As for inexperience, didn't you vote Bush in twice? The mas is practically a retard and you gave him 8 years. LOL!
Aptninja Says:
Yeah, dude, I would consider the UK a socialist country -- not so much for the health care and stable financial system, but for its nationalized or partially nationalized utilities, banking, rail and auto industries. That's what socialism is.
It is not, for the record, having a progressive income tax. And seriously, how many of you railing against Obama's socialism make more than $250,000 a year? You know what will eff up democracy? When huge segments of the population are persuaded to vote against their own interests by identity politics. I don't care what Obama is. If he makes my country and my life in it better over the next four years, he's the man for the job.
obama Says:
like god's outlaw says - Barack Obama is the president (elect) now, will be the president on 1/20/09.
Are you haters gonna sit there and talk shit for 8 years? You think anyone outside of your crazy little circles actually listen to the whole "socialism" argument? You can let that go now. That was a campaign mudslinging tool. I feel like McCain's negative ads and campaign turned all his supporters into rabid, flesh-eating zombies with the taste for democrat blood, but the reality is that McCain lost, you still live in the US, and you need to stop being a bitch and help out. This is your country too. It isnt divided up into two nations; but one, and in a time of crisis, being stubborn and talking shit about Obama won't do anything. The election is over. You dont have to be hateful anymore. I was looking forward to less retarded people. Is that too much to ask?
TUF Guy Says:
I was walking around Grant Park with a McCain / Palin shirt and nobody said anything. That should pretty much sum up the size of my neck.
mike Says:
What is the story behind the pic?
Jugger Says:
I don't think this was a win for Obama as much as it was a total revolt against Republican leadership. The Dems could've nominated Alfred E. Newman and he would've won simply because the American populace is fed up with Republicans.
Will Obama and the Democrats do any better? No, they are bumbling idiot politicians too. I imagine that in 4 or 8 years we'll be sick and tired of them too.
On the bright side I'm glad we finally have a black president. We're definitely ready for this. Maybe now we can stop with all this "white people hate the black man" stuff. Look, Obama is proof that America is the land of opportunity, no matter what your skin color is.
Anonymous Says:
It's good that Obama won. He's better than McCain, and the Dems are better than the Reps. But don't expect too much to change. Obama isn't the Second Coming.
CWR Says:
@ Earl
Do you even know the definition of socialism? How do liberal politicians (95% of whom are undeniably moderate) have socialist leaning policies? North Korea is a socialist nation. Socialism is radical.
Wake up man... Universal health care should be a basic human right within all developed nations.
Anonymous Says:
I like how race was magically "brought into it" to some people, instead of being intrinsic to Obama's selection as a hand picked candidate, and the fact that 96% of black people nationwide voted for him. A lot of white people felt vindicated by voting for him, too, race was a key issue from the start.
Panic, then realization, then panic again Says:
Reading what most of you are saying caused me to panic for a moment... Then I realized that most of you fit one or more of the following criteria:
You are under 25 years old
You live with your parents or 3 other room mates
You make less than $40,000 a year
You pay little or no taxes
Two years ago, and possibly today, you could not name the current Secretary of State
You own a Mac because... well, you don't really know, but you hear all of the cool people own them.
That made me feel a little better until I realized, holy shit, you guys are the ones who showed up to vote yesterday!
It's way to early to say that we are heading towards socialism, but I CAN tell you this. I have my own business, I make over $250,000 a year, and due to the policies of the democratic party, at least one of my employees will probably lose their job in 2009. I'll be sure to tell them to thank you.
Having said all of that, I truly hope that Obama has the best interests of this country at heart and wish him the best of luck in taking over during a very challenging time. I would not want the job!
CWR Says:
@ God's Outlaw
If you don't at least make yourself seem willing to negotiate with dissatisfied nations then they have no option but to use force. That is far more dangerous than a negotiation attempt. That's just realism via Bueno de Mesquita and it is pretty hard to argue against.

MIDDLE AMERICA ISNT RICH. if you live in middle america you should be voting for DEMS. stop trying to act like you got money. you live in the worst ppart of america.

taxing the shit****
Jugger Says:
Saying it's okay to heavily tax the rich since I'm middle class is like a 10 year old saying, "Sure, tax the hell out of my parents. It won't affect my lifestyle or my allowance."
In other words, it's pretty stupid.
To TUF guy Says:
That's the best you came up with for him? The Mexican giving it to his wife? A real intellectual giant, you are! LOL.. What are you, 12?
Good analogy Jugger.... Says:
They still won't understand, but it's good, anyway.
Earl Says:
@CWR
Yes, I know the definition of socialism. I stated the "leanings" of liberal politics. Not the actual policies. I also understand that universal health care has its benefits. But, please tell me that Welfare/SSI/Disability benefits are not highly abused in this country. I've seen too many able-bodied people smoking cigarettes/having multiple children/not working to believe more free "whatever" is going to help.
With that said, I'm going back to being an MMA fan looking at MMA news.
Tomass Says:
what u guys dont realize is the extremely wealthy are the ones who proovide jobs for the middle class... Taxing them heavilly will discourage entrepunership and hurt small business... which in turn will hurt the middle class!
Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society!
^that is what obama wants therefore he is a scoailist! and socialism has never worked

HoB Says:
Panic, then realization, then panic again,
Obama’s proposed income tax increases (which won’t even be put forward for a vote until after the country is out of the current recession – i.e. in a couple years) are in the neighborhood of 2 to 3 percent, and would only apply to additional income you earn over and above the $250,000 threshold. So if you make $300,000 a year, your taxes would go up a whopping one or to two thousand dollars (2-3% of the additional $50K). And if you’re like most Americans and have a ton of deductions for your mortgage interest, children, etc., your federal income taxes will barely go up at all. Phasing social security payroll taxes back in for dollars earned above the $250,000 threshold is another potential issue, but you’ll really only feel it if you’re making a lot more than $250,000. If the increase in payroll taxes saves the system and actually results in you being able to collect social security when you retire, you might even come out ahead. It’s not going to kill you.
As for me, I’m under 30, make over $250K, pay a TON of taxes (federal, state and NYC tax + no mortgage interest deduction or dependents) and own a PC. I’m not thrilled about the prospect of paying more in taxes, but the last eight years have been a f*cking disaster in every possible way. Iraq was a gigantic clusterf*ck, we’re running record deficits and our economy has been run into the ground. I think it would be really tough for Obama to do a worse job running the country and wish him the best of luck
We ARE screwed Says:
So giving money to people who don't earn it is the way to go? The money giving to each individual will be in the ball park of $500 but the money taking from the rich will be millions in some cases.
Also, you don't pay the person before the work is done. That is how you kill productivity.
He also said he will bankrupt natural coal companies. That means higher heating and also means a lot of people that needs his handouts.
He also went to a church that is completely racist.
He also hung out with radicals like Bill Ayers. Has ties to Rev. Fara-ghengis-kahn.
Look at his supporters. Mostly made up of thugs like Ludicris and Fifty. Yeah, I want their input on how the country is run.
He also voted against a bill for botched aborted babies to get treatment. He said the medical associations back him up. That is only because of potential litigation
He also said he wants judges to rule on their emotions and for the little guy. Not on the law.
He also said he wants judges making law, not interpreting it.
He also said Fannie and Freddie Mac did not need regulation in 03 and again in 05 with his liberal Cronies Reed, Schumer, Pelosi, and Franks and that is what put the nails in the coffin on this economy. (While Bush and Mcain were calling for regulation and fore saw it BK banks and foreign investors)
He also had shady real estate deals.
He also has an aunt here illegally.
He also has no plans to secure the borders.
Shall I go on??? I can you know!

How many people posting here would consider themselves to be Christian??? Why are we so mean to each other. Why do we use negative words and insults to try to get our points across (including myself)??? Everyone that visits this site is doing better than over half the people in this country. Why can't we love the way Christ loved?
I voted for Obama, but I was moved to tears when McCain gave his speech last night. When he mentioned Obamas' name people started booing, but when Obama gave his speech and mentioned McCains name, people started cheering. That to me, shows where and why the country is divided. Why are the McCain supporters, and some of you here so bitter and or mad at Obama??? Both men love this country, and the one that won the election deserves our respect, and support. I'd like to challenge everyone that reads this. Are you going to be part of the solution or the problem. NO MORE HATING!!! God bless us all.
Hob is an idiot Says:
Iraq is not a disaster, you do not hear about the chemical and biological weapons found because it is Liberal media at its best. Plus, if it were done correctly, Iraq could long be an asset just like Germany and South Korea to stabilize the region just like South Korea and Germany. But you must be too small minded to think about the future.
Also, You can blame the current state of the economy on the Democrats.
When Bush, Mccain and other Republicans were calling for regulation on Fannie and Freddie in 03 and 05, Barney Frank, Obama, Schumer, Reed, Pelosi,... did not want it because Fran and Fred were their biggest donors. Not to mention the low income housing was helping their constituents.
These markets are correcting the falsified money from the 90's you idiot!

"you do not hear about the chemical and biological weapons found because it is Liberal media at its best"
Keep your tin foil hat on. My father was a weapons inspector and has spent at least six months a year in Iraq since this got started. There where no chemical and biological weapons.
Invading iraq damaged our credibility and earned us a ton of enemies around the world. It also emboldened Iran, which knows that the US doesn't have the resources to invade them as long as it's resources are committed to Iraq. In addition, we ran up huge amounts of debt. It was a bad move.
