The Potato Index: UFC 91 Aftermath

Now that this crazy weekend of MMA action is in the books, it's time to sort through the rubble of UFC 91 and figure out who's up and who's down. And how will we do that? Arbitrary numbers, baby. It's the only way.
Brock Lesnar +482
The line of reasoning that says he's too inexperienced to be deserving of a title shot simply doesn't hold up after he wins by second-round stoppage. Even if you don't think he beat the best Couture we've ever seen in the Octagon, he still looked positively terrifying in there. This guy can give lots of heavyweights lots of problems, particularly if he continues to improve. And if you're one of the millions who hate him, well, you're just playing right into his enormous hands.
Randy Couture -130
Maybe it was age that was Couture's undoing. Maybe it was size and strength. Regardless, it's hard to see how he will ever capture another UFC title. A fight against the loser of the Nogueira-Mir match would still be compelling, but time is running out. And fast.
Kenny Florian +274
He dismantled Joe Stevenson much the same way B.J. Penn did, if not more impressively. So why doesn't Penn seem at all interested in fighting him? Whatever happens in Penn's superfight with GSP, no lightweight has earned a title shot more than KenFlo and waited so long and so patiently for it. Come on, B.J. Let's do eet!
Demian Maia +212
We all know what Maia's gameplan is in every fight, but can anyone stop it? Quarry couldn't even come close, and he's no chump. Maia made it look easy. He says he wants Bisping next. We say that sounds like a great idea.
UFC newcomers -450
Josh Hendricks had a tough draw against Gabriel Gonzaga and he got outclassed big time. He was never in the fight and probably still doesn't remember how it ended. Rafael Dos Anjos was on his way to a decision victory until he let himself get caught by a punch everyone but him saw coming. Can't blame that on Octagon jitters.
Dustin Hazelett +101
Continues to make his case as the UFC's cerebral submissions expert who looks like he might also belong to a radical militia. Coming out to "Bad Moon Rising" and then putting on a clinic against Tamdan McCrory is a good way to win us over. The only question is whether he used his Submission of the Night money to stockpile canned goods and ammunition. One can only hope the answer is yes.
Joe Stevenson -147
No one wants to be a gatekeeper, but right now that would be a generous label for "Daddy." He wasn't even in Florian's league on Saturday. Could be back to Spike TV Fight Night events. At least it's better than unemployment.
Jorge Gurgel even
Gurgel loses. Again. And goes to a decision. Again. Still, it was ten times more exciting than most of his fights. You've got to wonder how long that's going to be good enough for him to hang around, though.
Joe Silva +118
Despite a dearth of big names on the undercard, it was a stellar night of fights. Way to make the most out of what you've got, matchmaker. But please, don't make a habit of it.

its funny how much I used to hate kenflo but in all honesty he is one of my favorite fighters now. I think he would have a solid chance against BJ. Cant wait to see that one.

does anybody know if swallowing a dildo can kill me?

Yes.
Piss in my own fruit tray Says:
I think Maia will destroy Bisping....Ken Flo has no chance against BJ....and really how long will he wait to fight again? You figure the Bj vs. Gsp is in 3 months, and the soonest BJ would fight KenFlo would be 3 months after that, so you are looking at 6-9 months before Kenny fights again, and he will be facing a BJ Penn that is putting himself against top talent While Kenflo will be getting nothing but cage rust....but good luck to him though....yeah.

First and foremost i'm not a nutthugger for any fighter. if i have to choose one to hug it'd be Arlovski.
Why do people "I HATE BROCK" so much? seriously? and i'm not talking about him as a person. i mean him as a fighter. Is it because he's a wrestler/brawler first and bear second? He's not the only guy that fights like that last time i checked. And he's not the most arrogant for sure, i think Timmeh takes that cake, in my opinion. So why is there "millions" that hate him?
please clarify haters...

Dearth?? are we playing scrabble? is that a word?
i hate penis chested knobgobblers Says:
maybe it has something to do with the penis on his chest or that he was a wwe superstar or that he has no class ie riding herring in the ring or maybe because he has little or no skill.

NOM NOM KNOBGOBBLERS MMMMM
jesus frijoles Says:
Everyone of you Brock bashers get your panties in a twist about all the "disrespect" Lesnar showed Herring. Did you not watch all the video of Herring blowin and gowin before their fight. The guy talked to some serious shit about Lesnar, gave him no effing respect at all. I bet he talks a different tune these days....whats that heath, cant hear ya?" He is lucky that is all he got from Lesnar, and I say let the big, fucker celebrate. Have you ever seen that shit that Brandon Vera does after a victory. Where is all the outrage over that? Backflips, sreaming and hollerin, backpedaling around like Chuck Liddell ,it's all part of the game. If you are gonna get your itty bitty feelings hurt, stay out of the cage.

Why wouldn't BJ b excited for this Florian Matchup. Let's see....Penn is one of those fighters a la Silva or St-Pierre that actually wants to fight the worlds best fighters. His last LW opponent is probably the only other world class fighter at LW in the UFC. Big wonder he's in such a rush to move up and fight St-Pierre. Penn is no fool and he doesn't consider his fans to be such either. You want a fight that will genuinely get Penn excited at LW and your gonna need an Eddie Alvarez or a Joachim Hansen....Kenny Florian??? C'mon anyone can see whats up. Penn has a history of going up weight classes, I mean the guy even has a loss to Lyoto Machida.
Joe Says:
where did you get the 5 to 1 underdog for lesnar?
Bill C. Says:
Tamdan McCrory -169
Still not getting laid.

Every time I see Brock's ground£, I have to laugh hard. Whether his method be effective or not, it's absolutely hilarious to watch him forearm-rapid-clobber-hammerfist someone on the mat. It just reminds me of a little kid. He must have rubbed his forearm on Randy's face like 35 times in that 6-secondish span that he had him down while Yamasaki was waiting to call the fight. Man, that looked funny. Nice technique...
Ennis Says:
I think Maia rises more then KenFlo though both did great jobs. I don't believe KenFlo will beat BJ but he will give him more trouble then anyone else thus far. Sherk beat KenFlo, but Florian is a better fighter then he was then.

Brock Lesnar proved himself last night, I was thinking today about who his next opponent could be, besides the winner of Minotauro vs. Frank Mir. He needs someone his size, like Steve Carwin even. Then I realized, maybe Lesnar should a bear.
Brock Lesnar vs. a full grown Grizzly Bear.
Then I started to fear for the bear.

What is this UFC?
Cotourealldaway Says:
Randy all the way. He may be gettin up there but he is still the man. He got caught with a couple of dingers. Oh well the name of the game. He handled the big bugger damn well I thought the 1st round was still his. Go randy I hope to see ya around forever!!!!!!!!!
FilmDrunk Says:
HAZELETT RULES!
Also, Mike Goldberg -500. What the hell is his purpose? Even after all this time he still doesn't know what the hell he's talking about, which leaves Rogan to handle the play by play. Really all he does is spew the kind of bonehead hyperbole and meaningless statistics that drove me away from other sports.
Joe Says:
'could we get a rogan/mike rating goin on ? i think i’d be a good idea, rate their commentary'
why dont you shut the Fuck about about the commentary and concentrate on the fighting!!
Bill C. Says:
Joe: "why dont you shut the Fuck about about the commentary and concentrate on the fighting!!"
Effective commentary can make a bad fight good, and a good fight great.
Joe Says:
'Effective commentary can make a bad fight good, and a good fight great.'
What is said outside the ring has no bearing on what happens inside the ring so although I can see what you are trying to say, you are wrong!!
If you need to hear Joe Rogan saying something 'good' to make it a 'great' fight you need to go to another sport, I could watch the fights with the volume down and appreciate every bit of what I am watching without the sound!
It about the fighting and nothing else!!!!
The Queer Police Says:
Nate Quarry: -300 for losing and then making out in the ring with his opponent
