Dan Henderson will wait for a title shot at 185 or 205

In November 2011 Dan Henderson returned to the UFC after spending some time in the Strikeforce organization. During his stay in Strikeforce he captured the organization’s Light Heavyweight title, defeating Rafael Cavalcante by TKO. He followed up that victory with another TKO win, stopping Fedor Emelianenko in the first round. When he stepped foot in the Octagon in November he and his opponent, Mauricio Rua delivered one of the best main events in UFC history going toe to toe for the full 25 minutes

Jon Jones: I’m sorry I’m coming across as cocky

Jon Jones was 6-0 when he first stepped into the Octagon, defeating Andre Gusmao via unanimous decision at UFC 87.  From there he went on to defeat Stephan Bonnar, again securing a unanimous decision.  After that, none of his fights would go the distance and his only loss would be a disqualification for delivering 12 to 6 elbows to Matt Hamill in their December 2009 match up.
Early in his run with the UFC, Jones was looked upon as a humble fighter, someone with great talent, but without a sense

Following his loss to Carlos Condit at UFC 143, Nick Diaz implied that he would be leaving the sport of MMA. The legitimacy of that claim was put into question when his drug test came back with marijuana metabolites, earning him a temporary license suspension pending a hearing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Nick’s brother, Nate took part in the UFC on FOX 3 press conference this week and spoke about Nick’s potential retirement. “I’m not going to tell him to go fight

Ronda Rousey: If the person doesn’t tap you keep going

On Saturday Strikeforce crowned a new Women’s Bantamweight Champion. Ronda Rousey took the title from Miesha Tate via an armbar that forced Tate to tap before the first round came to an end. The submission victory was Rousey’s fifth in five professional MMA fights, all coming in the first round and all coming via armbar.
The armbar left Tate’s arm twisted in what can kindly be called an unnatural angle prior to her tap.  There were some that said the referee should have stepped in

Josh Barnett issued license to fight in California

Over the weekend Strikeforce announced that the Strikeforce Heavyweight World Grand Prix final between Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier would take place on May 19.  Today, a second hurdle was cleared when Josh Barnett was issued a license to compete in the state of California.
The hearing itself was rather lengthy and interesting for the fact that Barnett, perhaps unexpectedly, said about his positive test in 2009, “I can’t speak on the test itself, what I can say is I didn’t
