Martial Arts Fail of the Week: Smear Shit on Yourself to Prevent Rape

Rape prevention is a serious topic and a noble endeavor but the guys in this video have pretty much no clue about it.

Many of the techniques are “street” techniques that simply assume someone is going to let you eye gouge them or hit them in the balls without doing anything–like they’ll just stand there and let you do it. To quote Daniel Cormier, “Do you think I’m just gonna sit there and let you kill me?

Anyway, these guys are basically peddling martial arts snake oil–or snake excrement. That’s right, shitting and pissing yourself is among the techniques they advocate. They also suggest rubbing shit on your arms and on your face, a Martial Arts Fail of the Week first.

Get a rundown of who these guys are (and what popular movie one of them was in) after the jump.

UFC Booking Alert: “The Korean Zombie” Returns to the Octagon Against Akira Corassani at UFC Fight Night 53

Chang Sung Jung is back! He’s been out of commission for over a year, but he’s finally just been booked for a fight. He’ll be facing Akira Corassani at UFC Fight Night 53 in Sweden. The card takes place on October 4th.

This will be the card’s co-main event.

Jung hasn’t fought since August 2013 at UFC 163. He lost to Jose Aldo in the fourth round via TKO–a fight in which “The Korean Zombie” dislocated his shoulder. The injury has sidelined him ever since. Before that fight, Jung had wowed audiences with a three-fight, three-finish winning streak over the likes of Leonard Garcia (when beating him still meant something), Mark Hominick, and Dustin Poirier. The fight against Corassani is an excellent chance for Jung to rebound (and maybe score another submission via twister).

And Now He’s Fired: Bellator Fires War Machine Over Domestic Abuse Allegations [UPDATED]

(War Machine in 2007 / Photo via Getty)

Bellator has fired War Machine after a report from TMZ claimed he was involved in a domestic violence investigation.

TMZ’s report claimed the domestic dispute involved three people at War Machine’s Las Vegas home. Two people were reportedly injured so bad they had to go to the hospital. The report claimed one victim was War Machine’s “significant other.”

A tweet from Christy Mack, War Machine’s sort of girlfriend (the “it’s complicated” relationship status was made for them), seems to confirm the report:

Urijah Faber Off UFC Japan Card, Replaced By the Last Guy He Beat

(With a cleft like that, Glazer is committing borderline sexual harassment here. Photo via Faber’s instagram.)

Last week (or maybe earlier this week, I’ve been drinking a lot lately), we informed you that Urijah Faber had been booked to face some guy who threw his last opponent out of the ring at Fight Night 52: Hunt vs. Nelson (a.k.a “The Japan Card”). I think his name was Masupingpong Toyatasuzuki, but then again, I’m *incredibly* racist.

In any case, word broke earlier today that Faber has been forced out of said matchup with said guy who threw his last opponent out of the ring due to an undisclosed injury (lotta that going around lately). As luck would have it, the UFC quickly found an entertaining, if slightly less known fighter to replace Faber: TUF 12 alum Alex Caceres, a.k.a the last guy Faber beat. (This means that now would be a good time to set down the bong, Alex.)

Faber and Caceres met at UFC 175 in the always coveted prelim main event slot, with Faber emerging victorious by third round submission via Hulk arms. Shamalamadingdong, on the other hand, will be making his UFC debut, having finished his last six fights in a row before throwing that poor sonofabitch out of the ring. God, I wish there was a video available of that fight.

Predictions, please.

‘I Will Literally Kill You’: Jones vs. Cormier Feud Takes a Nasty Turn in This Unaired ‘SportsCenter’ Footage

On Monday, Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier went on SportsCenter for a thought-provoking interview about the totally awesome! regrettable press-conference brawl that had gone down just hours beforehand. Though Cormier fired some heated barbs during the segment (“He’s a punk, he’s a liar, he’s a whole bunch of things he shouldn’t be proud about being”), Jones decided to do the interview as his Drowsy Autistic Guy character, which could still use some workshopping, honestly.

It turns out that the real heat came after the segment was officially over. In this incredibly uncomfortable footage (via MMAJunkie), Jones asks Cormier, “Hey pussy, are you still there?”, which leads Cormier to marvel at how fake Jones is, and how he can turn into a completely different person when the cameras are off. Then it gets really good:

Cormier: You are the fucking scum of the earth, you are a terrible human being, but you can sure turn it on, huh?

Jones: Thank you.

Cormier: Gaahh, fuck. I wish they would let me next door so I can spit in your fucking face.

Jones: [long pause] You know I would absolutely kill you if you ever did something like that, right?

Hot Potatoes: Meet the UFC’s Newest Latin American Ring Girls [20 Photos]

Earlier this week, the UFC announced that, in addition to their ever-growing roster of octagon girls in the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Asia, and Australia, 2009 Miss Earth contestant Jamillette Gaxiola and Costa Rican model Betzy Montero will be signing on as the UFC’s official Latin American ring girls. This is no doubt meant to tie in with the upcoming season of TUF Latin America and UFC 180, which will mark the UFC’s first ever trip to Mexico, as well as the promotion’s plans to visit Puerto Rico in 2015. When reached for comment about the new ring girls, Fabricio Werdum was strangely silent.

More octagon girls is something we can always get behind (Hiyo!), so check out our favorite photos of Jamillette and Betzy in the gallery after the jump.

Did ‘Gym Rescue’ Destroy T3 Health & Fitness? Spike TV Reality Show Sets Off Nasty Dispute

Spike TV’s newest reality series, ‘Gym Rescue‘, is set to debut this Sunday, August 10th, at 10 p.m. ET. Last week, Craig Marks — the glasses-tossing gym owner featured in the episode 1 sneak-preview — reached out to CagePotato.com to discuss how the new series inaccurately portrayed what went down when Randy Couture and Frank Shamrock “rescued” his gym. Marks claims that the show wound up destroying his business, but ‘Gym Rescue’ host Frank Shamrock maintains that he offered Craig valuable assistance, and that Craig’s lack of business expertise is what really sunk his operation. Join us as we present both Craig and Frank’s versions of the experience.

By Seth Falvo

“The entire ordeal was supposed to be fun and beneficial. It was to the production company. To us, it was a disaster and we have had to start our business over from scratch.”

This isn’t what Craig Marks — former owner of T3 Health & Fitness in Cooper City, Florida — thought he’d be writing about his experience when he allowed his struggling gym to be “rescued” as part of Spike TV’s newest reality series. He also didn’t anticipate thousands of dollars worth of fines, a nasty mold infestation that forced him to relocate to nearby Davie, and the loss of several longstanding clients in the process. When Marks reached out to me last week, his ensuing diatribe placed the blame for these and other struggles that his business has endured solely on Gym Rescue.

Needless to say, Gym Rescue host Frank Shamrock does not agree that the show has ruined T3 Health & Fitness. Rather, Shamrock painted Marks as a good-hearted person who is unfortunately trying to blame the reality series for his own shortcomings as a businessman. “Craig was a unique individual who reminds me a lot of what you see in the martial arts,” Shamrock said. “A guy who has a passion for helping other people, but doesn’t really have good business sense.”

What’s indisputable throughout all of this is that Craig Marks has recently filed for bankruptcy. While he’s looking to rebuild Xcelerate Training — the new name for his gym — he’s facing an uphill battle.

GIF-Ranking the Bevy of Fights to Be Booked Today, August 7th, By Interest Level

(So *that’s* what Amir’s been up to these past few years? That poor, poor man…)

You might not know this, but the UFC needs to book a fight approximately every 3.5 seconds in order to pull off hosting as many cards as it does these days. And with fighters going down to injury every 5-6 seconds, the UFC is all but forced to inflate its already bloated roster (or keep some fighters around way, way too long) with less than experienced fighters to make up the difference. Hence, Royston Wee.

In the past 12 hours, a half dozen or so fights have been booked for just these reasons. Most of them promise to be entertaining affairs. Some of them, not so much. Hence, gifs. Let’s get started.

Chan Sung Jung vs. Akira Corassani — Fight Night Sweden

Although not officially confirmed, it looks like we will finally see “The Korean Zombie” return to the octagon for the first time since being broken to pieces in his four round smash-up with Jose Aldo at UFC 163. According to reports, Jung will face TUF 14 alum and Swedish native Akira Corassani at Fight Night 53 on October 4th.

Corassani has also had a rough go of things lately — back in November, he scored a victory via DQ against Maximo Blanco at the TUF 18 Finale when a blitzkrieg of illegal knees rendered him unable to continue. He was then legally smashed up by Dustin Poirier in the second round of a back-and-forth, “Fight of the Night”-earning effort at the TUF Nations Finale. At the very minimum, someone is going to have something broken in this fight, which makes this ranking obvious:

Throwback Thursday: 15 Brutal IVC Fights That You Probably Haven’t Seen Before

(Gary Goodridge submits Augusto Menezes Santos with a reverse full-nelson at IVC 1, 7/6/97. Classic Big Daddy.)

Since our Throwback Thursday series is focusing on the ’90s this month, we decided to look back at an important (but mostly forgotten) promotion that was running no-holds-barred fights back then — the International Vale Tudo Championship.

Launched in Brazil in 1997, the IVC was like a grittier, nastier version of the UFC, featuring legal head-butts and groin-strikes, 30-minute marathon brawls, and a ring instead of a cage. It was old-school and ugly, just the way we liked it.

And now, through the magic of YouTube, it’s time to revisit those days. Here are 15 of our all-time favorite fights from the IVC’s first ten events, in loose chronological order. Enjoy.

(Dan Severn defeats Ebenezer Fontes Braga via doctor’s stoppage TKO at IVC 1.)

(Gary Goodridge submits Pedro Otavio via strikes in the IVC 1 final, after 16 minutes of creative groin abuse.)
