Fight Night 79 Results/Highlights: Bendo Bendo’s, Sexyama Falls, and Dudes Named “Dong” Go 2-1

I’ll be honest with you, Nation: Not much of note happened at last weekend’s Fight Night event from Seoul, South Korea, so much so that the UFC hasn’t even released any actual fight highlights from the event. In the main event of the evening, Benson Henderson did his Benson Henderson thing and outpointed Jorge “GAMEBRED” Masvidal en route to a split decision victory, then both symbolically announced he was leaving the UFC and called out Georges St. Pierre. At least I think he did. It was all a bit confusing, so you’ll have to watch his post-fight interview above to get some sense of it.

What else? Oh right, guys named “Dong” — of which there were 3 on the Fight Night 79 card — went a solid (or perhaps firm) 2-1 on the evening, with Dong Hyun Kim scoring a first round TKO over Dominic Waters in the evening’s co-main event, Dongi Yang defeating Jake Collier via second round TKO in the “featured prelim,” and the other, debuting Dong Hyun Kim suffering a hellacious KO via slam to Dominique Steele in the first bout of the night. So basically, two dongs stood proud while one wilted under the pressure. Not a bad ratio, amiright ladies?

Video of Steele’s brutal slam and the full results from Fight Night 79 are after the jump.

War Machine Argues “You Can’t Rape a Pornstar” + Other Developments From His Preliminary Hearing

Being that he’s currently on trial for some 34 charges including the attempted murder and sexual assault of his former girlfriend, Christy Mack, we could pretty much close the book on former UFC/Bellator fighter War Machine undergoing a series of personal changes that completely redeemed him in our eyes. That said, recent developments in the trial of one John J. (for Jerkface) Koppenhaver have managed to somehow lower our previously un-lowerable opinion of the man.

[VIDEO] Jon Jones Finally Speaks About Accident, Suspension, + Vitor Belfort’s “Sketchy” UFC 152 Drug Test

(While not without his faults, Jones remains a much better role model than Peyton Manning.)

It has been an…eventful six months for former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, or at least, that’s how he describes them in his recent interview with Ariel Helwani. I’ll spare you all the readily available details, but suffice it to say, Jones has screwed up, repeatedly, and it’s cost him nearly everything.

But finally, it appears the maybe, just maybe, his past mistakes are having an effect on his present mindset. With his UFC suspension now lifted and his court case settled, Jones has rededicated himself to recapturing his belt, and the results thus far have been astounding. He may have a long way to go still to earn back our respect, but with the lengthy interview after the jump, he’s at least taking the first step and accepting the blame for what he’s done.

Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort II Reportedly Booked for UFC 197

(Never go full Ritor. via Getty.)

When Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort first met in the octagon, the former was an unstoppable, arrogant-bordering-on-cocky champion and the latter was a battle-tested veteran who would supposedly serve as his toughest test to date. They shared many similarities beyond their penchant for knocking people out (they’re both Brazilian!), but when push came to shove, Silva emerged as the clearly superior fighter.

Four years later, Silva has lost his title, broken his leg in the cage, and been popped for PED’s which may or may not have been caused by Thai black market sex pills, while Belfort himself has also lost a title bid and done pretty much everything within his power to deflect criticism from his PED-riddled past. Again, the similarities are striking here, which is perhaps why the two former champions have once again been booked to throw down.

Jon Jones Swallows Entire Horse, Announces Official Return Date via Instagram

(GOOD GAWD. via Jones’ Instagram.)

Good afternoon, Nation. After a much-needed vacation, it feels good to be back.

As a matter of fact, that’s probably a sentiment being shared by former light heavyweight champ Jon Jones right about now, what with him recently being reinstated into the UFC and all. As you might’ve noticed via the Instagram post above, it appears that Jones has spent his involuntary off-time following the Alistair Overeem diet of horse meat, push-ups, the meat of horses, and even more push-ups. Seriously, dude looks YOKED.

But if the idea of Jon Jones 2.0 (UberJones?) wasn’t already scary enough, the troubled G.O.A.T also took to Instagram last night to announce the date that he will return to the octagon.

Following Demoralizing Loss, Where Does Rousey Go From Here?

Holly Holm’s upset at UFC 193 wasn’t just a win, it was a wrecking of Ronda Rousey’s world. It was the equivalent of throwing a cold glass of water on the shared superstar dreams of Rousey and UFC president Dana White.

Fighters suffer big losses on a fairly regular basis in the UFC; it happens and the good ones always bounce back. But this time was different.

Why I’m Happy Holm Destroyed Rousey

Ronda Rousey needed to get knocked out, to put it bluntly. She had let all the hype go to her head and was recently acting like a cross between a brat and a bully.

Enter Holly Holm. She came into this fight as a 14-1 underdog and the No. 7 fighter in the division – and she annihilated Rousey from the opening bell until her lights-out kick.

Holm beat Rousey so ridiculously bad that Dana White was in full defensive mode in the post fight press conference. His cash cow didn’t just get caught with a lucky punch, she got torn apart in the ring to the point she literally looked like a drunk throwing punches. That’s not good for business.

Holly Holm Takes Less Than Six Minutes to Shock the World

Holly Holm Knocks Out Ronda Rousey

Nobody gave Holly Holm much of a chance. She came into the fight as much as a 20-to-1 underdog. And then, she took less than six minutes to shock the world as she landed a second-round head kick knockout over Ronda Rousey to cap off UFC 193.

In case you didn’t see it…
