Affliction’s “Day of Reckoning” Taking Shape, Going on Sale

(Couldn’t have done it without you, big guy.)

As much as it looked like it might never happen at times, Affliction: Day of Reckoning is going on sale this week. The online presale started today and tickets officially go on sale Wednesday for the January 24 event. They’ve even added more fights than just the Fedor Emelianenko-Andrei Arlvoski bout in some crazy attempt to entice people by telling them what they’re actually paying for.

According to Affliction’s website, here’s what the card is looking like so far:

Main Card (pay-per-view)
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski
Josh Barnett vs. TBA
Vitor Belfort vs. TBA
Renato Sobral vs. Matt Lindland
Chris Horodecki vs. Dan Lauzon

Undercard (HDNet)

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
Jay Hieron vs. Jason High
Mark Hominick vs. LC Davis
Albert Rios vs. Antonio Duarte
Brett Cooper vs. TBA
Paul Buentello vs. Kiril “Baby Fedor” Sidellnikov

Okay, so it’s not exactly the stacked card they debuted with, though there are still some interesting TBA’s that could add some zing. Note that even though Barnett needs an opponent, we still don’t see Tim Sylvia‘s overpriced ass on there. Can’t say I blame them.

Does someone know something I don’t here…how is Nogueira fighting for Affliction and why on Earth would he be billed as un undercard?

there are two nogueira brothers. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

Seems to me the UFC should have waited on releasing guys like Werdum and Filho. Affliction could get either guy at a bargain price right now and put them on their show.

Werdum vs. Barnett could be a very interesting fight.

Can we get Jamie Sterling and half Amazing some t-shirts or something, and maybe ban these other idiots?

at fedor rules ,are u serious ,coleman did not destroy shogun he won by a freak accident i guarantee you shogun wins the rematch and forrest didnt destroy shogun it was a close fight til shogun gassed .Also i havent seen the whole fedor vs coleman fight i think they fought twice and fedor won them both ,and he armbarred him with a beautiful armbar in one of the fights ,also forrest would never fight fedor it will never happen but if it did fedor would rape him .

I see some people here are unable to grasp the concept of sarcasm.

Why are you all taking Fedor Rules so seriously? He's clearly joking around. He's pretty funny too if you can take the joke instead of trying to come up with a logical argument against what he's saying.

"Fedor is the greatest I’ve been following his career since Hong Man Choi..."

Comedy genious.

"You Affliction new comers don’t have any idea..."

Gee, do you think it's possible that when he wrote that he knew Affliction had only run one show?

"O.K. So I did some further research into this and... Fedor has fought for a while but doesn’t have a single UFC win... The only way I see this question getting answered is to have Fedor fight Forrest Griffen."

He know's what he's saying is pretty dumb, that's why he's saying it so what's the point in arguing with it.

@Fedor Rules

First of all MMA math never works and should be used very sparingly to determine how good a fighter is. You should try the more direct approach. Fedor beat the current UFC heavyweight champ in Nogueira (one of them) twice. He easily beat another former champ Sylvia. He also holds wins over former UFC champs Mark Coleman and Kevin Randleman. He's beaten Renato Sobral and Mirko CroCop also. The only fights left to prove himslef are against Arlovsky and Barnett.

If you wanna do MMA math then consider Arlovsi lost to Sylvia twice and was destroyed by Fedor. Barnett lost to Nogueira who was beaten by Fedor twice.

Fedor has never bean beaten!! His one "loss" was because of a cut delivered by an illegal blow. The only reason he got a loss was because the tournament needed someone to advance that night to the next fight so they had the rules written that way.

@ Nicolia nog has a younger twin brother with the same name, his middle names rogerio instead of rodrigo and his nick names minatoro instead of minatauro also hes smaller middleweight. easy to get confused

O.K. So I did some further research into this and maybe you guys have a small point. Fedor has fought for a while but doesn't have a single UFC win. What does that say about his level of competition? I'd say it's pretty weak. The only way I see this question getting answered is to have Fedor fight Forrest Griffen. Fedor barley beat Coleman who destroyed Shogun who was then destroyed by Griffen. So until Forrest Beats Fedor, Fedor still rules. Try to find a hole in that logic Fight Fan, Slug, and Jay Smith

Ya know, I must admit that I'm guilty of doing some bashing on "The Maine-iac", but it seems to me that Sylvia is really getting a raw deal here.

Sure, he was ridiculously overpriced for the first Affliction fight, but so was everybody else! Did Lindland really earn his money? Come on...

Like it or not, Sylvia added the much needed "gravitas" that Affliction had to have to make the Fedor fight legit. Sylvia had name recognition, was a former UFC champ and has gone head-to-head with some of the UFC's best. If Affliction didn't have Sylvia, Fedor's victory would not have made such an impact.

Personally, I think Affliction should, at the very least, cut Tim's salary and give him a shot for at least one fight. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Barnett. I hope they have the decency to make that happen.

What's with Russian fighters and Mullets? That kid looks more like Baby Aleks with that haircut. They just now getting IROCs over there?
mayhem420- November 17, 2008 at 11:26 am
So Josh IS fighting on this card now? Wonder who they will get to fight him?
Same with Vitor... this looks so far like a good card. However we all know how this could change completely or not even happen at all. Affliction has already moved this show back once before and changed the main event.
I'll be more excitied once its Jan 24th.
Hope AA can beat the un-beatable Fedor.... but I doubt it.
Jay Smith- November 17, 2008 at 4:12 am
I love it when someone (other than me) makes a complete DICK of themselves........IN WRITING.............for all to see!!!! It's beautiful.

Listen, I just hope Arlovski shocks the world and beats Fedor................then again, I wanted Randy to beat Brock too.............nevermind.
fightfan- November 17, 2008 at 3:36 am
Since Hong Man Choi..........

All the way back since his fight before last
fightfan- November 17, 2008 at 3:29 am
I get bashed an on normal basis here, so I am gonna go ahead and say this.......

"Fedor Rules" says........

'I’ve been following his career since Hong Man Choi and have been utterly amazed and blown away. You Affliction new comers don’t have any idea what you’re talking about!'

You are calling people "newcomers" when you have JUST started following one of the biggest names in mma. Fedor has been fighting for 8 years, plus. And that was when he actually fought REAL fighters. Fedor's career Since Hong Man Choi aint much longer than since Brock Lesnar wins UFC strap
sambo guy- November 17, 2008 at 2:38 am
lol fedor fought hong man choi right before sylvia, he has more significant victories in his other 28 fights, and i just whooped fedors ass in a sambo tournament. so i am the greatest
slug- November 17, 2008 at 2:21 am
Fedor Rules:
U've been following his career since hong man choi? So you've seen two of his you're a fedor whiz. An afficianado of sorts on the career of Fedor. You do know he fought 28 times before the hong man choi fight right? Fedor is a great fighter, I'm just glad someone that has been there from the beginning has finally said it. Thanks Fedor Rules.
Lodz- November 17, 2008 at 1:41 am
Im actually kinda digging this card.

Fedor is the greatest I've been following his career since Hong Man Choi and have been utterly amazed and blown away. You Affliction new comers don't have any idea what you're talking about! Hes the greatest!

MMAJunkie- November 17, 2008 at 1:14 am
I think the undercard looks more interesting...

Arlovski may get Nelson again:

According to his CageWiki article, Fedor Emelianenko "is a proponent of high training, smoking crack in Russia with his team once or twice a year to train high."

cr_trinity- November 17, 2008 at 12:09 am
Affliction needs to rectify the Arlovski/ Nelson debacle by scheduling a rematch between the two. It was perfectly obvious the stand up from side mount position was based on the attending crowds dislike for ANY sort of technical fighting prowess. Arlovski should man up over this; in actuality he should take this fight first and save himself from an embarassing TKO or submission loss in. Barnett's been shafted here.
jdavis- November 17, 2008 at 12:03 am
I can understand them not wanting to pay Sylvia but are any of Monte Cox, Adrenaline fighters on the card? Wonder if they had a falling out?
