MMA Weekly reports that UFC and Affliction executives met late last month to build a formal partnership that would allow Affliction to return to the UFC as a major clothing sponsor and work with the UFC to create co-branded apparel. In exchange, Affliction would agree to cease operations as a fight promotion and allow the UFC to buy out several of their fighter contracts. Unfortunately, the détente began to fall apart after EliteXC’s “Heat” show on October 4th, when Affliction’s ads plugging Fedor’s next fight made UFC executives feel that the deal wasn’t being taken seriously.
On Monday, a conference call was held between UFC and Affliction execs in an attempt to resurrect the partnership. Details are sketchy, though MMA Weekly reports that the call quickly turned hostile, with Affliction co-founder Todd Beard at one point telling Lorenzo Fertitta “you’ve fucked with the wrong guy.” So for now, it looks like Affliction is still shut out of the Octagon, and will continue to burn money as a fight promoter. Their next event, headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski and co-promoted by Golden Boy, goes down January 24th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
But Affliction isn’t the only apparel brand that’s getting shut out of UFC events. MMA Payout has learned that MMA apparel and collectible company MMA Authentic — best known for its CageFighter label — has been barred from the Octagon effective immediately:
The dispute is rumored to have arisen from a conflict over shelf space in Wal-mart stores. Sources told MMAPayout.com that CageFighter/MMA Authentics beat out the UFC for the valuable real estate in the nation’s top retailer. As a result Zuffa pulled the plug on MMA Authentics’ access to the Octagon in retaliation…
CageFighter and MMA Authentics has a impressive list of fighters who will be adversely affected by the ban. BJ Penn, Michael Bisping, Forrest Griffin, Marcus Davis, Brandon Vera, Urijah Faber, Sam Stout, Roger Huerta, and Chuck Liddell all have signature shirts available for purchase through one or more of the MMA Authentics brands.
Do it, CageFighter — hire Jared Shaw and start your own MMA league to compete with the UFC. You know you want to.

commentsMMA is where it is today because of small promoters, fight schools, and fighters that fought in warehouses and gyms risking criminal charges to keep the sport going. Fighters that sacrifice and train then walk the walk.
The UFC, Pride, GSP, and Affliction are all or were all great promotions but none of them nor their presidents or owners were there when the house was being built, they all just moved in and hosted great parties.
I don't know much about Atencio or Skala, but Gary Shaw has done great work promoting in boxing and allowing the fighters to keep the spotlight ie. Diego Corrales (R.I.P.) vs Jose Luis Castillo I and II.
You guys gossip and believe gossip without research Like women and bahty man.
It's all about the fighters.
I'm not hating on Dana he is doing his job. It you nuthugging, d!ckriding Dana disciples that are irritating.
cr_trinity appears to have some issues with America and some racial issues. While I agree with some of his views re: MMA was not saved or built by Dana White and the UFC.
UFC is a great platform and promotion for these great athletes, but they are "NOT" the heart and soul of MMA and Dana is not the savior.
We need more big MMA shows. this tyoe of competition will keep the Promotions honest and make them better.
1. Wear the shirt that Dana lays out for you.
2. Kiss Dana's ass before entering the cage.
UFC will/should/needs to dominate the sport of MMA. They will be the NFL of MMA all their titles are the ones that will matter. The boxing model sucks and will not work.
Don't let your jealousy of Dana White blind you.
Another good point. The UFC made Afflicted what they are today... they made tons of money, now the situation has changed due to their idiotic decision to get into the promotion game. They will lose millions and fold. If they would have stuck to T-shirt making they would be plenty rich now. F them for trying to copy Dana
example? Who still likes Terrel Owens? anyone? anyone...beuhler? beuhler?
right...ok who likes the Dallas cowboys? uh huh that's right, you see its not about these fighters, its about the company. these guys wanna play in a PRO league then play by the owners fucking rules, or your ass will get replaced.
And why is that fucking Kikes seem to dominate the Entertainment Industry hmm? Why is that?
But the mag's Dana White brings you the UFC workout?............. umm if I want a "ufc" workout I will go with GSP, Silva, Sherk or you know an actual ufc fighter not the dude in the front office.
Here you go UFC Fan. You and him are so alike. Total fake idiots who parrot the same shit verbatim in the hope people might actually start believing your illogical garbage.
And it's amazing how so many dumbasses out there believe that singlehandedly White saved the UFC from extinction. Ever heard of the Hegelian Dialectic, or reverse psychology chump moherfuckers? When the UFC went "underground" in the mid to late 90's, that was to build interest in it, for you see with Joe Sixpack and Max Dickhead out there anything that is banned by the State must be good, right?
I await the response of UFC Fan; I'll wait a while for him to stop wanking off to the latest Dana Kike Airbrushed Magazine Cover. Cage Potato, upload it so people know what I'm talking about please.
Why would fans support a monopoly ie. UFC's gameplan?
We need big Sponsors and competition.
MMA fans have taken too much sh!t from Dana "It's my ball, so play by my rules" White. Fans quit acting like punks and support the guys that spill blood for your entertainment.
F@ck Dana and any one else that doesn't support fighters in and out of the UFC.
You obviously havent seen many recent UFC cards.
The last one sucked ass.
Leben and the british reality homo as a main event?
Soon this will be all over and the UFC will be the only ones left and you can write about them all day. Life will be good then. Think of all the filler you wont have to waste your time with.
Neither t-shirt guy, nor any other wanna-be promotor should be coming into the market with a fist full of laundered money and try to tell the UFC what they're gonna do and how they're gonna do it.
If a new promotion wants to be taken seriously they should do their due dillegence and build a farm system and work up from there.
These charlatans instead are in for a quick cash grab and will jeapordize the future and integrity of MMA to do it...see EXC.
Moan and complain all you want about Dana, but aside from protecting his business investments, he always has the future of the sport in mind.
As for banning a rival clothing company, it makes good sense but at the same time, I don't see the fighters being too happy losing dollars. True that UFC is the big player, but endorsement deals took the pressure off of ZTake away one revenue stream for fighters, be ready for them to get it back some other way
