Aldo Out of UFC 125 Bout With Josh Grispi With Undisclosed Injury

("Easiest title win EVA!!")

According to a report from, newly crowned UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has  been forced out of his planned first title defense against Josh Grispi at UFC 125 in January.

Aldo was presented with the belt during last weekend’s UFC 123 event in Auburn Hills, Michigan and if he really wanted to make an interesting mark in the MMA record books, he would go through with our suggestion that he retire as the only UFC champion with an 0-0 record in the Octagon.

There’s no word on the nature of the injury, but there’s bound to be a plethora of rumors about how Aldo got hurt. We actually have it on good authority that it was groin pull he sustained during his first Smashers Club get together on Saturday night.

We’ll have more details as they emerge.

Personally, I dig the Ben Stein look. You go, Joe.

Are they replacing the bout with anything else?

It is pronounced "Joe-zay" in Portuguese, yet I've heard Ed Soares pronounce it "Ho-zay" before. Maybe he was just translating it for Cain Velasquez.

Take off the suit Jose, you look like a little rascal.

Yeah, Aldo's name is pronounced (roughly) "Jo-zay". Soares talked about it with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour.

He was pushed onto a barbeque grill again by his sisters. I have a very reliable source.

Jose means Joe, or Joseph.
KarmaAteMyCat- November 23, 2010 at 8:17 pm
Portuguese and Spanish have very similar pronunciations depending on local area and street slang etc etc

Ed Sores translates "Jose" as "I'd like to thank my sponsors, my opponent, and the fans" Joe Rogan believes this to be completely accurate.

Crap and double crap. I was looking forward to this, too.

Anyway, yeah... it was hard to miss the "Joe-Say" pronunciation on Saturday. Figured it was just Goldberg having a brain fart. But then Rogan said it. And then I got to thinkin'... Does a J really sound like an H in Portuguese? Where's that Ed Sores dude when you need him? But why turn to him when I've got Google Translate, the poor man's Ed Sores.

I think he just wants to be the UFC champ for a little while longer.

JosĂ© "El Chihuahuacabra" Aldo da Silva Oliveira JĂșniorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Maybe he caught a bad case of sub-dermal Armeniatis-osis from grappling that greasy Gamburyan. I've heard that the side effects include jaundice, ashy knees, garlicky halitosis, and an unhealthy thickening and condensation of eye-brow hair. Patients have also been known to uncontrollably end phrases with the utterance "brro".

did I hear someone say interim title?
He should just retire and make buddy movies with Tony Jaa.
