Aleks Emelianenko Out, Big Daddy In for Affliction

The Affliction weigh-ins at the Honda Center in Anaheim offered a few surprises today. For one, Donald Trump showed up “straight from the golf course” to insist that the event was sold out and that pay-per-view buys were through the roof, which seems like a very liberal interpretation of the truth at this point. For another, the Aleksander Emelianenko-Paul Buentello bout was scrapped when Emelianenko “didn’t meet CSAC licensing standards.”

That could mean a lot of different things, but right now it mostly means that Aleks is out and “Big Daddy” Gary Goodridge, who was hanging around before the weigh-ins started, is Buentello’s new opponent. Buentello can be seen in the above video from MMA Rated expressing his frustration and confusion right after the weigh-ins.

ikrazy.net reports that Aleks was found medically unfit for the match. They said it was just minutes before he was suppose to wiegh in. Aren't the fighters suppose to be checked out by a doctor long before it comes to the wiegh ins?

That sucks about Emelianenko! Is this another sign that the UFC is the only really organized outfit in MMA? Why was the fight cancelled at the last minute, and why wasn't Buentello told? Small time BS.

The only good thing about all this UFC vs Affliction stuff is that it has completely overshadowed the upcoming EliteXC fight on July 26th - no one is talking about it! And the results from tonite's matches will still be talked about even up until the 26th, making Shaw look even more like a joke.

ufc fan said what you think one would ,aleksander is an up an coming amazing fighter , some pple here are so cought up in the marketing that the ufc really has the best angle, put your show in a light saying that other shows have crappy fighters and urs is the best because dana tells u so .........pple need to wake up but its no surpise most north americans think ufc is the pinnacle of mme achivement , id say the pinnacle of mma exploitation , who was there to bail out "cach-cow" jackson but dana white, why bc jackson is marketable and thats all he really cares about is th ebottom line not mma's well being

Aleks is fun to watch and sad to hear he won't be fighting, but Goodridge always brings a brawl and a dramatic chick with dreads. I think it should be a good fight none the less.

And the rest of the card is unreal. Fedor, Josh, Ben, Matt etc... Let the beat downs begin!

PS. Video of the weigh-ins, Fedor's arms looked like oil rig pylons. He normally doesn't look like a man of muscle. Or am I just nutthugging? Whatever, I'd tickle his taint if it helps him knock Timmay!'s head off. Go ahead Timmay! just try and jab Fedor for 5 rounds and see where that gets you. KTFO
