Alex Emelianenko revealed over the weekend that he will face his next inexperienced opponent October 28 in Poland. The younger brother of Fedor Emelianenko confirmed the news with FightCard.pl that he will take on Polish kickboxer Tomasz Nowak (2-0 MMA, 27-4 kickboxing) at an event called Strefa Walk.
Although he is an experienced K-1-level striker who went five rounds with Jerome LeBanner last year, Nowak has not competed in MMA since 2008.
You may recall, that Strefa Walk is the same organization that released a false story that Aleks would be fighting Alistair Overeem on their November 19 card last year. When Overeem denied being in talks with the promotion, so they pretended that they didn’t just make it up and announced that he had been replaced by Pawel Nastula, which also turned out to be false as they later “officially” announced that Lil’ Emel would be facing 1-0 fighter Chris Mahle.
It was no surprise when they announced that they would be “postponing” the event for undisclosed reasons.
I guess Sergei Kharitonov will be watching to see if Aleks’ pre-fight medicals come back clean to see if he should get used to living without one of his fingers.
