Alexander Gustafsson to Welcome Gegard Mousasi to UFC in April

(Let’s get this man some new gloves)

Swedish sensation Alexander Gustafsson is going to put his six fight win streak and legit claim to #1 contender-ship in the light heavyweight division on the line against Gegard Mousasi April 6. The UFC just announced that the pair will headline UFC on FUEL TV 9 this spring.

Mousasi last lost in 2010 against Muhammed Lawal and is coming off of a submission win over Mike Kyle at the final Strikeforce event. Gustafsson won a decision over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in December.

If it wasn’t for his young age and the long line of people talking themselves into title shots against champion Jon Jones and the huge mess that has ensued, Gustafsson would likely already be considered worthy of challenging “Bones.” As it stands, Gustafsson has to keep on fighting and winning to earn his shot.

Mousasi is more of a hardcore fan cult favorite than household name – despite his impressive resume and skill set – so Gustafsson is taking a big risk in fighting the Dutchman. For Mousasi, this is a golden opportunity to leapfrog ahead of the entire UFC roster of light heavyweights and lay claim to a title shot should he beat Gustafsson.

Given that he’s said in the past that he’s suffered from lack of motivation, Mousasi is likely relishing the stakes in this bout for his career. Who do you got, nation?

Ur talking about a Potential number one contender, who's on a 6 fight win streak, who finished 4 of the 6 fights. Yea so wat he didn't have the greatest Performance against shogun, but who has Mousasi beat hector aloooooooooooooong time ago by Decision, and a bunch of old d rated pride fighters.
dipsetkilla316- January 20, 2013 at 12:10 am
@dickfifteen everything u said about Gus is true, but wat does it matter how much money mousasi makes so wat, I just saw Dennis siver just made 68,000 pulse 38,000 win bouns that 106,000 of that Phan nam win so should he fight TKZ, or the winner of Ricardo lamas and Erik Koch?

Mousasi might have won that fight under Stockton rules, but Fightmetric scored it the same way as the judges, 3-2 for King Mo.
Mr_Misanthropy- January 19, 2013 at 4:02 pm
@ Wrecks

I was wondering if anybody else still remembered that.

King Moo laid and prayed and got repeatedly drilled with elbows to the grill until he looked like JDS's girl's doppelganger. Moose Saucey looked like he had been hanging out in a sauna for twenty five minutes.

He looked a hell of a lot better than Jardine after their draw, as well.

Takes fights because he loves to fight my ass. Do you think the dude can afford to sit on the bench a whole year like Hendo? Winning two rounds over Shogun, a guy Jon Jones absolutely murdered, isn't exactly setting off bells of excitement in anyone's head. Not to mention some of us still haven't forgotten AG getting choked out by Phil Davis, who is basically Jon Jones lite. It's not gonna hurt anyone to see this dude pick up another legit win.
ReX13- January 19, 2013 at 3:17 pm
Gegard beat King Mo's ass in that "loss", ya'll.

Gotta live alex gus, he's the true #1 con. (maybe Hendo). Still takes fights, beacuse he lives to fight

Pen Fifteen- January 19, 2013 at 1:43 pm
Yes Walrus, dipset is a retard, but at this point, he's our retard.

And to answer your question dipset, Mousasi is probably getting a fight with Gustaffson because they're paying him too much to fight anyone else. The guy got $175k flat for his last fight. For that much money, he needs to prove he's a contender fast, and if not, they can dump his salary.

Are you retarded? You have the humor of a seven year old. Quit plaguing these boards with your idiocy. Anyways, I got Gustafsson.
Mr_Misanthropy- January 19, 2013 at 4:08 pm
I'll bet you think you're so cool you won't even laugh at fart or dick jokes in public.
dipsetkilla316- January 19, 2013 at 12:12 pm
I don't even understand y gay guard gets the fight I mean he has a decent winning streak against d level fighters. Gus has beaten, and finish 4 out of 5 c level fighters, and then he beat shogun a b level fighter. Now Gus has 6 str8, So can someone explain to me why gay guard is getting this fight
dipsetkilla316- January 19, 2013 at 12:06 pm

Gustaf wins the decision thru g&p. Mousasi drops to middle weight and losses again to relatively unknown up and comer, then heads to Japan to fight an outmatched never-was.
