Steroids in MMA
Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

And Now He’s Fired: Sean McCorkle

(Right back atcha, buddy.)

After consecutive stoppage losses to Stefan Struve in December and Christian Morecraft last month at ‘Nogueira vs. Davis‘, Sean “Big Sexy” McCorkle has been released by the UFC, according to FiveOuncesofPain.

McCorkle’s path to the UFC was completely unprecedented. Before getting called up to the big show, the Indianapolis-based fighter was 9-0 as a superheavyweight, and had never competed at 265 pounds. But his “Internet fame” as an outrageous poster on the Underground Forum helped put him on the UFC’s radar, and he was signed for the opening bout at UFC 119 in his hometown. McCorkle did a few brilliant pre-fight interviews and went on to submit PRIDE/K-1 legend Mark Hunt in just 63 seconds. Unfortunately, it would be the last time he’d find success in the Octagon.

McCorkle has not yet released a statement on the UG, and his last tweet was something unrelated about McDonald’s, early this morning. We wish Big Sexy all the best in his future endeavors…

its weird what we judge is wrong or right. people do years of their life in prison for a couple hundred dollars same thing with fighters. They get in a fight (natual instinct) they try to put you in prison

Loved to see his interviews, but after that Morecraft fight it was pretty obvious that he was done

@Aussiejosh: he'll get murdered in strikeforce, given the quality of their heavy weights.

We'll see him somewhere else again. Needs some serious stand up work and he can get that out there. There are plenty of interesting fights for him out there.....Butterbean, Pudjinowski, Mighty Mo, Ray Mercer.

See you again soon Sean, it was fun while it lasted.

That's what happens when you pad your record with a bunch of mid-west fatties... you aren't prepared for someone that can make the walk out without getting winded.

Well Strikeforce might pick him up?......

That sucks, that guy was hilarious.

He was entertaining during his short stint in the big leagues. Even if he wasn't the most deserving, he put on some good fights against Hunt and Struve.

I am not familiar with how fights are set up for those regional events, does the fighter have any input on who he fights?
Waxedpants- April 8, 2011 at 2:29 pm
Well that's no surprise.

Ain't so tough without your keyboard in front of you, are ya now?

I dont know how he made it into the UFC. GO and checkout his opponents fight records. All are below .500, except 1. So that 9-0 is pretty lame fighting guys who are 0-1, 1-3, 6-6, 6-18, 29-44. Talking about pading your record, and not challenging yourself. He can talk some pretty good shit, and is good at being the school yard bully
