Anderson Silva Suffers *Another* Injury and Is Unsure When He’ll Return

(Unfortunately, rehab for”The Spider” consisted mainly of wearing a Power Balance bracelet and eating Whoppers.)

It looks like Anderson Silva is not nearly as bionic as we thought.

TATAME is reporting that the UFC middleweight champ has sustained *another* injury and his return to training and competition will likely be pushed back as a result, meaning the winner of the UFC on Fox 2 bout on January 28 between Chael Sonnen and Mark Munoz may have to wait a while before getting a title shot.

Silva revealed during an appearance on a Brazilian television show that in addition to his damaged shoulder, he is also nursing a back injury that occurred recently.

“I’m not sure when I’ll come back to fight because I’m still with a shoulder injury,” he explained. “Another injury arose recently on my lower back, so I’m getting treatment.”

So the question is, should the number one contender wait for the fight or should the UFC do what they are doing with the welterweight division and introduce an interim title?

Keep in mind, the last time a champ suffered a major shoulder injury, he was out nearly a year recovering from surgery.

What say you, Potato Nation?

Sprained vag, maybe? How many ppl complained when Valasquez sat out a year? Sonnen v. Bisping would awesome, just think of the shit talking between those 2, plus Bisping losing is always awesome.
CrushCo- January 13, 2012 at 1:16 pm
He's not injured. He's just holding out for "Lyoto Machida Money".
XENOPHON- January 13, 2012 at 1:16 pm
@JPAZ of ATX - thought the AS taunt of DM was the best. That fight is the very proof that demonstrates who weak many of the fighters are who get into the UFC.
There is much hope Karma, your bubble gum video of your last fight provided more action than Damian Maia in Abu Dhabi for 5 rounds during the UFC Middleweight Championship.
And that is the truth!

Lower Back Injury?
Must be the new "tramp stamp" tattoo that reads "Chael's Bitch"
Sho Nuff- January 13, 2012 at 1:09 pm
This comment thread is full of win, except the tl;dr above.

Make Munoz/Chael an interim title fight, call it done. Then Silva has to come back and fight for his own title.

XENOPHON- January 13, 2012 at 1:08 pm
@HARJO = Fuck these CP guys. They copy press from others, but when they re-post it they either make mistakes or use their many alias user names to jump down throats of anyone who disagrees or talks shit. The out come is all the others jump on-board to talk shit.
You read it like me. They should have included the Welter Weight's champions name for clarity. Come over to the dark side. When so many jump your ass so fast, it must be because the force is strong with you. They sense Danger (and in this case, its not Danga who is fucked up).

Fuck Anderson Silva! There is no doubt that Silva is one of the best fighters and arguably the best fighter in all MMA, he demands respect in the ring and I personally respect his talents but when you decide to taunt people and disrespect them in the ring like he does, that's a whole different level.... He's a very poor role model for up and coming fighters who see this disrespect that he shows others in the ring. Yes, he can simply dominate fights and fighters, but ask yourself if it's necessary to act like he does? No! Next, ask yourself if you trained your own children to become an MMA fighter (or for any sport) would you teach your kid to disrespect others while their facing defeat? If you answer that yes, than your don't deserve to be a parent and most likely you are exactly part of the problem and definitely not the solution.

I love to watch Anderson Silva fight, he's beyond good, he's great but dump that attitude before someone dumps your ass! You got your ass beat by Sonnen and will again. The good thing and the one of the most attractive things for MMA is that a fighter can get his ass handed to him, like Anderson Silva did against Sonnen, but then turn the fight around in one arm bar...kudos to Silva...but you still can be an asshole and obviously have no respect for yourself and fellow fighters and that is shown by your actions in the ring.

He mind as well just retired. The last thing I want to happen is him fight Sonnen and lose and then blame it on being injured.
HandsofGold- January 13, 2012 at 12:26 pm

Good shit lmfao
HandsofGold- January 13, 2012 at 12:25 pm
Sonnen will beat munoz, then fight winner of Bisp/Maia, there is no way in hell Bisping ever beats Chael. Chael gets the interim belt and allows Silva the right to fight "HIM" lmao WAR CHAEL BITCHES
GenZod- January 13, 2012 at 12:24 pm
This article makes no sense to Chael. Surely he won't understand how a man with no spine can injure his back...
PHISTAKUPHS- January 13, 2012 at 12:20 pm
Of course he won't recover as fast as a juicing sore loser like fail sonnen. Those of us with normal functioning testes usually try to heal naturally.
Mike Russell- January 13, 2012 at 12:16 pm
Dana said at the UFC on Fox presser that the winner of Munoz-Sonnen gets the next crack at Silva.
Fried Taco- January 13, 2012 at 12:16 pm
@Yazloz18 - maybe DW knew that Silva would be out with an "injury" for awhile, and the winner of Sonnen/Munoz will fight the winner of Bisping/Maia for the interim belt. Which is scary when thinking about it, because then Bisping actually has a chance to win the belt. A very remote, outside chance, but there is a chance. Like if he beats Maia by stuffing all his takedowns, and Munoz triangles Sonnen in the last round, and then Munoz and Bisping fight for the interim title in England in front of British judges and they give Bisping the decision even though everyone in the world thought Munoz won the fight.
intercept440- January 13, 2012 at 12:15 pm
he got his back injury when he was humping that beiber girl

The caption should be: The soccer ball is fist-posing too, in spirit.
knucklesamitch- January 13, 2012 at 12:11 pm
Let's just assume Sonnen is going to beat Munoz, and with that, that's just go ahead and call it an interim title fight. Works out perfectly as long as Munoz doesn't win.
Yazloz18- January 13, 2012 at 12:10 pm
I'm confused. The logical #1 contender fight is Chael/Munoz but Dana has said that Bisping/Maia is a #1 contender fight. Both are on the same card.
Joedirt- January 13, 2012 at 11:56 am
Sonnen is the real champ anyway.
thebrodstar- January 13, 2012 at 11:55 am
@harjo, the only time they mention WW is when they ask should the UFC do what they are doing in the Welter Weight Division.
Mike Russell- January 13, 2012 at 11:54 am
@HARJO: I was going to make the same comment about the rookie readers making comments that make no sense.

The article says "should the UFC do what they are doing with the welterweight division and introduce an interim title?" How did you get that we were referring to Anderson as being the welterweight champ from that?
