W/ all due respect to Chuck, I think he will get mauled in this fight. Yes, he is a great fighter but I think his last few fights have clearly shown his weaknesses and Anderson won't play the Cote bullsh*t game and screw around. Anderson is extremely skilled & dangerous in all aspects, and Chuck seems to have problems w/ guys who use Muay Thai/leg kicks like Jardine and definitely Silva. Rashad was more speed than anything else, which Anderson has as well.

Anderson Silva should be used to fight the toughest, most exciting fights he can have, not one w/ Chuck just to get large numbers & please the UK fans b/c Chuck got hurt and had to pull out of the last UK card. Silva should fighting people like Machida, who is pretty much equal to him in skills & style, or even Forrest who would bring a standing and ground game, or Rashad depending on the outcome w/ Forrest. Or let Silva fight GSP after the Penn fight, b/c win or lose for GSP, that would also be a great stylistic matchup. And right now, Bisping is knocking on the MW door and even Maia. Let Anderson fight guys who will test his mettle; & it's not that Chuck couldn't knock him out, it's the liklihood of it happening due to his recent showings or lack thereof and Anderson's true all around game outclassing Chucks's, mostly due to Chuck having forgone using his ground and kickboxing skills for quite some time now. He shouldn't start testing them out on again on someone like Silva.

This could prove to really mess things up with the matchmaking. Let's say Silva win this match and Rashad pulls out the miracle against Forest. There aren't really any other middleweights that can claim they have the credentials to fight Silva. Silva's next fight would have to be at LHW again for fear of having another awful fight that fans don't want to see. So in that case it could potentially put Silva right at the top of the LHW food chain against-hypothetically-Rashad because there really wouldn't be any other LHW's that could say they deserve a shot at the title, unless Dana wants another promotional moment and sticks Couture in there. This fight could generally mess everything up, especially the career of Chuck Liddell.

if you have a size disadvantage and want to win against Lesnar, you need both speed (to get in and hit first) and power so that those first few shots you land do the damage needed.

There wouldn't be a big size differential. From what I understand, Anderson Silva walks around between 215-220. The dude is able to adapt his diet to hang out around the 195-200 mark and then cuts water weight and whatever else to make 185. He's a big middleweight. Size would not be much of a factor like say in Couture-Lesnar.

I think that this fight makes for a very interesting match up, although, win or lose, this could very well be the last time we see Chuck in the octagon. Chuck is coming off of a big knock out loss but you have to give the man respect where respect is due with what he has accomplished. I'm hoping for Chuck to do the impossible and knock Anderson Silva out cold.

In regards to the Fedor war, I agree with mayhem420...Fedor hasn't fought any legitimate names in years, and he's over rated. Fedor just got OWNED in a sambo match by someone you have most likely never even heard of this past weekend. If he can destroy Arlovski, then you might have a little bit to talk about, but I doubt that will happen.

There's no point in Silva fighting at 205 anyway, he won't fight for the belt cause he doesn't want to get matched against Machida, which is certainly a possibility if he should choose to eradicate Rashad Evans or Forrest Griffin.

Obviously cant put Anderson in with any LHW that is a "contender" (ie. Rashad, Rampage, whoever etc.). Wouldnt look good for one of them to lose to Silva and then have them challenge Forrest (or whoever) for the LHW belt. I am a huge Chucky fan but this is no bueno. Chuck for sure has the advantage in the pure knockout ability. Thats where it ends though. Anderson might not be as hard a puncher but he is a better puncher by far. And he is also so illusive, i can't imagine Chuck even getting the chance to do any damage. Silva is the best fighter pound for pound for a reason and this isn't a big enough test at 205. It hurts me to even say that. Put him in against forrest(hah!), rampage or rashad.....now thats a fight. Mark my words now CG...if this goes down. Silva by ref stoppage 2:20 into the second. I expect a shirt in late february. I would actually hang this as Liddell having a punchers chance. We all know how well Irvine did with his punchers chance and while Liddell is far better Evans showed that his technique has flaws and Silva has never been troubled by strikers. Go Silva

I couldn't agree more. But beating Anderson is a tall order especialy in brutal Liddell fashion, so if it does become reality lets just hope it is as exciting as the fight with wanderlei win or lose.

First, as a huge Liddell fan, I want to see him win. But more important, I want to see him get pumped up for a fight. And this is the fight that could do it for him. Look at the difference from when he fought Wanderlei Silva and his fight with Rashad. He never cared about fighting Rashad as much as Rashad cared about fighting him. Same when he fought Jardine. Then he came back against Wanderlei and you saw him come back like the hungry Liddell who beat Couture, Ortiz, Belfort, Babalu and other highly respected fighters. And that is the motivation that Chuck needs to capture a much needed victory over the most technical mixed martial artist in the world. Odds are against him, but I want to see that Liddell one more time before he retires.

If this fight happens we're all going to have to chip in for Chuck's gold watch.
