Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

Anderson Silva Will Face Michael Bisping Before Chris Weidman, As World Continues Spiral Into Insanity [VIDEO]

(Props: AXS TV Fights)

It’s time to admit to ourselves, once and for all, that Anderson Silva isn’t the kind of champion we’d like him to be. After thoroughly conquering the middleweight division, fans assumed that the logical next step for the Greatest UFC Fighter of All Time would be to take more competitive matches against the elite in the light-heavyweight division. Of course, that’s not happening. Silva clearly has an agenda in the final stage of his career, and it doesn’t involve fighting non-superstars, or 205-pound phenoms who actually have a chance of beating him.

As Silva’s manager Ed Soares reiterates in this clip from Inside MMA, Anderson wants to fight UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre next, at a suggested catchweight of 177.5. And after that…well…Michael Bisping, maybe? The idea that Anderson Silva would fight Jon Jones is immediately dismissed by Soares, and the name Chris Weidman — remember him? the UFC’s actual #1 middleweight contender? — isn’t even mentioned.

Over the weekend, we explained how Michael Bisping’s latest demands for a title shot are, shall we say, a little premature, considering his current one-fight win streak. But we’ve clearly arrived at a new moment in the UFC, where “deserve” ain’t got nothin’ to do with it, and the biggest criteria for booking title fights is short-term profitability.

Bisping is a well-known heel who will obviously create more heat than a soft-spoken up-and-comer. The Count might get his title shot after one more win, or he might get his title shot without one more win, but as long as the Silva camp continues to select opponents with no regard to who’s next in line or what the fans actually want to see, I think we can all start calling Michael Bisping the UFC’s #1 middleweight contender, especially since phrases like “UFC #1 contender” don’t mean shit anymore. God help us.

arthurskywalker- October 24, 2012 at 6:48 pm
Weidman has so many chances to beat Silva than Charlote Bobcats has to win 10 rings in a role in NBA.
Mr_Misanthropy- October 24, 2012 at 4:28 pm
Maybe we can convince Silva to try his hand at heavyweight for shits and giggles. At least that would be fresh and exciting. Silva vs. Stefan Struve or Silva vs. "Hapalong" Browne?

Besides, it was DW who said to some twitter dude that he could go suck his 17 followers dick.

Take it to DW if you disagree.

Give Silva GSP and then after that try Jones vs Silva @ 195lbs. Then tell everyone at 185 there will not be a title until 2014......makes no sense to me either. If Anderson wants to fight outside his weight class then make him give up his belt and when he decides to come back to the division he can have a title shot. It seems there were a helluva lot more title fights back when there were only 5 divisions in the UFC. With 8 divisions there should be 20 or more title fights a year.
darciesdaddy- October 24, 2012 at 9:06 pm
I was thinking the same thing. It seems like there used to be a title on the line in the main event at pretty much every PPV.
holeeball- October 24, 2012 at 3:35 pm
Maybe if Weidman created some sort of hype for the fight, maybe.
Other than some MMA commentators and some vocal fans no one in the world seems to know who the fuck Weidman is nor anyone gives a fuck who he is.

Maybe he should consult with Sonnen. Silva is retiring he doesn't have time for nonsense.
Mr_Misanthropy- October 24, 2012 at 3:30 pm
Welcome to the future where number of twatter followers = contender status.

Bisping won't make it out of the first two minutes of this fight.
apogee- October 24, 2012 at 2:59 pm
please tell me what chris weidman has done to deserve a title shot at 185. name 1 top 5 dude that he beat

I love that, though I know it as an absolute fact that Smellypiratehooker is a huge Anderson Silva fan, even he's mad about this stupid bullshit. It's really mostly just pissing into the wind these days, guys. Let's all just be sad that he's going to waste his few remaining fights on easy wins that will excite average UFC fans, but anger educated ones. It's like waiting for Johnny to come marching home from The Great War. He's not. Let's just let him go and move on.
@ArmFarmer I totally imagined what you wrote him saying in his weird high-pitched squealy voice. Hilarious, sir.
ArmFarmer- October 24, 2012 at 1:46 pm
lol @ machineboi.. in what dimension has anyone ever been begging for silva vs bisping?? The only logical explanation for anyone to say that is that they really really hate bisping.. ok so maybe not so far fetched. You are kind of an idiot though for that stupid rant. How dare us dislike fighters that horribly disrespect their opponents, insult the fans, and cherry pick easy wins while being regarded as the best pfp ever. Silly us.
ArmFarmer- October 24, 2012 at 1:37 pm
I'd love to see these conversations with Silva take place.. "Anderson, Wiedman is the number 1 middlewieght contender, he's on an impressive win streak, we need you to defend your title against him" "hmmm no.. he no deserve.. i do not like dis fight, he need to earn fight" "Ok... stephan bonnar?" "ok I take dis fight, is good fight for.. for.. is good fight, yes"
El Guapo- October 24, 2012 at 12:18 pm
Silva vs Bisping?
Wait, he's serious?
holeeball- October 24, 2012 at 10:57 am
Silva will fight GSP and break him it two. About knee height.
The12ozCurls- October 24, 2012 at 10:45 am
I want to fight Ed Soares.
The guy always comes off like a dick IMO.
ultimateflightingchampion- October 24, 2012 at 9:22 am
Okay, Silva fights GSP. Silva fights Bisping. Retires before or after he does or does not fight Jones. Middleweight tourney to decide who's the new champ, order is restored to the universe.
MorningwoodII- October 24, 2012 at 9:07 am
To me Jone's is the only real competition for Silva. For now, I'd like to see Bisping get KTFO by Silva. But, that's because of Bisping's heel character. There's no real dislike for GSP to see him get smashed by Silva at a catch weight. GSP is a very good fighter, but he's not a dynamic fighter like Jone's and Silva. So, I don't think it would be exciting, it would just be another fight and I don't think Silva really gains much by fighting GSP. He'll still be thought of as ducking real competition. Which is too bad as I think he'd beat Jones.
smellypiratehooker- October 24, 2012 at 8:59 am
The differance Machineboi, you son of a bitch, is that Silva is fighting competition that stands no chance of beating him and GSP is fighting guys that are not only bigger than him, but stand a chance of beating him. Now should Silva be penilized for being so fucking good that his opponents look like amateurs? No, but when you call out guys that are much smaller than you(and I don't give a fuck if he cuts down to 177.5, he's still way fucking bigger)ya look like a unclassy bully, looking for easy wins.

Unlike some people around here, I do think that Weidman has a chance to win. And what does he say when that is brought up? undeserving... and Bisping is?? with his extensive resume of top competition. No, it's that he knows that Bisping stands little to no chance of beating him and will most likely be part of his highlight reel.

Now if he doesn't want to fight Jones then I'm not going to call him a coward for that. The man is much bigger than him and is in larger weight-class. But when you say that you don't want to defend your title because you are looking for superfights and proceed to call out a smaller champion, then in the same sentence say you are unwilling to fight a more competitive larger champ, a champ that many people are practically begging you to fight, which ultimately translates to ticket sales and money for you, along with laying the crown jewel on that illustrious career of his, that is what I have trouble understanding.
dojistyle- October 24, 2012 at 10:04 am
Agreed, go beat Weidman first, then retire with Bones Jones. If you beat both then you solidify your title as P4P greatest. Fight Bisping and GSP adds no value to that.
Fried Taco- October 24, 2012 at 8:14 am
I'd like to see Silva beat the piss out of Bisping. I think he should beat everyone at MW and then retire. Screw LHW.
Onan- October 24, 2012 at 8:01 am
"who's next in line"

Huh? Since when is there a line in the UFC? Chael Sonnen, Frankie Edgar, Faber, et al obliterated the idea of this so-called line a long time ago. Let it go.
Machineboi- October 24, 2012 at 7:58 am
NO matter what silva does you fags will post articles trying to tear him down in every way. AT the same time you put GSP on fucking pedestal and he hasn't done shit or even finished any of his recent fights IN HIS OWN weight class. People been saying for years they want to see this fight,so now all of a sudden this news to you??Silva can win another 20 matches in both weight classes and you dumb fucks will still say he isnt this or that ....Sonnen can win 2 out of 3 fights and now he is the new poster boy for MMA GTFO
dojistyle- October 24, 2012 at 10:02 am
That's the whole point here you mongol. No one thinks GSP is a P4P contender in relation to Silva. Bones has way more hype and a real chance at Silva, so that's what fans want to see. Moron.
