Now that Lyoto Machida has established himself atop one of the most competitive divisions in mixed martial arts, MMA enthusiasts are dying know exactly how the soft-spoken karateka is managing to kick everyone’s ass. And now the Dragon is generously revealing his secrets in a new DVD set from Victory Belt Publishing. Over four DVDs, Machida covers his stance and footwork, attacks and counter-attacks, takedowns and footsweeps (obviously), and his ground game. Want it? Well, feel free to buy it. Or, be one of the two winners of a new UFC pick-off contest that we’re holding over the next five weeks…
That’s right, Victory Belt has given us two copies of the DVD set to give to our readers. They will be awarded to 1) the person who can most correctly predict the outcomes of UFC 99 and the TUF 9 Finale, and 2) the person who can most correctly predict the outcome of UFC 100. To recap the scoring system:
You get one point for correctly picking the winner of a matchup. If you got that right, give yourself an additional point for correctly picking the method of victory (submission, T/KO, or decision), and/or the round in which the fight ends. So, you can score a possible three points for every matchup. Please put your picks in this format:
- Paul Kelly def. Rolando Delgado via T/KO, R2
So, step one: Spend some time crafting your picks for UFC 99. When you’re ready, go to this thread in the CagePotato forums and post ‘em. (If you’re not already a member, register here.) Entries must be in by this Friday at midnight PT. Please double-check your work before posting, because all edited posts will be disqualified to eliminate confusion.
Other rules: Only U.S. residents will be allowed to enter (sorry foreigners). You are responsible for counting up your own scores after each event. Keep track of your total for UFC 99 so that you can add it to your score for the TUF 9 Finale show; we’ll post about that next week. Basically, there will be a thread later where you can post your total score if you think you might have won, and I’ll be verifying everything, but I’m not gonna do the counting for everybody.
If you have any questions, put them in the comments section of this post and I’ll try to answer them. Please, do not post your picks in the comments section; do it here. Got it? Let’s run this!

CP doesn’t celebrate Canada appreciation day sorry.
