For a long time, many fans have felt that Anthony Johnson was too big to be playing around in the welterweight jungle. But now they get their wish and he is making the jump to the middleweight division to face ‘The Phenom’ Vitor Belfort at UFC 142, January 14th in Rio. “I still want to fight at 170,” said Johnson “but I’m excited about making the jump to 185 and we’ll see what happens after this fight is over.”

In a way, this opportunity to fight the legendary Vitor Belfort is coming full circle for Anthony Johnson. The two first met after Anthony’s very first professional Mixed Martial Arts bout back in 2006. “I knocked out my opponent in one minute and nine seconds. Vitor happened to be in the crowd, Shogun Rua was too. After the fight, Vitor gave me props and shook my hand. I never thought I’d be fighting a man who I shook hands with many years ago. I’m a fan of Vitor Belfort and always will be. It’s going to be fun fighting him.”

@Xenophon - You never fail to crack me up. You do realize that CP was having a contest for "Free CagePotato" t-shirts at that time, right? I'm pretty sure it was that one and my "bag of dicks" tweet that won me the shirt. And, since @EFB took care of the leg-work (thanks @EFB), I assume you now realize that comparison was less "B-League" and more "spot on".
Now I'm off to bed. All the free Veterans Day beers I had made me a bit drowsy. Feel free to follow me on twitter to keep up with all my "B-League" tweets!

@El Famous Burrito
. on, Cabbage Patch it is~!
XENOPHON- November 11, 2011 at 8:51 pm
Get real, no one ever thought that Brenneman was a one but the UFC hype team - spinning that shit like Grand Master Flash.
@ italia furia - I haven't seen all Johnson's fights, but he never impressed me either with what I witnessed. He is a good fighter, but doesn't leave many lasting impressions.
@ J. Spaceman - most could care less if the negroe stepped out of the hood, or used to be a the token black on Beverly Hills Cop. Trying to play off the Cabbage Patch Kids is "B-League".
AND..WTF are you doing kissing Dana Whites taint?

@Jay_Spaceman Jason
@danawhite It's not like you have to let them in The Smasher Group, just let them into the Fan Expo #freecagepotato

You keep that up Jason, and your gonna get bounced from the "B-Leagues" and end up with a D- I know you don't want that one.
@ skeletor - "training with Karma..." funny. I wonder how Karma training is coming along....why not do a special on his training methods, and techniques CP?
@CP - how come you fuckers never write articles on anything the others pricks around recommend?

I think Humble takes this on by TKO or decision, If Vitor don't get ya early he don't get ya at all.
skeletor- November 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm
Damn Italia you are sensitive as shit. Do you train with Karma?
El Famous Burrito- November 11, 2011 at 11:37 am
Damn, J. Spaceman, I think you're right!
The12ozCurls- November 11, 2011 at 11:21 am
Damn, Warren Sapp looks really f%#king fat in that picture.
J. Spaceman- November 11, 2011 at 11:15 am
@EFB, I'm thinking grown up Cabbage Patch Kid. You know, that one black one they made in the 80's. He's done well for himself.
El Famous Burrito- November 11, 2011 at 11:04 am
He's starting to look like the kid from Good Burger.

The problem is Rumble will feel since he's "only" cutting to 185 he should blow up to 240 between fights...
TheWarsawExpress- November 11, 2011 at 10:33 am
I don't think Rumble will ever be a threat to the 170 or 185 title but he is definitely UFC quality. It will be interesting to see what he is like when he doesn't have to cut so much weight.

This fight will be a good way to test AnJo's ability to take several punches to the back of the skull.
italia furia- November 11, 2011 at 10:08 am
leave me the f--- alone. I don't say two words to you when you make your asinine comments on nearly every story. No, I didn't have a dog in the Rumble/Brenneman fight, because I didn't see either as long-term threats to anyone w/ exception of fighters working their way up the ladder, but def not as a contender/title challenger.
Christ, because I don't like someone AUTOMATICALLY means I must be some MMA newbie retard. get a f---ing life.
skeletor- November 11, 2011 at 10:00 am
@italia furia -Really? I'm sure you were one of the people who thought Brenneman was actually contender.
RwilsonR- November 11, 2011 at 9:01 am
Anthony Johnson is just excited to only have to cut 40lbs for this fight.
italia furia- November 11, 2011 at 8:34 am
really hope vitor comes forward and sends him back to 170...just really don't believe he belongs in the UFC, just an opinion.
