Antonio Silva vs. Fabricio Werdum Booked for Strikeforce CBS Event on 11/7

(As you can see, Antonio’s head is roughly the size of Fabricio’s torso.)

According to a report on MMA Junkie, bout agreements have been finalized for heavyweights Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva and Fabricio Werdum to face each other on the main card of Strikeforce’s "Fedor vs. Rogers" event on November 7th. With Alistair Overeem pissing his career away in Holland, the Silva/Werdum matchup would logically produce the next opponent for the winner of the night’s main event.

Silva has gone 2-0 in Sengoku since catching a one-year steroid suspension from the California State Athletic Commission following his victory over Justin Eilers at EliteXC: Unfinished Business. Werdum made his Strikeforce debut in August with a quick submission win over Mike Kyle; two weeks ago, he swept the heavyweight division at the 2009 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship. With the addition of this bout, the Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers main card looks like this…

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers (HW)
Jason "Mayhem" Miller vs. Jake Shields (for vacant Strikeforce middleweight title)
– Antonio Silva vs. Fabricio Werdum (HW)
Gegard Mousasi vs. TBA*

* Contradicting earlier reports, Strikeforce exec Mike Afromowitz told MMA Junkie, that Mousasi won’t be defending his belt in his next fight, which implies that Strikeforce is having trouble finding him a legitimate opponent. Rumors of Mousasi taking on King Mo at the event are apparently unfounded. UPDATE: MMA Fanhouse says it’s looking like Sokoudjou.

Dear StrikeForce,

Mousasi vs. Sokoujou. Why?

That is all.

Sherdog says that Mousasi and Sokoujou are on for this card.

Fedor-Rogers
Werdum-Silva
Mousasi-Sokoujou
Shields-Miller

This is shaping up to be a nice card...

This is beyond doubt an awesome card, but I agree with SteamPunk. Once this card is over, what are they going to do next?
Affliction did this with their famous "Who's Fedor Fighting?" parts 1,2, and 3 fell apart. You can't build a promotion around a couple of guys and have them fight on every one of your cards. Its not good for the guy's health, and you are putting your "jackpot" at risk, becuase the more he fights the more likely he will get caught.
These guys need to spread their big names out a little better, rather than putting them all on one card in an attempt to get through the roof ratings one time.

Thatsozay your a moron if you actually think "the Grim" will beat "The Last Emperor".
Fedor has far too much experience, and has way too many tools for Brett to even come close to beating him.
If anything this is Fedor's coming out party with Strikeforce & he'll put on another dominating performance just like he did at Affliction I & II.

War Fedor Emelianenko!

This is a good card for Strikeforce. The only real problem is that is the ONLY card for Strikeforce.

After these guys fight, there aint much left in the roster except the same fighters jumbled around. Sticking Mousasi with a exhibition match or some catchweight garbage would be pretty fucking sad but inline with Strikeforces promo style.

This is a good card though, they're making the best of what they've got. I just think they will realize pretty quick that this is ALL they have. Considering they had originally planned to have Santos fight too, fuck, talk about all your eggs in one basket. If Dana White could blow up the arena on the night of November 7th, he could literally put strikeforce out of business right then and there.

Antonio "Big Face" Silva should just have his head measured rather than pissing in a cup. I can't see him passing this drug test, so Werdum has nothing to worry about.

it's like christmas came early this card is awesome and Free. i'd like to see Diaz too cut into some ridiculous CSI episode and have five or six fights. Will the rest of the card be on showtime?
ArmFarmer- October 9, 2009 at 8:14 am
The distance from Silva's eyes to the top of his forehead is like 1/4 of the distance from his eyes to his chin.. he looks deformed.

@Sakuraba3900
You're just now realizing that MTV is complete garbage? lol

FACT: This is not a beauty contest.
FACT: Good news for Antonio.

Nice addition to the card. Even though he's a juice using freak of nature, I enjoy watching Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva fight.

I especially love the footprint tattoo on his back. God only knows how many beers he drank the night he got that tat, but I digress...

I'd love to see them get Diaz on this card, but I have a feeling he may be in the doghouse with Coker right now.
Sakuraba 3900- October 9, 2009 at 8:04 am
Looks like its gonna be a pretty damn good card.

I really hope that Rogers doesnt land any of those ridiculous haymakers.

Has anyone noticed how terrible MTV is? Fucking total garbage.

Gegard aint fightin' Paulo Filho.

MMAJunkie is reporting that he's signed to fight Yoon Dong Sik at Sengoku.11, which I think is about a week and a half before the Strikefore card.

I love the strategy of getting a steroid suspension and saying fuck it I'll fight in Japan until its over.
