Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

Apparently Melendez Will Have to Get Past Masvidal in Dec. Before Heading to the UFC

Gilbert Melendez” src=”” alt=” width=”500″ height=”333″ />
(Gilbert is just going through the motions until he gets to the Octagon.)

Zuffa announced today that tickets for its planned December 17 Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal event will go on sale next week, meaning Gilbert Melendez likely won’t be heading to the Octagon¬†as planned until at least 2012 if all goes well.

It makes sense that they would have the San Francisco-based fighter headline the event, which will take place in San Diego at the Valley View Casino Center, but the question is, who will UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar fight in the meantime? Since “El Nino” likely won’t be ready to go again until at least February, it’s unlikely that the UFC will keep “The Answer” on the shelf for five months.

The card will also include a women’s featherweight championship bout between Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos and Hiroko Yamanaka, KJ Noons against a yet-to-be-named opponent, as well as the return of Gina Carano.

Masvidal will win this fight via TKO. And then we can finally stop this "Gilbert-Melendez-Is-#2-In-The-World-Even-Though-The-Only-UFC-Guy-He-Beat-Is-Clay-Guida-5-Years-Ago-When-He-Was-Way-Less-Skilled" nonsense. The absolute most overrated fighter in the game.

Masvidal is no slouch. It should be a good fight, and will add credibility to Melendez once he is allowed to migrate from the B leagues, to the A leagues...

Not trying to sound like a UFC nuthugger here (Melendez is one of my favorite fighters), but Melendez has not be tested in some time. don't want to here Aoki he's a one trick pony and doesn't have the power, weight, or wrestling to take down Melendez. Melendez outclassed Kawajiri years ago, and that rematch was a joke. The Thompson rematch made sense but Thompson again wasn't much of a test. Masvidal is the first guy who actually presents a minor challenge. If Guida lay and prays to another decision win I'd love to see a rematch for number 1 contender.

Kid Clam Curtains >> i dunno. Masvidal is fun to watch and all, but i'm pretty sure Melendez will smash him.

That's a waste of time. Get Melendez where he belongs already...

Also, how ruined would your trousers be if you saw Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey in a weigh in stare down... let alone in each other's guard?

I was going to say Frankie against Cyborg, but she's fighting on this card, too.
