Australia Athletic Commission Won’t Allow Filho to Fight on Both Impact FC Cards

(Ironically, this is the most non-crazy tattoo Paulo has.)

Realizing that chronically unreliable personal demon chaser Paulo Filho will do well to make it to one of his scheduled July Impact Fighting Championship bouts, the Australia Athletic Commission has disallowed the Brazilian from competing on both the July 10 and July 18 cards as planned.

Graciemag announced the news we have all been predicting today.

Filho (20-1), who was originally also slated to fight at Impact FC’s scrapped July 3 event in Perth, takes on K-1 Heroes, PRIDE and UFC veteran Denis Kang (32-12-1, 2 NC) on July 18 in Sydney if he makes it to the show.

The embattled former WEC middleweight champion has pulled out of two scheduled bouts in the past four months, which makes his participation in the event questionable.

His opponent for the July 10 event, John Kolosci has been dropped from the card, which has changed considerably since the original line-up was announced. It could have something to do with the reliability of the fighters the promotion is banking on for the shows.

According to the Impact FC website, Karo Parisyan‘s (18-5, 1 NC) opponent has also changed. Originally scheduled to take on Luis Dutra Jr., "The Heat" will now face 5-1 Australia native Ben "Knuckles 5-Percenter" Mortimer on the card.

I’d have tried to draft in War Machine but would he even be allowed to travel? He may be a complete nob of a person, but I always enjoy watching his fights.

@ytrebil, at first i was just gonna be a smart ass and say , uh yeah, its just you, then I actually had a proper look at the card, I think your key words are "looks like a really entertaining card" If the guys show up prepared and take these cards seriously, your right, this could be a great night of fights, Lets hope it delivers value for money

@ Dick_goesanywhere, The Dept of native animals with ridiculous names is on the job. Leave it in our more than capable pouches.

@imabigfan, Its an Australian thing, you wouldn't understand
Naw, just shittin ya, I have no fucken idea " Knuckles 5 percenter" all I can come up with is maybe he's only got one finger, so only 5% of his knuckles? I dont know
fatbellyfrank- July 7, 2010 at 3:46 pm
And I have to say, I'm not in the slightest bit surprised by this latest development, as I mentioned in earlier threads on this subject dont be surprised to see a lot more local fighters bought on to this card, as Athletic commissions and Immigration dept whittle down the talent.

No, Filho will still be fighting the Kangaroo, this will be an unsanctioned bout held in the carpark of the Sydney Opera House
Dick_Gozenya- July 7, 2010 at 2:53 pm
Does this mean we won't get to see Filho battle the kangaroo?
Omelette Platter- July 7, 2010 at 12:32 pm
is this the same aussie regulatory body that let cro-cop fight at ufc 110 with fresh stitches over his eye?

Wasn't exactly Babe Ruth calling his shot, but CP was right. Wonder if one of the cards gets scrapped entirely..

The trust must be told, they fear his talent.
