Bamma 6 Results & Videos: Watson vs. Ninja, Trigg vs. Phillips

(Tom Watson vs. Murilo Rua)

If you’re here to read about Murilo Rua running through Tom Watson to claim the Bamma Middleweight strap, have a seat, we need to talk. “Ninja” looked content to stand and bang with Watson early on, but he was clearly getting the worst of the exchanges. By round two, the damage from Watson’s leg kick assault showed in every step Rua took. From there the hobbled fighter served as target practice for “Kong”, whose time at Tristar and Greg Jackson’s has clearly paid off. To his credit Ninja never stopped fighting, at least not until that head kick from Watson put him out on his feet. Following the third round TKO loss, Rua took to twitter to thank his family and friends for their support and to announce his retirement from MMA.

(Frank Trigg vs. John Phillips)

Trigg wasted little time in getting “The White Mike Tyson” to the mat, securing a takedown just thirty seconds into their bout. From half guard, Trigg landed a big elbow and opened up a deep gash over Phillips’s left eye. Blood poured directly into Phillips’s eye and was clearly causing him trouble, but the ground and pound continued until the 2:20 mark, when the referee halted the action to have the cut checked out and cageside physicians called an end to the fight.

More openings than a gyno, a def classic, but I also liked how Trigg "set that guy's face on fire and put it out with an ax." That crazy bastard is fun as hell to listen to.

@frndly did you just say if you shower there is no need for deodourant?

Damn, I had forgotten what it was like before puberty. How's having undecended testicles working out?

Much respect for Ninja Rua. Anyone who takes a beating like that and still fights back is a warrior. But we already knew that about both the Rua brothers. Watson is definitely one to watch.

For all the trash talking Trigg likes to do he really seems like a decent guy once the fight is over. I'm happy to see him do well after the UFC cut him.

On a side note, after all the BS advertising breaks I know I'll never buy an axe product. If one simply takes a shower on a regular basis they have no need for that crap anyway.

@WK I guess that's true. I was going to say something snarky about how Rua spent some of 2011 as the LHW champ and how, yeah, that must've really sucked but . . . you're right, that Jones beat down really does put 2011 in the 'bad year' category, despite the strap.
WK- May 22, 2011 at 9:56 am
Not a good year for the Rua brothers.

Damn. Rua got worked. Props to him and his career though.

Also, did I hear the voice say something like "seeing more openings than a gynecologist"? . . . hahahahahahaha

Do you have a video of this Forearm Choke of Shame? Sounds like a hobby of mine once I get the house to myself.
