Remember when identifying yourself as a karate black belt used to mean something, back before MMA came along and changed all that and way back before Lyoto Machida came along and changed it again? Well, years from now we will look back on this moment from NBC’s "I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" and think to ourselves, ‘Now that was the exact moment when the public lost respect for the jiu-jitsu black belt.’
Yeah, that’s the same twirpy Spencer Pratt kid from the world’s worst MMA rap video, and now he’s on this celebreality show whose concept is still a mystery me, much like Spencer’s fame. Notice that he’s offering his jiu-jitsu bona fides in response to a question about whether his "ruck is wet," so he deserves the open mockery he receives.
Dude, when you’re getting laughed at by Stephen Baldwin, that’s when you know you’ve hit bottom. What a shame he had to take jiu-jitsu down with him. It’s thanks to jackasses like Spencer that Marcelo Garcia can’t even sound cool when he talks to chicks in bars anymore.

I trained there on a few occasions for different lengths of time, and I noticed that there is a very nonchalant attitude towards the training there. It only seems to rely on Rickson's "mystique" to keep the place running.
Otherwise the place just feel like a stable of dudes for Kron to pick apart, without there being any real technical training or sharing of knowledge. Also there are a lot of super aggro rich kids from the palisades and other wealthy neighborhoods in west la that act like total douches there.
And all of their guys (white/blue belts) just got destroyed at the World Championships today.
But, this is all a matter of personal opinion, and you may love the school.
No offense if you train there man, I just never liked it there, and am really a lot happier since I left.
Happy training man.
