Some one tell me why this weeks free bellator event wasn’t better than UFC 112. Please.

If the ref is asking you about your status, you’d better respond somehow. He didn’t. One of the refs responsibilities is to ensure the safety of the fighter(s) the best they can. As a ref, I wouldn’t have been as concerned with homie going to sleep as much as homie getting a crushed larynx or some shit.

Yeah, agreed — stoppage was a robbery. And it’s bunk to say Thomas was going to tap — the choke was a bit awkward and Thomas had only been in it for about a second when the ref stopped it. He could have spun out of it or wrenched himself free.

The dude closed his eyes and completely stopped moving. Even if he was saving up to rage out at just the right moment, it was a poor strategy.

Askren’s striking looks piss poor, but there is no denying his wrestling is phenomenal. He had that choke deep with plenty of time left, Thomas was going to tap/pass out eventually (not saying the stoppage wasn’t early).

Jimbo>> i saw dude’s eyes closed, but not rolled back. Either way, he looked pretty frisky when Askren released the hold. Like i said though, i’m not sure he would have gotten out anyway. Incidentally, not overly impressed with Ben “The next big thing” Askren so far. We’ll see.

And yeah, the head whip to the mat and follow-up punches were brutal. Ricci got knocked retarted.

And that KO punch Curran threw wasn’t as nasty as the next one with homeboy on the mat.

I saw the choke from a different angle on the replay, and homeboys eyes looked like they were rolled back in his head. Given how deep the choke was cinched, that he gave no response at all, (a thumbs up would’ve sufficed), I say it was an OK stoppage. Nay, a correct stoppage.

I like how during the announcements (for Imada) how they reminded us of that sick sub he had last fight.

They should do that for all fights, good or bad. I’d love to hear Chuck Liddell’s. Can anyone give me a good rendition???

Ben>> Does the “What the fuck are you doing?” rule apply in subs? If it does, that stoppage wasn’t controversial, it was straight up wrong.

I’m a little upset that Imada didn’t invent a new sub. Probably saving it for the semis.

And Wilson Heis is entertaining. Not very technical striking, but entertaining.

Ben Askren – Ryan Thomas was an early stoppage, but i’m not sure Thomas would have escaped the sub anyway.
