Bisping To Face Franklin/Henderson Winner on TUF 9

(They don’t call him “Handsome Dan” for nothing. Photo courtesy of CombatLifestyle.)

Sherdog has confirmed that Michael Bisping‘s next opponent — and his rival coach on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter — will be the winner of the Rich Franklin/Dan Henderson fight at UFC 93 (January 17th; Dublin, Ireland). TUF‘s “U.S. vs. U.K.” season will feature middleweights and welterweights, and is slated to premiere in April ’09.

Though a win against either Ace or Hendo could qualify Bisping for an immediate title shot against Anderson Silva (or Patrick Cote, LOL) — and wins against Franklin and Bisping could earn Henderson a rematch with the Spider — you have to wonder what’s in it for Rich Franklin. Let’s say he becomes the U.S. coach for TUF 9. He’ll have to drop back down to middleweight to fight Michael Bisping at the end of the season, but if he beats Bisping, it’s not like he’ll move any closer to a third middleweight title shot against Silva. He’ll just return to 205, with his standing in that division no higher than it was in the first place. Could it be that Ace just needs another Hummer to auction off?

Bisbing doesn't deserve to be a TUF coach yet. He hasn't fought anybody that good except Evans, lost to Evans, should have lost to Hamill. You would be better off having Franklin and Hendo as coaches

Bisping will get destroyed by Henderson/Silva and/or Franklin. He is just not ready for these elite fighters. He is great marketing for MMA in the UK, but he is simply not on this level yet. Let's be honest.

Hendo held the middle weight and light hw titles in pride so he obviously has no problem fighting at either weight and Franklin was trying to establish himself at 205. I believe that the Hendo/Franklin weight was determined before the whole Bisping fight came up.

from what i know....franklin and hendo are fighting at 205 which i think advantages franklin the bigger fighter even though i strongly beleive hendo will win..does ne one know why they are fighting at 205 and then jumping down to 185 to fight bisping..wouldnt it be sensible to fight them at 185 to see whos better at that weight class rather than 205...does ne one know ne thing behind that?

Yea, if Franklin comes out on top of this little tournament then he'll be in a very comfortable position. Much better than the uncertainty following his second loss to Anderson Silva.

A win against Hendo, being a winning TUF coach and defeating Britain's most popular fighter... not a terrible set of accomplishments.

Plus, after all that he can justifiably be placed as a 205 contender.

I don't agree. It's Team "British Teeth" Bisping vs Team "American Trailer Trash" Hendo.

Based on the photo, it looks like a Henderson win against Franklin would make his case as coach for the U.K. team.

There may be no title shot in it for Franklin, but there are two high-profile fights and the possibility of a four-fight winning streak that will set up even bigger fights at 205.

Bisping can't take Hendo and my money is on Henderson over Franklin (not selling franklin short but Henderson is a tough motha').

Frankling gets to keep going to the Octagon against mid to high level opponents and keeps getting paid for it and hell he could get the title back in 18 months when Silva retires ;)
