BJ Penn Likely to Return in November

BJ Penn‘s post-UFC 118 layoff won’t be a long one. After getting the business end of a five-round shutout at the hands of Frankie Edgar, Penn expects to return to the Octagon "in November sometime," against an opponent he’s not ready to name yet. But you can tell he’s excited about the matchup by the way his chair-rocking gradually increases in speed.

"November" could mean UFC 122: Belfort vs. Okami (11/13; Oberhausen, Germany) or UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida (11/20; Auburn Hills, Michigan), both of which lack strong co-main events at this point. We’re still holding out hope that Penn gets his rematch with Takanori Gomi, even though Clay Guida‘s recent tweets seem to hint at a Guida vs. Gomi meeting. In the words of BJ, we’ll "keep you guys posted…it’s gonna be good…nah."

Maybe BJ brought his mom into the contract room with Joe Silva, so she could tell Joe how wonderful her boy is, and that he's nice, and that he deserves an easy opponent so he can sleep at night and be happy...

and then Joe Silva immediately farted in her face, just like Phil Nurse did at the Nevada hearing!

I have a good feeling that BJ will get Guida. That is going to be a sad day for Guida's face.

Regardless of who BJ's next opponent is, I would like to know where and with whom his next camp is with? That is more important at this stage.
If he stay's on the Island I don't like his chances. Nor do I think the fight will be a good one.

BrutusBox is probably right, but I wish rampagejaxson was right. I can't wait for the time when BJ is just an annoying voice trying to talk himself back into relevance, like Tito Ortiz. Then we put a nice 'ban' stamp on his fat forehead, and I'll have a big smile on my face.

i would venture to say more people care about BJ than they do rampage, at least his career is still semi relevant

"Penn gets his rematch with Takanori Gomi" you make it seem like he lost the first fight

I really don't know who else they'll give him. Guida's text pretty much narrowed it down to Gomi or Penn, so Gomi vs. Penn looks like it's out of the picture. All the other good lightweights are booked or have been beaten by BJ already so who else would he fight? Maybe DW told Guida he'd get the loser of the Penn/Edgar fight. Gomi will probably have to beat at least one other guy before they give him the Penn fight, since he has already been RNC'd by Penn and also just got RNC'd by the guy who got RNC'd by Penn a year ago.

i was 50/50 on guida's next opponent being Gomi or Penn. now i think it's gonna be penn.

So what happened to the article that disappeared yesterday? The comments were shaping up to be wonderfully inappropriate.
