Steroids in MMA
Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

Blame Canada: Georges St. Pierre, Like, Really Does Not Want to Fight Anderson Silva Right Now

It appears that Georges St. Pierre wants to fight Anderson Silva about as bad as ‘The Spider’ wants to fight Jon Jones. That is to say, not at all, right now. We were told by UFC Prez Dana White that should the welterweight champ beat Carlos Condit as he did at UFC 154, he would take on the Brazilian middleweight king next, but St. Pierre revealed all of that to be a cruel tease recently while on Radio-Canada’s Tout Le Monde en Parle, or, Everyone is Talking as we’d say here in civilization. MMA Fighting had the translation.

“[The Anderson Silva] fight is the cherry on the sundae,” St. Pierre explained. “[Silva] wants to fight me so he can then retire. I would like to fight him too, but after I fight him and win the fight, what happens next? These days, yeah, there’s a lot of money to be made, but I don’t fight for the money. My motivation is to be the best. Like we said, to be the Wayne Gretzky of my sport. So if I fight him, what happens next? It will be over. So yes, I want the fight, but I want to take it when I decide the time is right, not when he wants the fight to happen.”

St. Pierre doesn’t want to move at Silva’s schedule just because he’s champion of a lighter division, even though Silva would appear to be much closer to retirement at age 37 than St. Pierre is. Speaking of weight differences, St. Pierre has appeared to have gotten some specific intel on just how much heavier Silva is than him.

More on that, as well as the complete video interview with St. Pierre wearing sunglasses and sipping wine, you know, just to emphasize the whole French thing, after the jump.

“On top of that, he weighs 234 pounds; I weigh 188. So there’s a big weight difference,” St. Pierre said. “I’ve fought guys who were bigger. I’m not scared of him, it’s just that I will take this fight when it makes sense for me. I just came back from an injury, there’s money to be made, there are fights in my weight class, other challenges out there, and if I fight him, I will have to gain weight, while he will have to lose weight, and then afterwards, I won’t be able to come back to my weight class.

“First and foremost, I have things to do at 170 pounds. When I am ready and when I want the fight, that’s when it will happen.”

Before you jump on St. Pierre for that “I have things to do in my own weight class even though everyone knows I really don’t have anything else to prove or anyone to beat in my weight class” statement, first remember how identical it is to how Silva has answered calls to move up and compete for the light heavyweight title. He, unlike St. Pierre, has fought in a higher weight class, but has so far refused to campaign for the title.

A few notes from the interview for anyone who cares:
1.After his knee surgery, GSP's doctor did not want him to fly home for Christmas so he invited him to Christmas dinner at his step brother's house, the doctor's step brother was Sly Stallone and GSP said his turkey was good and that before meeting Stallone, GSP was a big fan, but after meeting Stallone he became an even bigger fan.
2.Arnold Schwarzenegger called him up after his fight with Condit to congratulate him.
3.GSP recently changed management teams, believes he was ripped off by his US based management team and is currently in court with them. Now GSP is being managed by two friends he has known since childhood who quit their jobs to focus solely on managing the WW champ.
4.Outside the Octagon GSP has started an "anti bullying" charitable org due to his childhood experiences with being bullied.

ina kill ths stupid argument right now...gsp would not win vs silva..... it would take to much for him to gain without rhoids.. and silva it wouldnt take to much to cut...gsp would lose.. the only way to make that fight would be to have silva move down to 170...which if he truly does walk around at 2hundy plus....not likely to happen....far as nick diaz fighting silva????? give me a fucking break... he would even move up to fight has been jason miller in SF... diaz would ge his fucking shit pushed in by silva period... have silva fight jones or henderson again. superifght shit is dumb...gsp is a much smaller person naturally.... let sivla move up to fight in lhw even if he doesnt take on jones... let him fight some of the light heavywieghts....fucking ridiculous

I do agree with you drainplugfideas. And for your information J Dog Tout le monde en parle means Everybody is talking about it. 'hope my french canadian ass could help. By the way,GSP accent is particularly horrible, generally my kind could imitate accent pretty well. But he is a world class killer so maybe I could give him a break.

You know who deserves the blame in this situation? It's pretty obvious. It's Dana Fucking White. He keeps promising things that he can't deliver when it would have been better to keep his mouth shut. This fight was never gonna happen. GSP didn't want it, and I don't blame him. He's the champ of his division, and that's enough for him. He'd be giving up 20 pounds on fight night. There are lots of up and coming fighters in the welterweight division. Let the king rule his throne instead of seeking to conquer others.
ArmFarmer- November 27, 2012 at 11:05 am
@jpfighter, You don't see Jones calling out the smaller champion because the smaller champion is Anderson f'ing Silva...
killamoneymike- November 27, 2012 at 9:35 am
GSP has a damn good stiff jab, and some really underrated boxing. And he has good kicks. But he cant stand with Anderson. He'd have to give him the ole' Chael Sonnen treatment. I dont think it would work though Anderson had a broken rib that fight and I honestly dont think that even GSP can do that to a healthy Anderson. However though, GSP is super smart. It seems like he ALWAYS finds a way to get his opponent down. He can't stand too long with Anderson though. I don't think he can take too many of Silva's strikes, especially since Silva is truly alot bigger than him.
shatterproof- November 27, 2012 at 7:46 am
Good for GSP. If silva wants the fight he can drop down or stfu about it already.
J-Dog- November 27, 2012 at 6:24 am
GSP is way too small for Anderson. I don't think he'd stand a chance. I'd rather see Anderson fight Jones.

And by my translation "Tout le monde en parle" would more literally translate to "all the world is talking"... I knew those 4 years of French class would come in handy one day... wish I would have taken Spanish instead.
Dagnut- November 27, 2012 at 5:29 am
GSP would be crazy to take this fight.."oh it's only 1 weight class" it isn't the reality is its 2 weight classes by modern standards... George is now an average to small WW and Silva is, and always has been, a big MW. It's not just a strength issue I'm sure George is as strong explosively but its'carrying that extra weight on you in every clinch..especially when the guys is taller..a good bit wears you out much quicker...any who has spared with taller heavier guys will now what I'm talking about ..not necessarily the the ground game but in the muay thai clinch the get to push down on you...30lb isn't the end of the world when your fighting a chump and moving up in weight to dance around with Griffin and Booner..but when your facing someone has dangerous as Silva giving away any advantage would be suicide..I don't think should do it and frankly I think the UFC and Silva should be held accountable for even promoting it... you have a ready made superfight on your hands, Silva already fight LHW so why not push the Jones angle??? GSP ends up looking bad out of this for not wanting to fight a guy 2 weight classes up by Silva get a pass for not fighting a guy in a division he already fights in???
cman- November 27, 2012 at 12:48 am
However Diaz vs Silva could be interesting. Freak show interesting, has Diaz ever fought at 185? Zero doubt silva violently ends that one. Like life flight violent.
cman- November 27, 2012 at 12:42 am
Don't start thinking warm showers on the horizon karma, lol. I've never wanted this fight. But I'm not sold on Hendricks either. Seen that hype train (Irvin anyone?!?) on flash KO's to many times. Kos going the distance and arguably winning says the division may be in bad shape more than Hendricks being that good.
I am however laughin at jbj never calling out smaller fighters. He used to twitter threaten anyone he felt the least bit slighted by. Was the start of his full fledged douchery, chased soon after by 3rd person references and Ali/Jesus comparrisons.
Madson- November 26, 2012 at 9:29 pm
This superfight is a nonsense anyway. Thank you George to accomplish your destiny as a titleholder and to push Neo to do the same. They are plenty of athletes working their butts off to just have a chance to be destroy against them in the cage. So it's just respect to give them this opportunity. It also a chance for us to quit this everending discussion about who will kill who between a cobra and a mangoose.

About the sipping, don't be too excited guys. Even if he don't drink wine like a barbarian, he's still able to beat your fat ass blindfolded and he probabbly sleeps with a hord of beautiful chicks at will.So Stop sucking kilometers of dicks and respect the man. No offense.
KarmaAteMyCat- November 26, 2012 at 8:46 pm
@Cman it isn't often we're ever on the same page but today we are indeed brothers in arms.
JPfighter-DAMMA- November 26, 2012 at 8:43 pm
This is getting to be a bunch of horse shit. Bigger fighters calling out smaller fighters while turning down legitimate challengers in their own division. Dana et al need to get a handle on this bullshit. If the UFC truly "needs" these superfights to happen, then the problem isn't whether or not GSP will fight Silva, the problem is that the UFC needs to build and nurture more talent. Not push bullshit superfights. There are at least a few good fights for both GSP and Silva to be had. I'm not a JBJ fan, I find him to be a major douchebag, but you don't see him calling out smaller fighters, do you? Just because Silva wants to fight GSP and nobody else, well, fuck him. I don't blame GSP. Calling out a smaller fighter is a bitch move, plain and simple. I wish GSP wasn't such a nice guy, because he should call a bitch a bitch. Now let's get on with some other good fights.
KarmaAteMyCat- November 26, 2012 at 8:43 pm
FUCK YEA! I love it. The fight shouldn't happen it never should of happened, BJ vs St.Pierre 2 shouldn't of happened, and neither should Anderson and Jones. SUCH AN AWESOME DAY OF SOUND THINKING. THANK YOU GEORGES!
XxStifflerxX- November 26, 2012 at 8:31 pm
Fuck the bullshit! I want to see NICK DIAZ vs Anderson Silva! He definitely would bring the fight to Anderson Silva! Regardless of contender-ship, make it happen uncle Dana! lol.
Pen Fifteen- November 26, 2012 at 5:55 pm
Also, how has no one pointed out the LOLz of Silva supposedly ballooning up 50 pounds over the class limit between fights? That would be some straight-up Anthony Johnson shit. Completely absurd.
cman- November 26, 2012 at 5:31 pm
The much bigger guy calling out the much smaller guy? In the bar biz we have a word for them, BITCH.
I wouldn't look to give up 40#s to elite guys either. (Ok fight day probably 20). And before the Royce arguement pops in, those guys were neither elite nor even trained in all reality. Anyone remember the fat 'ninja' in the early ufc's? Elite my ass.
Mr_Misanthropy- November 26, 2012 at 5:21 pm
Maybe they could just have a dance off- you know, Thriller vs. Breaking Electric Boogaloo? Then Rousey could come out and fight some hot chick with no pants?
Mr_Misanthropy- November 26, 2012 at 5:19 pm
I'm calling him a cheese eating wine sipping surrender monkey! So what now, Frenchy?

(Disclaimer: The author of the aforementioned ludicrous libel would like to reiterate that he soundly believes there is exactly 0% chance that Mr. St. Pierre will ever visit this two bit MMA blog or ever lay eyes on the aforementioned unsupported statements either in part or in their entirety at any point in the foreseeable future.)
ronburgundy- November 26, 2012 at 5:02 pm
well i am glad you're not calling him a pussy, just glad you cleared that up.
dipsetkilla316- November 26, 2012 at 4:44 pm
I knew after the fight, wen ppl asked about silva, he would be like im really hurt right now, and and i need some time to heal, and think about my future. Then like 2 weeks later he would be like not right now, and it happened exactly like that. He say how about a little later, but how knows wats gonna happen. Im
Not saying hes a pussy, but he def doesn't wanna fight silva
El Guapo- November 26, 2012 at 3:48 pm
Gotta blame Pacquiao for the superfight nonsense. Once he started destroying bigger guys people figured "if he could do it" yadda yadda..
RwilsonR- November 26, 2012 at 3:16 pm
Fuck it... would Dos Santos call out Demetrius Johnson already?
Casa de los pantelones- November 26, 2012 at 3:12 pm
You know...

Who started all this shit anyways? Who was the first person to get this retarded mixing of weight classes champions fights going? I can see a regular fighter of adequate size moving around to different classes, but not the freakin champions. Is there seriously nothing else to report on besides the death of GSP, if he fights Silva...who will then be charged with illegally assisting in GSP's suicide?

If the mofo wanted to fight Silva, he would move up in weight classes and do it legitimately...of his own accord. Not because some retard thinks a 170 lb non aggressive french guy has a snowballs chance in hell against a neo-matrix muay thai wizard.

Get over this stupid shit already...
