BREAKING: Jon Jones Arrested for DUI in Binghamton, NY *UPDATED*

I’m not touching this one. *Innocently whistles* *Walks Away* Props to reader Johnnyozone22 for the tip.

This doesn’t look good, folks. Initially reported by and confirmed by Josh Gross, UFC Light-Heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been arrested in Binghamton, New York on DUI charges after totaling his Bentley. From TMZ:

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Jones was involved in an accident at around 5:00 AM in Binghamton, NY. We’re told the car — which Jones crashed into a pole — was totaled and cops arrested Jones on the scene for DUI.

According to our sources, Jones was taken into custody by Broome County Sheriff and bailed out a few hours later … by his mom. Jones is from nearby Ithaca.

Fortunately for Jones, it appears that he only suffered minor injuries, and it does not appear that anyone else was injured from this accident. It is unclear whether or not there were any passengers in the car at the time of the accident.

As of writing this, Dana White’s only response to the incident has been a text to TMZ, saying “Wow, i guess its not my week is it?”. Given the week he’s had, that may be putting it mildly. Neither Jones nor his teammates will be commenting on the arrest at this time.

In and of itself, the incident isn’t too surprising: Jon Jones is a young, talented and seemingly invincible athlete. Like many other athletes in his position, Jones decided to get behind the wheel after clearly drinking too much. Or for that matter, like many of those reading this article, myself included, at one point or another. I’m not saying that drunk driving isn’t a reckless, stupid thing to do, but I also wouldn’t be surprised to see the media be harsher on Jon Jones than they would on, say, Braylon Edwards.

It will be interesting to see how this story develops. Jon Jones is the face of the UFC - and in many ways, mixed martial arts. How will the mainstream media cover this incident? How will Jones be disciplined for this? Will any of his sponsors bail on him? And how will this story be treated in the state of New York, which recently made viewing child porn legal while deeming that MMA should remain illegal? We’ll keep you up to date as more details become available.

Update: A statement from First Round Management has been forwarded to

Note: There will be no interviews granted at this time from Jon Jones, or any of his representatives

“I can confirm that Jon Jones was arrested early this morning on suspicion of DUI. While the facts of this situation are still being gathered and situated, First Round Management fully supports Jon and we are asking for fans and media to respect the privacy of Jon and his family during this time.”

–Malki Kawa, Jon “Bones” Jones’ Manager

I, Like many others did plenty of dumb shit as a young man, including driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of to many bevvie's, thankfully, I didn't hurt anyone else, damage anyones property or hurt myself, with the benefit of a few extra years under the belt, I now see drunk driving for what it really is:
A. Possibly one of the most avoidable causes of automobile accidents, along with excess and reckless speed
B. A really fucken stupid and selfish action when you factor in all the possible consequences.
That being said, to publicly declare you'd never do something so stupid, then one month and five days later commit that very crime you publicly stated that you would never do, is Hypocritical in the extreme, and shows yourself to be a 100% self centred, self righteous asshole, your a phenomenal fighter son, but you need to shut your fucken mouth from here on in. You have proven yourself to be just another full of shit asshole, and a potential killer on the roads due to your irresponsibility and arrogance.
Hope you enjoy your next little chat with DW re spon sorship.

It's usually really hard to read some media articles like this that try to ride a high-horse and some such whenever athletes do dumb shit like this. They get the feeling of being too gossipy or too desperate to make a story. Athletes do dumb shit all the time. Just like the writer admits to doing(as well as calling most people on it) and it's very refreshing.

I could've sworn last month Jones said the UFC liked him as the face of the UFC because they knew he wouldn't ever do something stupid like get a DUI.

I believe yosuplee spoke what was in my mind, and he did it well.
ghostboner- May 20, 2012 at 7:37 pm
And also, don't drink and drive. That's bad too.
ghostboner- May 20, 2012 at 7:37 pm
You hear it all the time over and over, but a lot of people do it anyway. But given the current situation with Jones, and the seriousness of the situation, it bears saying again. Because this is a serious problem, after all.

Don't.... Be a preachy, self-righteous, snitching tattle tale, swagger jacking douche.

Nice gives the haters to hate more ;/ you can make 100 Right Decisions but all it takes is 1 Mistake for people to turn their backs on you
tallkitchenbags- May 20, 2012 at 5:41 pm
i didn't hate jones before the accident. i thought he was actually a decent sort and not the type to recklessly endanger the lives of others. now i know he's a douche bag and a typical christian hypocrite.

Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Him (Christ) who strengthens me." Jesus sure musta sucked at driving.

In a word, disappointing. I am a fan of Jones and thought he was smarter than that. I'm not going to jump on the guy and kick him while he's down, and I don't want to make excuses for him, but I still want to see him fight again.

Call him cocky, but he's always been a smart fighter and to drink and drive is so irresponsible I still wonder how anyone still does it. He's one of the guys in MMA I just expect better of. You find out about some athletes doing thins kind of shit and you just think, "Fucking idiot" but Jones is one of the ones where I just thing, "really? He did that?"
yosuplee- May 20, 2012 at 1:08 pm
squidink. it has nothing to do with being a 'hater". its about a person, that many people look up to, and even self-proclaims he does do things like the get DUI/DWI, and then does it; its not about me or you, and our 'crimes'. squidink, its about jj drinking and driving and his CRIME. the UFC, the fans, and jj are very forunate that in the midst of this CRIME, he did kill my loved or your loved ones. this has nothing do with 'hating' or telling 'my' fighters to 'man' up. JJ has transcended into the upper echelons of being an assholes on the road that threaten the lives of other motorist, predestrians, and innocent people. squidink, your attempt to derail to the topic of 'hater' is juvenile, and ill spirited, mitigating the serious nature of drinking and driving. correct me if im wrong, but can i assume you drink and drive, thus your reponse in the post?
doomrider7- May 20, 2012 at 9:49 pm
Rampage did far worse and actually caused a woman to miscarry yet received FAR less flak than Jones is receiving now. Let's not pretend that if this had been any other fighter that people would even care about this story. Hell Pearson was involved in a similar incident recently as well. Where are the posts demanding him to be fired, made an example, and crucified?
SquidInk- May 20, 2012 at 11:36 am
Jones haters, you guys made that JBJ has been dismantling your fighters one by one? Don't like the guy? Tell your fighters to fucking man up and win a fight for once.
Get Off Me- May 20, 2012 at 11:02 am
Like you guys never got bombed and wrapped your Bentley around a pole at 5am when you were in your mid twenties.
danomite- May 20, 2012 at 10:35 am
I refuse to believe that the Great Man, Who Descended from Heaven, Last Son of Krypton Jon Jones would ever do something as stupid and irresponsible as drive drunk. MRuss must have photoshopped him into that totaled Bentley. I wouldn't be surprised if the arresting officer turned out to be Burt Watson.
jonjonesbentley- May 20, 2012 at 10:19 am
Always hated this guy
dranokills- May 19, 2012 at 6:24 pm
now after reading all these posts.....some of the funniest fucking posts in a very long time here all pointed at Fucknut Jones, I couldn't be happier.
The fanboys are crying and it couldn't be a more pleasant thing. It's like all the lesner fans who didn't leave with Brock and go to the WWE sites have all found a new douchebag to suck on and Johnny boy is their new target to swing on.
dranokills- May 19, 2012 at 6:13 pm
"First Round Management fully supports Jon and we are asking for fans and media to respect the privacy of Jon and his family during this time.”

first off FUCK you, and secondly: hahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Fuck you Johnny boy I hope they make an example of you, and I hope Dana fires you. I hate this asshole and am so glad bad shit can happen to him, and ever so glad to rub it in.
doomrider7- May 20, 2012 at 9:44 pm
Out of curiosity, how did you feel when Rampage caused a woman to miscarry or how about the Kobe rape charges?

I dont know - ask Jon Fucking Jones, since hes the hypocrite holier-than-though fuckwit. Were just regular flawed human beings that despise that kind of asshole. See here:

"I’m glad the UFC wanted to work with me, as well. I think they trust that I will never make them look bad. You never have to worry about me getting a DWI or doing something crazy. I think I’m a good company guy." Jon Jones, 16 April 2012

Everybody falls down eventually. But, that fall hurts a lot more when it's off of your high horse.
bigpurn- May 19, 2012 at 4:32 pm
So many haters. I have never seen people take so much pleasure in something bad happening to someone(besides all the Lebron haters), and for what? I'm sure most of you have done worse than wrecking your car against a pole.
bitteralex- May 19, 2012 at 4:21 pm
First and foremost I will say this... I fucking hate jon jones. That being said, in my younger years there were a couple of times when I probably shouldn't have driven home after a night of drinking. However I wised up quite a few years ago, when after one such night I decided I could probably drive and almost ran a red light... if it wasn't for my buddy sitting in the backseat who screamed "RED LIGHT!"... I had 2 friends in the car and realized I could have killed them both... I got off extremely lucky and haven't driven under the influence since...
I have no respect for those who drive impaired and those who defend them... but I sincerely hope that jones has learned his lesson here...
you can always make more money and replace you car.. you can't replace a life
bigpurn- May 19, 2012 at 4:27 pm
How can you judge someone when you just said you used to do the same thing?
bitteralex- May 19, 2012 at 6:07 pm
I think I'm in the best position to judge because I did the same thing... well more or less... I didn't crash my car... I was young and stupid back then and I regret it and I've learned from my mistakes... if I can judge my past self than why can't I judge jones?
I was an idiot back then and I've smarten up... I'm hoping jon jones does the same.. I wasn't attack him with vitriol like I normally do
SethF- May 19, 2012 at 5:43 pm
It's like I said in my post: Just because I once did it doesn't mean I can't say my decision to do it, as with anyone else's, it a reckless, stupid thing to do.

Doesn't that drive you fucking nuts that you can't go back and put "it's" - LOL = big time bro!
