To say that 11 knockouts and 0 loss’ Shane Carwin and always impressive former champion Frank Mir are fighting for a make-believe belt is a little insulting to the sport in general. These two mother-fuckers don’t care about any interim, next-in-line, something-on-your-waist belt. They want Brock Lesnar, whether that’s for personal or professional reasons. They want that fight. All this fight does is make that future a reality.

I used to wonder the same damn thing everytime I seen an interim match but I think the reasons for it are:
1. They can make it a 5 rnd fight if it’s for a belt.
2. The UFC can now sell the PPV as 2 championship fights on 1 card.
IMO, interim belts suck b/c it’s retarded to have 2 champs in the same division but it all works itself out in the end.

He’s a terrible champion and a terrible person. The interm belt wouldn’t be necessary if he had been able to fight for the past how many months and it exists for exactly that reason, you have to actively defend your title. Going with a Heavyweight interm belt vs. yanking it from Brock was also a business decision. If a heavyweight without Brocks PPV draw would have been out that long you’re damn right Dana would have yanked it.

Why does everyone say “Lesnar didn’t deserve a title shot”? He’s defended his belt successfully, so that means he did. If someone has the belt that doesn’t “deserve” it, that means that any opponent should be able to take it from him. And so far….no dice.
