Brockwatch: Lesnar in Stable Condition, Will Leave Hospital Soon

("…so I said, ‘Incurable disease? My God, what’s the *good* news?’ And the doctor says, ‘We’re going to name it after you.’")

From the Associated Press:

BISMARCK, N.D. — UFC President Dana White said Monday that heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is recovering from a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract. "He’s in stable condition and should be released soon," UFC President Dana White said.

Asked if Lesnar was in a Bismarck hospital, White said, "I think he is," but did not want to say which hospital because he wanted to protect Lesnar’s privacy.

White said he is encouraging Lesnar to check into the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for further treatment. He also said he did not know if the 32-year-old South Dakota native will fight again. "It depends on how serious this is," White said…

White said Monday that Lesnar wanted to thank his fans for support. But he said it’s tough to tell how 6-foot-3, 265-pound Lesnar is feeling. "He’s never in good spirits and he’s not in good spirits now," White said.*

With an interim heavyweight title fight becoming increasingly likely, Heavy.com reports that Shane Carwin did not recently undergo knee surgery, and will be available to fight after UFC 108.

* "I hate catheters. Put that in your little notebook."

This is what I think happened and will happened based on my little medical knowledge which I am NOTcertified to give.

Brock came down with mononucleiosis; lowering his immune system causing a bacterial infection in his intestines which are normally kept in check; doctors gave him antibiotics which proved ineffective because he developed a large abscess *(like a zit except internally in this case, see mayhem pic). Based on this double whammy, he will not be able to train at least six months losing a substantial amount of strength. (as most people who've had mono will account for) It will probably be a year before he will be able to fight. He may have to take steroids to fight the inflamation, but they prolly will be out of his system before he can train again anyway.
It can be career/life threatening depending on the bacteria and the amount of damage on his body. So it is a very scary and serious situation that is not to be taken lightly, my thoughts and prayers are out to Brock Lesnar.

Okay, "Brockwatch" is a funny title, but Lesnar's condition is apparently no joke.

In any case, I'm very glad to hear that Brock is improving and heading home. I'm now going to light candles and beg Thor and Odin not to let Brock's career end yet. ;)

In a great world it would come out that Brock has checked himself into some gay-rehabilitation-camp to fight those "unpure thoughts" he had every time he thought about rolling with Carwin. I probably would get face spasms from all the grinning and smiling. =)

And the Dr. says, "You see that nurse out there? The one with the huge rack? I finally got her in the sack last night!"

From what I've heard, Dana isn't hyping this. Brock is pretty sick.

I wonder if it's something like crohn's disease?

UFC has had more "interim" champs than WWE.

Cain vs Shane for Interim Title ! UFC 109

That is a worthy fight!

See, everything just gets blown out of proportion. Lesnar will indeed fight again. I do find it extremely funny that Dana said Brock is NEVER in good spirits haha.

That's why they call skoal spit, not swallow.

Lesnar made the ny times today.

TylerDyrden- November 17, 2009 at 8:44 am
brock lesnar died for 10 minutes yesterday.
upon further investigation the medical staff determined he was actually just taking a nap. he is fine, thanks for your concerns
RWhit- November 17, 2009 at 8:16 am
Nice picture. Brock just drank a Coors and is experiencing "bitter beer face".
W. Sobchak- November 17, 2009 at 8:15 am

It's Brocks adherence to a strict caveman training routine that's his downfall. No more moose sushi for you Lesnar.

Room temperature ranch dressing is no joke. Put that in your little notebook.

"He's never in good spirits." Hahahaha, you said it, Dana.
Catalyst8487- November 17, 2009 at 7:43 am
By the end of the week we will know that it was really just a tummy ache and some chewable Tylenols would've done the trick.

Joking aside, I hope he fights again. There are some really interesting matches I'd like to see with him.
Goog- November 17, 2009 at 7:36 am
He may or may not fight again. I hope he does. He pretty much rekindled ANY interest in the heavyweight division after a long lull.

Regardless, Dana White is a promotor and he knows there's no story in "He'll be fine in 3 months and be back." If Lesnar comes back, it'll be much more dramatic if he "defies all the odds" that Dana's throwing out right now. And the big question mark over Lesnar keeps people talking about it and checking in.

I suspect Dana's pretty much a shallow, soulless prick as a person, but I give him all his due credit for being good at his job.
baldmidget- November 17, 2009 at 7:28 am
step 1 - have dana white claim this is much worse than it is (yesterday: hey we are going to scramble a helicopter and fly him to the mayo clinic, today: we are encouraging him to go to the mayo clinic).

step 2 - have the 1337 blogosphere make mythical jokes about brock lesnar being a god.
